No full textMy paper is related to applied ethics with special reference to the ethics of communication. The task of this discipline is to defend otherness in the various contexts where it exists. The departure point for my paper is the observation that the physician–patient relationship, instead of being the place of therapeutic alliance, is increasingly becoming a source of conflict, as is shown by the statistics on legal actions between doctors and patients, lack of communication skills identified amongst patients, and cases of burnout amongst doctors. This situation calls on ethics to take two steps simultaneously. Firstly, it must not forego the duty of indicating the rules. Secondly, it must be capable of suggesting directions where those same rules can be applied. Succeeding in this task is decisive not only in domains where the ethical approach may be welcomed, but also for ethics as such, otherwise destined to be a disembodied specialization

Interdisciplinarità ed etica della comunicazione
No full textL’interdisciplinarità rappresenta oggi una nozione sempre più utilizzata e generalmente considerata sinonimo di dialogo tra saperi. Come si è giunti ad avvertire il bisogno di tale dialogo? Quali sono i fattori che hanno portato alla compartimentazione fra le discipline? Che differenza esiste tra multidisciplinarità, interdisciplinarità e transdisciplinarità? In che rapporto si trova il discorso sulla interdisciplinarità con la tradizionale distinzione tra cultura umanistica e cultura scientifica?
A partire dal celebre caso del richiamo della Ford Pinto, avvenuto negli anni Settanta negli Stati Uniti, dall’interno di molte discipline è sorta la “richiesta di etica” quale requisito necessario di molti codici deontologici. Si tratta indubbiamente di un risultato importante, sebbene ancora insufficiente rispetto alle potenzialità effettive dell’etica, se assunta nella sua capacità di cercare il necessario orientamento in dialogo con i propri interlocutori. Quale idea di filosofia consente di raggiungere questo obiettivo? Quale paradigma di comunicazione è richiesto per superare le secche di un approccio orientato meramente in senso deontologico? Quale valenza acquista l’ascolto come attitudine filosofica in grado di conciliare fatticità ed eidetica, dando così corpo alla ragion patica?
Per alludere al percorso accennato nel libro, risulta pertanto adeguata la scelta di Angerona, divinità romana, nell’iconografia ricordata nell’atto di portare il dito alla bocca nella richiesta di un silenzio attentivo, conditio sine qua non per una proposta filosofica che sappia farsi carico dell’altro

No full textUn’immagine, talvolta, è capace di dire più di molte parole.
Tuttavia, risalire al senso di una immagine può essere più complicato del previsto, come dimostra The Ambassadors, il dipinto in copertina, realizzato nel 1533 da Hans Holbein il Giovane.
Di quali fattori, dunque, occorre tener conto quando si guarda una immagine? Quanto possiamo effettivamente fidarci di ciò che vediamo? In che modo le immagini rinviano ai valori, ovvero ciò che è unico e significativo nella nostra vita?
Nella prospettiva dischiusa da questi interrogativi, viene delineandosi l’etica delle immagini, una riflessione morale sul senso stesso del vedere in cui, secondo un approccio interdisciplinare, sono interpellati diversi saperi ed esperienze visive.
In tal modo, l’etica diventa testimone fedele di un modo di guardare il mondo, attento a cogliere il darsi dell’evento, oltre ogni logica reificante

No full textThe objectivity of photographic representation is sometimes declared art- less because it springs from a process which makes use of a simplified notion of representation and similarity. However, this kind of objectivity cannot be lightheartedly abandoned, because we will not have the conceptual tools to interpret some important kinds of images.
Evaluating the degree of conformity with the true by a representation is one of the tasks of the ethics of image. It is a discipline which falls within moral philosophy, despite the fact its reference area has been mysteriously declared the exclusive preserve of aesthetics, by a prejudice that would deny the moral philosopher the right to exercise his specialty.
In taking charge of the role of the spectator, the ethics of images redis- covers: a) the role of efficacy in the communication process; b) similarities between knowing moral and hermeneutic knowledge; c) the irrevocability of the role of objectivity

When transposed to the field of philosophy, the notion of tensegrity can become the matrix to justify an approach to reality, based on the contextual action of several factors. This specificity is shown with reference to the photographs of patients allegedly hysterical, photographed at the end of the nineteenth century in the Hospital Salpêtrière in Paris. The ethics of images is anchored in this possibility. In fact, it is not indifferent with respect to both the modalities in which a knowledge can be correctly configured, and with respect to the role of the subject-spectator in such an operation
