    Yetter–Drinfeld post-Hopf algebras and Yetter–Drinfeld relative Rota–Baxter operators

Recently, Li, Sheng and Tang introduced post-Hopf algebras and relative Rota–Baxter operators (on cocommutative Hopf algebras), providing an adjunction between the respective categories under the assumption that the structures involved are cocommutative. We introduce Yetter–Drinfeld post-Hopf algebras, which become usual post-Hopf algebras in the cocommutative setting. In analogy with the correspondence between cocommutative post-Hopf algebras and cocommutative Hopf braces, the category of Yetter–Drinfeld post-Hopf algebras is isomorphic to the category of Yetter–Drinfeld braces introduced by the author in a joint work with D. Ferri. This allows to explore the connection with matched pairs of actions and provide examples of Yetter–Drinfeld post-Hopf algebras. Moreover, we prove that the category of Yetter–Drinfeld post-Hopf algebras is equivalent to a subcategory of bijective Yetter–Drinfeld relative Rota–Baxter operators. The latter structures coincide with the inverse maps of Yetter–Drinfeld 1-cocycles introduced by the author and D. Ferri, and generalise bijective relative Rota–Baxter operators on cocommutative Hopf algebras. Hence the previous equivalence passes to cocommutative post-Hopf algebras and bijective relative Rota–Baxter operators. Once the surjectivity of the Yetter–Drinfeld relative Rota–Baxter operators is removed, the equivalence is replaced by an adjunction and one can recover the result of Li, Sheng and Tang in the cocommutative case

Capitale sociale e cultura civile in Italia.

This thesis deals with the relationship between the concepts of social capital and civil culture. In much of the literature civil culture corresponds to the concept of social capital as it represents its enunciation. Instead, the main hypothesis of this research is that social capital acts as a mediator between the characteristics of individuals and their civil culture. For a more specific level the research hypothesis states that the presence of bridging social capital fosters the presence of more civil culture. The analysis of political science and sociological literature and empirical works in which the two concepts are related shows the possibility of assuming that social capital is involved in the relationship between the individual and its civil culture, with an effort of mediation. The theoretical approach used to study the two concepts is the one of relational sociology, integrated at the methodological level with social networks analysis. The central hypothesis of the research was tested using structural equation models for latent variables, suitable to test causal links between theoretical constructs not observable directly, for which the only available indicators are their outcomes. Empirically, data from a national survey had been used, collecting also form and content characteristics of respondents' support networks. The results of the application of structural equation modeling show that the mediation hypothesis shall not be refused on the basis of empirical data and the role of bridging social capital for the presence of civil culture is highlighted. Finally, among the main outcomes of the research, it has been reported the robustness of the theoretical analysis for the concept of civil culture using relational sociology and for the definition of social capital adopted

This review tried to highlight the progress made in the studies that use the concept of social capital from a relational perspective, especially from the point of view of the methods used and the results obtained in relation to other concepts such as interpersonal trust, participation and civic engagement

Analysis of Mastodon's Italian Messages: Networks, Topics, LLM and Machine Learning

    No full text
This study examines Italian-language content on the social media platform Mastodon, employing some typical tools for textual analysis. A set of posts (known as ‘toots’ on Mastodon) related to the hashtag #intelligenzaartificiale from the past two years were collected. Co-occurrence networks between hashtags and cross-author referrals within the same toots were analyzed. Next, structural topic modeling was utilized to identify four topics and their most important keywords. A comparison was then made between the predictive ability of a set of words and that of a transformer using a classifier, resulting in similar findings. Furthermore, a SHAP analysis was conducted to demonstrate the impact of individual words on the classification model, providing an explanation of the contribution of individual features

    Matched pairs and Yetter-Drinfeld braces

It is proven that a matched pair of actions on a Hopf algebra H is equivalent to the datum of a Yetter–Drinfeld brace, which is a novel structure generalising Hopf braces. This improves a theorem by Angiono, Galindo and Vendramin, originally stated for cocommutative Hopf braces. These Yetter–Drinfeld braces produce Hopf algebras in the category of Yetter–Drinfeld modules over H, through an operation that generalises Majid’s transmutation. A characterisation of Yetter–Drinfeld braces via 1-cocycles, in analogy to the one for Hopf braces, is given. Every coquasitriangular Hopf algebra H will be seen to yield a Yetter–Drinfeld brace, where the additional structure on H is given by the transmutation. We compute explicit examples of Yetter–Drinfeld braces on the Sweedler’s Hopf algebra, on the algebras E(n), on SLq(2), and an example in the class of Suzuki algebras

Social capital and social network sites: an empirical analysis of European high school students

This paper shows the results of part of an empirical study which was developed in the sphere of the PACT EU project (Pathways for Carbon Transitions). The performed analysis concerns the social capital of young Europeans in terms of trust, size of personal networks, volunteering activities and usage of social network sites (SNS). The purpose of the work is, on one hand, exploratory, especially in aspects related to the comparison between relational context of social networks and virtual networks. At the same time, the research aims to confirm on this particular population some of the hypothesis coming from the literature on social capital, and to verify the existence of differences between European countries regarding relational characteristics

Pixel vs. Font. Facebook and Young People’s Self-Presentation.

This paper explores various strategies for self-presentation used on Facebook, among a sample of 1330 Italian students aged 14-19 years. Based on two social network site practices, the production of text material and the publication of personal photos, we have constructed a model embracing four types of categories and behaviors. We examined the categories according to structural variables, variables regarding self-narration, and two psychological scales. The results show the validity of the four categories in distinguishing different styles of Facebook use and allowing us to define those styles in greater depth. In particular, the publication of photos by those who do not contribute written text seems to indicate the need to maintain one’s real-life social network; the production of text alone seems to reflect the need to deepen one’s most passionate interests; while the combination of the two communicative modes tends to reveal a greater capacity in planning for the future
