Analysis of unspliced (FL) and singly spliced mRNAs in wt and mutant HIV-1 particles
<p><b>Copyright information:</b></p><p>Taken from "HIV controls the selective packaging of genomic, spliced viral and cellular RNAs into virions through different mechanisms"</p><p></p><p>Nucleic Acids Research 2007;35(8):2695-2704.</p><p>Published online 10 Apr 2007</p><p>PMCID:PMC1885669.</p><p>© 2007 The Author(s)</p> Singly spliced () and FL () RNAs were detected in RNA samples extracted from wt (lanes 1 and 4), ΔSL1SL3 (lanes 2 and 5) and mock (lanes 3 and 6) transfected cells and in corresponding viral particles (lanes 4–6) using standard RT-PCR. As a control, amplification was also performed using pNL4.3 plasmid as a template (lane 8). Bands corresponding to vif-2, vpr-3 and env-1 mRNAs are indicated by arrows. In the mutant virus, all amplicons were shortened by 34 nt, due to the SL1 deletion. This result is representative of at least three independent experiments
Music production in the FL Studio software in leisure activities
Much of today's teenage generation identifies with rap music. Each rap is accompanied by a beat, which is usually created in music software called a DAW. FL Studio is one of these DAWs. The aim of this thesis is to create a methodology for teaching FL Studio in hobby groups or ZUŠ. Another aim is to verify whether continuous work with FL Studio develops the student's musicality similarly to playing instrument or singing. The thesis also explores the impact of learning to work with FL Studio on learner wellbeing. Most recently, this thesis investigates the effect of the use of DAWs in primary school music education on pupils' motivation. The method of research in the thesis is case studies, the method of data collection is observation and interviews with students. The author of the paper concluded that continuous work with FL Studio really develops the pupil's musicality, it can even be a way for pupils with reduced motor skills but musical talent. The impact on pupils' wellbeing was positive for all participants observed. In music education classes, where the author applied the work with FL Studio, there was the expected revival of teaching and two pupils subsequently enrolled in the electronic music club. Finally, the author of the thesis argues that teaching music production could be one of the avenues...Velká část dnešní dospívající generace se ztotožňuje s rapovou hudbou. Katedra hudební výchovyFaculty of EducationPedagogická fakult

Are SLA Research Reports of Value for FL Teachers? On the Need for Researcher-Teacher Collaboration
Are SLA Research Reports of Value for FL Teachers? On the Need for Researcher-Teacher CollaborationThe paper discusses the issue of second language acquisition SLA research reports andthe application of their findings in practice. On the basis of interviews with researchers and practitioners as well as the author’s own experience, the reasons for the gap between theory and practice are explained. Some solutions are also offered to bridge the gap, such as teachers becoming researchers or collaboration between SLA researchers and practitioners. Finally, the author attempts to answer the question posed in the title of the paper. Since SLA research reports are not appreciated by many foreign language FL teachers, some solutions are proposed, such as eliminating research jargon, complex statistics and theoretical frameworks and introducing topics of relevance to FL teachers. The author also advocates the publication of simplified abridged versions of research reports in a special journal for FL teachers and wider dissemination of research findings among practitioners at various conferences and workshops. Are SLA Research Reports of Value for FL Teachers? The role of soft skills in FL learning
The paper constitutes an attempt to define the role of soft skills in the process of FL learning. The data derive from the questionnaire distributed among the English philology students, and reveal the subjects’ attitudes to the qualities under investigation, as well as their strengths and weaknesses within the competences given. Having identified the students’ needs, the author of the project suggests ways of developing and promoting soft skills when shaping FL competence
