L’opera Lettere regie alla città di Cagliari. Le carte reali dell’Archivio comunale di Cagliari, I, 1358-1415 (Regesta Chartarum, 58), a cura di Anna Maria Oliva e Olivetta Schena, primo tomo di un’opera in due volumi, è il primo risultato tangibile del Progetto FIRB “Fonti per la storia dell’Italia medievale. Identità nazionale ed euromeditteranea” promosso dall’Istituto storico italiano per il Medio Evo. Il progetto, attraverso lo studio e l’edizione delle fonti dell’Italia medievale, mirava a mettere in luce i molteplici apporti delle diverse culture confluite nella moderna identità italiana ed intendeva privilegiare quelle aree che, sino ad allora, erano state meno rappresentate nelle pubblicazioni delle fonti dell’Italia medievale. L’edizione delle Lettere regie mette a disposizione un materiale certamente interessante per la storia della città, ma offre anche l’occasione per una riflessione sulla Cancelleria catalano-aragonese e sull’Archivio municipale, a tutt’oggi mancante
Correlation between quadriceps and hamstrings inter-limb strength asymmetry with change of direction and sprint in U21 elite soccer players
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between in quadriceps and hamstrings inter-limb strength asymmetry and change of direction, sprinting and jumping abilities in U21 elite soccer players. Twenty-seven soccer players volunteered for this study. Isokinetic quadriceps and hamstrings peak torque was measured at high and low angular velocities, both in concentric and eccentric modalities. Performance in agility T-test, 20 + 20 m shuttle-test, 10 m and 30 m
sprint, squat jump (SJ) and counter-movement jump (CMJ), were measured. Overall, time on agility T-test and 20 + 20 m shuttle-test was moderately and positively correlated with the quadriceps and hamstrings inter-limb eccentric peak torque asymmetry, both at high and low angular velocities. In addition, time on 10 m and 30 m sprints was moderately and positively correlated with the hamstrings inter-limb high-velocity concentric peak torque asymmetry. SJ and CMJ showed trivial to small correlations with hamstrings and quadriceps inter-limb peak torque asymmetry. The present results provide further information insight the role of lower-limb muscle strength balance in COD, sprinting and jumping performance
The modified National Early Warning Score m-NEWS for COVID-19 infected patient evaluation: a proof-of-concept
The second wave of Sars CoV 2 pandemic in Italy still represents an important concern for the Italian health system (IHS). Despite the experience gained during the first phase of the pandemic in January 2020, COVID-19 patients are still arising, putting on a strain resources of local authorities and emergency services. The aim of this research project is to analyze the feasibility of using the modified National Early Warning Score (m-NEWS) as a way to rapidly identify COVID-19-infected patient with high risk of clinical deterioration, helping the clinical pre-evaluation in a moment of overwhelming request for the Italian out-of-hospital emergency system (Perlini et al., Intern Emerg Med 15(5):825-833, 2020) as during the initial coronavirus outbreak
Brief review of the state of art in Futsal
Futsal (the official name of "five side indoor football") has become very popular in recent years, and it counts more than 12 million players in over 100 countries. Futsal is played on a field of 40 × 20 m between 2 teams of 5 players, (four outfield players and the goalkeeper). Despite its rise of popularity, the number of scientific studies related to training modalities as the demands of the match or factors linked to the performance, are quite limited. This brief review aims to explore the few papers published on futsal, taking in consideration some conclusions that can be drawn from previous studies related only to futsal and indoor football players. Future studies should examine the physical demands during the matches, the variation of physical performances during the season and compare different classic training modalities to sport specific exercises, aiming to improve the current knowledge for coaching
Evaluation of the external and internal workload in female futsal players
Match analysis technology has been extensively used in football, but there is limited literature on its use in futsal. Despite its increased popularity, the female futsal game model has never been quantified. The aim of this study was to quantify locomotor and mechanical activities performed during a non-competitive female futsal match, measuring the differences between the first and second half. Sixteen female futsal players of the Italian 2nd division were enrolled (age 27±5 years, height 1.65±0.09 m, body weight 56.9±7.7 kg, BMI 20.9±1.9, fat mass 21.5±2.9%). Locomotor and mechanical activities were recorded by means of the 10 Hz GPS StatSports system. Games were performed on a 38x18 m synthetic grass outdoor pitch. Significant differences were found between the first and second half in total distance (1424±114 and 1313±113 m, p<0.05), relative velocity (70±6 and 64±6 m min-1, p<0.05), high speed running (28±16 and 22±19 m, p<0.05) and high metabolic distance (80 ± 29 and 69 ± 28 m, p<0.05). The match analysis of female futsal matches provides useful information about its external load demands. Female futsal players decreased the workload in the second half compared to the first one during this non-competitive match. It was found that fatigue impairs the performance in the second part of the game. Coaches and physical trainers can obtain useful information to design training programmes taking into account the quantification of locomotor and mechanical activities performed in this study
