    Leptosaldinea cobbeni sp.nov. (Figs. 1–12) Type material. Holotype: macropterous female preserved in a piece of Burmese amber which is embedded in a block of transparent artificial resin for better conservation, provided with following red label: “ Holotype / Leptosaldinea gen.nov. / cobbeni sp. nov. / des. Heiss & Popov, 2015 ”. The holotype is deposited in the collection of the second author (EH) at the Tiroler Landesmuseum, Innsbruck, Austria. Body convex; left eye and pronotal margin damaged, surface of median part of pronotum, scutellum and clavus missing and probably eaten by scavengers, their remains depressed and not clearly discernible; legs and antennae complete with long spines and setae. Description. As given in the generic diagnosis and description. Measurements (mm). Length 2.75; width of hemelytra 1.35; length of antennae 1.95, ratio length of antennae / width of head = 2.78; length of antennal segments I:II:III:IV = 0.15: 0.25: 0.75: 0.80; length of rostral segments I:II:III:IV =?: 0.15: 0.20: 0.20; length of pronotum at middle 0.4, anterior width 0.5, posterior width 0.85; scutellum length 0.37; legs: femur:tibia:tarsus including claws: fore leg 0.875: 0.8: 0.4; middle leg 0.875: 0.875: 0.375; hind leg 1.0: 1.40: 0.5. Drawings might show slight differences to given measurements because of partly obscured visibility of structures. Etymology.     European policies for social inclusion of Roma : Catch 22?

    The article analyzes contemporary political discourses with regard to social inclusion of Roma on the basis of comparison with achievements and failures in the previous historical period of the communist rule in Eastern Europe. It argues that since the vast majority of the European Roma had lived in the past and continue living nowadays in the countries of Eastern Europe, no successful policy for their inclusion is possible without taking into account the experiences and outcomes of the actions for Roma integration in the socialist period. The experience from the times of socialism shows that successful policies are possible only in an appropriate socio-political context and only if accomplished within the mainstream approach. Against this background, the article scrutinizes the European Policies for Social Inclusion of Roma, and explains why they present a Catch 22 situation: There is a vicious cycle of problems which need to be solved; the solution requires a special policy for inclusion, however this policy stigmatizes Roma and sets them even more apart from the rest of society. Thus the vicious cycle of problems expands. The main point of the article is to propose an explanation of this failure of democracy and liberalism, which could constitute a useful lesson for the future.Peer reviewe

    A revised inventory of Antarctic subglacial lakes

    The locations and details of 145 Antarctic subglacial lakes are presented. The inventory is based on a former catalogue of lake-type features, which has been subsequently reanalysed, and on the results from three additional datasets. The first is from Italian radio-echo sounding (RES) of the Dome C region of East Antarctica, from which 14 new lakes are identified. These data also show that, in a number of occasions, multiple lake-type reflectors thought previously to be individual lakes are in fact reflections from the same relatively large lake. This reduces the former total of lake-type reflectors by six, but also adds a significant level of information to these particular lakes. The second dataset is from a Russian survey of the Dome A and Dome F regions of East Antarctica, which provides evidence of 18 new lakes and extends the coverage of the inventory considerably. The third dataset comprises three airborne RES surveys undertaken by the US in East Antarctica over the last five years, from which forty three new lakes have been identified. Reference to information on Lake Vostok, from Italian and US surveys taken in the last few years, is now included

    The pioneers of Chinese studies in Russia were the Orthodox missionaries in Beijing from 1715 (Kangxi 54). From 1807 (Jiaqing 12) Russian missionaries in Beijing devoted themselves to studying Chinese as a linguistic subject. There are two interesting Russian-Chinese dictionaries §²§å§ã§ã§Ü§à- §¬§Ú§ä§Ñ§Û§ã§Üi§Û §³§Ý§à§Ó§Ñ§â§î¡¶¶íºººÏèµ×ֻ㡷(É H¨¤n H¨¦b¨¬ Z¨¬hu¨¬, Russian-Chinese Dictionaries) and §²§å§ã§ã§Ü§à-§¬§Ú§ä§Ñ§Û§ã§Üi§Û §³§Ý§à§Ó§Ñ§â§î¡¶¶íºººÏèµÔö²¹×ֻ㡷(É H¨¤n H¨¦b¨¬ Z¨¥ngb¨³ Z¨¬hu¨¬, Russian-Chinese Dictionaries), edited by the authoritative Russian sinologist P. S. Popov, published first in 1879 with a second edition in 1900. These Dictionaries are new materials for studying Chinese language from 1879 to 1900. I will therefore narrow my research to these two Popov¡¯s Dictionaries. The hypothesis of this research is that the phonetic record of Popov¡¯s two Dictionaries (1879, 1900) are correct and can be used as reliable and valuable historical documents suitable for further research in the field of phonetics study of Pekingese of the late 19th century. In order to determine if the hypothesis of the research is correct, I need to explain and answer the issues and questions as list below: •Determine the accuracy of the phonetic records of these two editions. This is the main thrust of my research, and the point upon which the entire thesis rests. •Determine the relative stability or instability of Pekingese phonetics from 1879 to 1900. If the phonetics of Pekingese of that period based on the phonetic recordings of the two Dictionaries did not change, we can say that Pekingese was ¡°stable¡± at that time; if it is an opposite case, this phenomenon must be explained. The purposes of this research are: •To introduce Popov, P. S., and his two Russian-Chinese Dictionaries edited in 1879 and 1900 •To determine the accuracy of the phonetic records in the Russian-Chinese Dictionaries edited by Popov, P. S. in 1879 and 1900, in order to test that they are reliable historical documents suitable for further research in the field of phonetics study of Pekingese of the last century •To determine why the number of pronunciations of some characters during the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries has decreased in present Pekingese, in order to illustrate the historical development of the phonetics of Pekinges

    Grimaldinia pronotalis sp. n. (Figs. 1–2, photo 1–2) Holotype. Submacropterous specimen, sex not determined, in a half-moon shaped piece of Burmese Amber (20 x 4 x 7mm) embedded in a block of transparent resin; left forewing damaged by an oval cut out probably caused by scavengers; specimen is ventrally attached to a strip of lizard skin, thus ventral side of specimen is not visible, lateral view partly obscured by amber impurities; membraneous hind wing of the left forewing is laterally roundly exposed and overlapping the right fore wing, its surface showing dense microsculpture and longitudinal venation. Deposited as BUB-LEP- 1 in the collection of the second author. Description. As given in the generic diagnosis and description. Coloration of dorsal and ventral side (as far as visible) uniformly black. Measurements. Length 3.0mm; head width / length 45 / 24, anterior width between eyes 6; pronotum length at middle / width 11 / 27, length laterally 14; scutellum length / width 33 / 33; length of eye 10, diameter 4. Etymology.     Supernova explosions of runaway stars and young neutron stars above the Galactic plane

    Context. Several supernova remnants and young neutron stars were recently discovered relatively high above the Galactic plane. Understanding their origin will provide key insights into the properties of the Galactic halo. One possibility is that they originated from runaway OB stars born in the Galactic disk.Aims. We aim to determine the spatial distribution of supernova explosions from runaway OB stars and to assess whether this model can explain certain observed neutron stars.Methods. We mapped the distribution of supernova events produced by runaway OB stars by incorporating their birth rate, initial spatial distribution, lifetime, ejection mechanisms, and velocity distributions. By tracking their motion in the Galactic potential, we determined their final distribution right before the explosion.Results. We show that the neutron star Calvera, which is found at z approximate to 2.2 kpc, could have originated from a runaway OB star. In addition, we compared the probabilities of finding a supernova remnant originating from Type Ia and core-collapse supernovae high above the Galactic plane, finding that supernova remnants related to core-collapse supernovae outnumber those related to Type Ia supernovae
