A serial powering pixel stave prototype for the ATLAS ITk upgrade
One of the main challenges for the ATLAS ITk Phase II Pixel upgrade is low-mass efficient power distribution for detector modules. This requires a powering scheme alternative to the parallel (direct) powering which is currently used. A serial powering scheme has been chosen as the baseline for the ITk pixel system. A serially powered pixel detector prototype has been built with all the components that are needed for current distribution, data transmission, bypassing and redundancy in order to prove the feasibility of implementing serial powering scheme in the ITk. Detailed investigations of the electrical performance of the detector prototype equipped with FE-I4 quad modules have been made with the help of the USBpix3 readout system that has been developed in Bonn

Nonlinear signal processing by means of surface magnetostatic waves: solitons in metallized structures
Nonlinear magnetostatic waves (MSWs) have recently received considerable attention for their potentialities in microwave signal processing through the generation of phenomena like modulation instability and solitons, typical of optical devices too. In this paper, the generation of MSW solitons is analyzed from a theoretical and experimental point of view, giving an engineering approach of the problem. The nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) used for describing the physical effect is here used as a basis for a circuital analysis of a MSW delay line, to model the propagation of nonlinear surface wave pulses. Experimental results are given to confirm the validity of such a model
The Origin of G. S. hominis, cardinis, ordinis (G.S. of -N Stem -ōnis vs. -inis)
The paper deals with an oddity in Latin morphology: the fact that a number of nouns (margō, ōrdō,
cardō, homō and nēmō), in spite of being masculine, have, contrary to the general tendency, the G. S. in
-inis instead of -ōnis. Some of the nouns (margō, ōrdō, cardō), unlike the other masculine nouns, retained
their original G. S. form in -inis (which traces back to Old Latin *-ones) presumably due to analogy with
the large group of feminine nouns in -dō, -gō because they have the same consonant at the end of stem. The
G. S. of another exception, homō, is explained by analogy with the neuter nouns of the type nomen, nominis.
The author also argues that the majority of G. S.-ōnis of feminina abstracta in -iō (type nātiō, -ōnis) can be
explained phonologically without referring to their gender. Refs 8
