Intraurban social risk and mortality patterns during extreme heat events: A case study of Moscow, 2010-2017

    No full text
There is currently an increase in the number of heat waves occurring worldwide. Moscow experienced the effects of an extreme heat wave in 2010, which resulted in more than 10,000 extra deaths and significant economic damage. This study conducted a comprehensive assessment of the social risks existing during the occurrence of heat waves and allowed us to identify the spatial heterogeneity of the city in terms of thermal risk and the consequences for public health. Using a detailed simulation of the meteorological regime based on the COSMO-CLM regional climate model and the physiologically equivalent temperature (PET), a spatial assessment of thermal stress in the summer of 2010 was carried out. Based on statistical data, the components of social risk (vulnerabilities and adaptive capacity of the population) were calculated and mapped. We also performed an analysis of their changes in 2010–2017. A significant differentiation of the territory of Moscow has been revealed in terms of the thermal stress and vulnerability of the population to heat waves. The spatial pattern of thermal stress agrees quite well with the excess deaths observed during the period from July to August 2010. The identified negative trend of increasing vulnerability of the population has grown in most districts of Moscow. The adaptive capacity has been reduced in most of Moscow. The growth of adaptive capacity mainly affects the most prosperous areas of the city. The analysis of health outcomes (S. Timonin, A. Shchur) was supported by the HSE University Basic Reseach Program .The work of M. Varentsov on determining the urban canopy parameters for COSMO-CLM simulations was partially supported by Moscow Center of Fundamental and Applied Mathematics. All parts of this research except for health outcomes analysis were funded by the Russian Science Foundation (Project No. 17-77-20070 “Assessment and Forecast of the Bioclimatic Comfort of Russian Cities under Climate Change in the 21st Century”).Peer-reviewe

Resource Allocation Problems in Information Security Strategy Planning Process

    No full text
We analyse the resource allocation problem arising in the context of information security strategy planning. The information security risk assessment method proposed by the author in his previous work serves as a base for a more dynamic parameterized model. This allows the optimal information security investment strategy to be determined by means of mathematical programming methods. The present part of the paper contains theoretical aspects of the method, while the second one will contain an application example

D. Hawksw. & W. Gams, Dictyosporium elegans Corda, Gyrothrix verticiclada (Goid.) S. Hughes & Piroz., Pseudobotrytis terrestris (Timonin) Subram., Sporendocladia bactrospora (W.B. Kendr.) M.J. Wingf. e Stachybotrys parvispora S. Hughes].Leaf litter from Clusia melchiorii Gleason and C. nemorosa G. Mey. was collected bimonthly at Serra da Jibóia, state of Bahia, from October/2005 to June/2006. The leaves were washed with tap water and maintained in a moist chamber for 30 days. The fungal structures were collected and mounted in permanent slides with PVL. Descriptions and illustrations of seven new records of Hyphomycetes from Bahia state are presented [Beltrania querna Harkn., Clonostachys compactiuscula (Sacc.) D. Hawksw. & W. Comparative ecology of over-wintering Calanus finmarchicus in the northern North Atlantic, and implications for life-cycle patterns

Data from plankton net and Optical Plankton Counter sampling during 12 winter cruises between 1994 and 2002 have been used to derive a multi-annual composite 3-D distribution of the abundance of over-wintering Calanus finmarchicus in a swath across the North Atlantic from Labrador to Norway. Dense concentrations occurred in the Labrador Sea, northern Irminger Basin, northern Iceland Basin, eastern Norwegian Sea, Faroe–Shetland Channel, and in the Norwegian Trench of the North Sea. A model of buoyancy regulation in C. finmarchicus was used to derive the lipid content implied by the in situ temperature and salinity at over-wintering depths, assuming neutral buoyancy. The Faroe–Shetland Channel and eastern Norwegian Sea emerged as having the highest water column-integrated abundances of copepodites, the lowest over-wintering temperature, and the highest implied lipid content. The results are discussed in the context of spatial persistence of populations, seasonal patterns of abundance, and relationships between over-wintering and lipid accumulation in the surface waters

In this work, the author presents the task of semantic segmentation of photos taken by camera fixed on the car during driving. The image needs to be segmented into the main objects encountered during driving, such as a car, a bus, a pedestrian, etc. The model for segmentation is based on deep convolutional neural network (DCNN). The main subject of this research is the construction of such architecture that will give high accurate results and won't require large amount of computational resources for learning process. In this paper, the author applies fine-tune method of already trained network, namely the adaptation of the DeepLabV3+ model for the current task

Introduction. In the realities of modern society experiencing the processes of globalization and informatization, there is an increasing demand for young professionals with the skills and abilities to analyze large amounts of information, able to make decisions based on data effi ciently and quickly. Theoretical analysis. This article discusses the main features of the implementation of the analytical activity of the teacher. One of the key components of a teacher’s professional competence is analytical activity, which allows to analize, predict and evaluate the results of their work, as well as quickly respond to changes in the educational environment. Interpretations of the concept of “readiness” were analyzed, and the essence and structure of the readiness of future teachers for analytical activity were revealed. The novelty of the work lies in the revision of the structural components of the teacher’s readiness for analytical activity, corresponding to modern requirements of educational standards. The necessity of training specialists with the skills and abilities to work with data and information technologies is emphasized. Conclusion. The conclusion is formulated, according to which the formation of the future teacher’s readiness for analytical activity is a necessary factor of his or her successful professional activity, which can be carried out through the use of simulation modeling software in the educational process
