Relational Capital’s Support in Innovating a Female-Run Business: The Case of an Italian Organic Farm
Relational capital (RC) is of utmost importance in all organisations, especially in female-run companies where the role of relationships could contribute to the success of the businesses, due to the female entrepreneurs’ ability to establish and adequately manage them. Another peculiarity of businesswomen is that they are more likely to implement disruptive changes, but to do so, they still need support to realise it effectively.
An analysis of the existing literature reveals that no studies have focused on how RC may support innovation in a female-run enterprise. Therefore, the present study attempts to explore what relationships could enable the innovation process. To do so, a female-run Italian firm is examined in a particular and crucial moment of its life—its shift from traditional to organic agriculture. The analysis is performed using the CAOS (C—Caratteristiche personali, A—Ambiente, O—Organizzazione and S—start-up) model (Paoloni, 2021, The C.A.O.S. model. Giappichelli), which allows comprehending and commenting on RC, based on the connection of the typical factors that influence a particular time period. In the present work, it is the moment when the radical change is made
Development perspectives of relation capital in women-led firms
The purpose of the paper is to analyze the strategic role of relational capital for the achievement of sustainable
development in Italian micro and small tourist businesses run by women. The paper focuses on the tourism
enterprises because that sector constitute 10 % of the Italian GDP. The qualitative research methodology that has
been used is that of case study research (Yin, 2009). Such process consisted in a survey with an ad-hoc
questionnaire developed to analyze the distinctive features of a woman-owned micro and small enterprise that
can be identified with the CAOS model (Paoloni, 2011). The paper applies the CAOS model examining the
personal characteristics of the female entrepreneur (C); the environment in which the in SMEs operates (A);
organizational and managerial aspects (O); and the motivations for manage a new business (S). This model is
able to link these factors and classify different types of connections, it is possible to identify the kind of existing
relations. The paper intends to help address a gap in the existing literature regarding the management and
governance of tourism firms run by women. The paper can contribute to improving the competitiveness Italian
enterprises studying how women entrepreneurs manage her business
On the influence of electron-beam parameters on TWT small-signal gain
The electron beam is one of the main components in traveling-wave tubes (TWTs). A study on the influence of the parameters related to the electron beam on small-signal gain of TWTs is proposed. In particular, the effect of the variations of electron-beam voltage, the perveance of the electron gun, and electron beam radius are investigated. A five-section TWT was considered in the study. Women in business: development perspectives of relational capital
Structured Abstract
Purpose – The purpose of the paper is to analyze the strategic role of relational capital for the achievement of sustainable development in Italian micro and small tourist businesses run by women. The paper focuses on the tourism enterprises because that sector constitute 10 % of the Italian GDP.
Design/methodology/approach – The qualitative research methodology that has been used is that of case study research (Yin, 2009). Such process consisted in a survey with an ad-hoc questionnaire developed to analyze the distinctive features of a woman-owned micro and small enterprise that can be identified with the CAOS model (Paoloni, 2011).
Originality/value – The paper applies the CAOS model examining the personal characteristics of the female entrepreneur (C); the environment in which the in SMEs operates (A); organizational and managerial aspects (O); and the motivations for manage a new business (S). This model is able to link these factors and classify different types of connections, it is possible to identify the kind of existing relations.
Practical implications – The paper intends to help address a gap in the existing literature regarding the management and governance of tourism firms run by women. The paper can contribute to improving the competitiveness Italian enterprises studying how women entrepreneurs manage her business.
AN APPROACH TO DISTRIBUTED-AMPLIFIER BASED ON A DESIGN-ORIENTED FET MODEL
A Design-Oriented FET model in conjunction with an appropriate design procedure for distributed amplifiers is presented. The advantage of including the effects caused by FET parasitics in a newly defined simple unilateral FET circuit to be utilized in the conventional distributed amplifier design procedure allows an accurate prediction of the low-frequency gain and the 3-dB cutoff frequency, The simplicity of this formulation and a set of generalized design charts provide an interesting opportunity to designers. Comparisons among different experimental data from literature and the results obtained by this theory confirm the validity of the Design-Oriented FET model and the effectiveness of the given graphical design method
