Salsa magic: an exploratory netnographic analysis of the salsa experience
This is a paper about the promise of salsa dancing as unfolding social drama. We argue that a turn to dance offers much potential to reinvigorate ways of theorizing consumer culture, necessitating we take seriously talk around such experiences. Based on a netnographic analysis, which is inspired by the informative work of Kozinets (1997, 1998, 2001). We reveal how dance is a reflexive form of knowledge enacted in and through our bodies, where the settled and fixed becomes disturbed. Dance then makes possible shared passions, exhilarations and desires lacking from people's everyday lives granting them a space for expression
Regularity of the free boundary in two-phase Problems for linear elliptic operators
In this paper we complete the study of the regularity of the free boundary in two-phase problems for linear elliptic operators started in [M.C. Cerutti, F. Ferrari, S. Salsa, Two-phase problems for linear elliptic operators with variable coefficients: Lipschitz free boundaries are
C^{1,gamma} [Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 171 (2004) 329–348]. In particular we prove that Lipschitz and flat free boundaries (in a suitable sense) are smooth. As byproduct, we prove that Lipschitz free boundaries are smooth in the case of quasilinear operators of the form div(A(x,u)grad(u)) with Lipschitz coefficients
On emotions and salsa : some thoughts on dancing to rethink consumers
Dance forms are a big business, highly marketable commoditized cultural universes, with a plethora of markets constructed around their spirit, vitality and possibilities. In this paper, we explore one particular dance form, that of Salsa, arguing that as consumer researchers we look for a more vibrant vocabulary and mindset with which to capture the experiential and transcendental nature of such social associations. We demonstrate that the metaphor of dancing is useful to revitalize our notions of consumer actions; taking them out of the grey mundane of calculative and rational action into the possibilities of emotional economies constructed around the effervescence and vitality of the social (cf. Maffesoli, [1996])

Language and transnationalism : language discourse in transnational Salsa communities of practice
Language ideologies in contemporary Western societies are characterised by a strong influence of the idea that one language ‘pertains’ to one culture. Yet, cultural developments of globalisation, such as migration, the construction of transnational networks or global mass media, question national frameworks of culture and language.
In this thesis, after reviewing the field of language ideology and discussing historical examples of the development of national language discourse, language ideologies in a transnational context are examined. Using ethnographic research methods and a discursive approach to interview data, concepts and ideas revolving around language of transnational Communities of Practice constituted through Salsa dancing are analysed. Due to its connections to the Latin American cultural space, the practice of Salsa dancing in non-Latin contexts intrinsically constructs transnational ties. Different Salsa Communities of Practice are studied in Sydney, Australia, and Frankfurt, Germany. Interestingly, different local communities show very different ideologies concerning the role of language, multilingualism, concepts of authenticity or influences of capitalist discourse. The cross-national approach allows studying the influence of different national discourses on the formation of local ideologies in transnational contexts.
Thus, next to scrutinising the traditional concept of a ‘language’ and its relevance in a transnational age, the theoretical aim of this study is to analyse the interaction of discourses from different realms – local, regional, national, transnational – in the formation of contemporary discourses on language. These construct new symbolic meanings of language that co-exist next to the national concept of the relationship of language and culture, so that a multiplication of language boundaries can be considered to be a characteristic trait of contemporary language discourse
SALSA: A Python Package for Constructing Synthetic Quasar Absorption Line Catalogs from Astrophysical Hydrodynamic Simulations
SALSA: Synthetic Absorption Line Surveyor Application is a Python tool that constructs synthetic absorber catalogs from hydrodynamic galaxy simulations. SALSA heavily utilizes yt to access simulation data and Trident to create light rays/sight lines and generate synthetic spectra.
Observational studies generate large absorber catalogs by studying the absorption line spectra of distant quasars, as their light passes through intervening galaxies. Salsa can generate similar catalogs from cosmological and galactic simulations, allowing research to study these simulations from an observers perspective. This can give new insights into the data as well as help facilitate comparisons and collaboration between simulations and observations.
SALSA allows us to dip into galactic simulations and start to chip away at the many unknowns of the univers
Effects of biochar application on Suaeda salsa growth and saline soil properties
Pot experiments were conducted to study the effects of biochar application rates (5, 10, 20 g/kg) and types of wheat straw biochar (WS), corn stalk biochar (CS) and peanut shell biochar (PS) on Suaeda salsa (S. salsa) growth and properties of saline soil in Yellow River Delta. It was found that S. salsa yield increased from 11.7 to 115 % under WS application at a range of 5-10 g/kg compared with control. As biochar rate increased to 20 g/kg, the increment decreased to 102 %. The underground biomass of S. salsa only increased at 20 g/kg rate. The S. salsa growth respond to biochar followed the order of PS > WS > CS. Biochar application generally reduced saline soil pH and the effect was more obvious for WS. The content of total organic matter increased significantly at biochar rate of 10-20 g/kg. WS at higher application rate (20 g/kg) significantly increased available phosphorus content. At the same time, CS increased more available phosphorus content while PS decreased more of exchange sodium percentage. In generally, biochar application improved saline soil quality and enhanced plant growth although these effects should be tested in long-term period
In this text, you will find a proposal developed based on my years of experience in everything
related to the world of salsa and cultural management. The same one that will allow to promote from the foundations of a company, the strengthening, consolidation and visibility of the salsa,
in the context of a context of decrease of the distribution and reception of the public in the last years. However, it retains the potential to resurge from proposals such as this one, and others that are being developed in the salsa world today.
This project also presents a brief history of Salsa so that the reader has a context of how it was born, strengthens and enters Colombia, explains its name and its cultural impact and why the importance of Salsa in the music market, In the framework of the emphasis of my company and
how to provide a youthful and striking strategies for the public and above all give the salsa its value as a culture, my work presents the way in which I have developed projects and the ideal to
carry out future projects from the hand of experience, passion, knowledge, create experiences and
have the allies that allow the realization of it.
In addition, behind the project there is a young woman passionate about the genre and an
unstoppable work that if you talk about Salsa in Colombia you talk about Segura Productions and

Entangled Mobilities in the Transnational Salsa Circuit. The Esperanto of the Body, Gender and Ethnicity
With attention to the transnational dance world of salsa, this book explores the circulation of people, imaginaries, dance movements, conventions and affects from a transnational perspective. Through interviews and ethnographic, multi-sited research in several European cities and Havana, the author draws on the notion of "entangled mobilities" to show how the intimate gendered and ethnicised moves on the dance floor relate to the cross-border mobility of salsa dance professionals and their students. A combination of research on migration and mobility with studies of music and dance, Entangled Mobilities in the Transnational Salsa Circuit contributes to the fields of transnationalism, mobility and dance studies, thus providing a deeper theoretical and empirical understanding of gendered and racialised transnational phenomena. As such it will appeal to scholars across the social sciences with interests in migration, cultural studies and gender studies
Subsolutions of Elliptic Operators in Divergence Form and Application to Two-Phase Free Boundary Problems
Let be a divergence form operator with Lipschitz continuous coefficients in a domain , and let be a continuous weak solution of in . In this paper, we show that if satisfies a suitable differential inequality, then is a subsolution of away from its zero set. We apply this result to prove regularity of Lipschitz free boundaries in two-phase problems.</p
