Vulnerability of buildings exposed to dynamic flooding.
Repeatedly, dynamic flooding causes high loss in many mountain regions all over the world. Dynamic flooding is a group of hazard processes includingfluvial sediment transport, debris floods, and debris flows, as well as to some extent flash flood hazards if these are related to mountaincatchments. Regardless of the magnitude and frequency, the consequences of dynamic flooding are strongly connected to the vulnerability of elements at risk, such as people, buildings and infrastructure. Several methods to assess physical vulnerability of buildings towards these processesare available. The plethora of methods andapproaches, however, makes a comparison between different case studies challenging. Assessment methodscan be classified inthree categories: vulnerability matrices, vulnerability curves and vulnerability indices. We provide a short review of these methods and discuss theirdominance in the scientific debate onmountain hazard risk managementover the last decade, giving an emphasis to vulnerability curves. Furthermore, challenges in vulnerability assessment including data requirements, uncertainties, and needs for improved event documentation are outlined
LIGHT POLLUTION IN LEO-SATELLITE TRACKING

in Odessa city, only the observations of LEO (low
Earth orbit)-satellites are performed in the main office of
the Astronomical observatory of Odessa National University
named after I.I. Mechnikov. As the one of the observation
results we obtain the sky background measurements
along the satellite’s way through the sky (at different azimuths
and altitudes that change during the satellite tracking).
We propose the method of irregular extinction
changes diagnostics that realized by using the different data
filtration methods. Also as the result of our analysis of these
observations we present azimuth-altitude diagram of sky
background that shows the most significant light pollution
at the north-western and northern directions caused by the
Port of Odessa and the stadium “Chernomorets”
Catastrophic glacial multi-phase mass movements: a special type of glacial hazard
Many glacier-related hazards are well typified and studied, but some events stand out from conventional classifications. The Kolka-Karmadon catastrophic event on 20 September 2002 in North Ossetia, North Caucasus, Russia is used as an example of a complex glacier failure exhibiting characteristics such as high mobility, long runout, ultrarapid movement and multiphase behaviour. We consider terminology protocol for glacier hazard classification and then, using the Kolka-Karmadon event and several other examples from around the world, we propose a new term for this family of events. Catastrophic glacier multi-phase mass movement (CGMM) is described and further illustrated by eight major events from Russia, Georgia, Peru, Chile, and Canada. CGMM have a combination of specific features: extraordinary velocities and long-distance runout despite low path angle; progressive fluidisation along travel path; superelevation and run-up of the moving mass, air blast wave in the avalanche flow phase; entrainment of available materials in its path, and the repeated nature of the event. CGMM events may affect areas remote from glaciers which were previously considered as safe

On advancing of glaciers due to activity of the Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano (Kamchatka)
New data on continuing advance of the Kamchatka glaciers Erman, Vlodavets, Sopochny, Schmidt, and Bogdanovich were obtained as a result of analysis of aerospace information taken at different times. Glacier Erman advances during the past 70 years (1945–2016). Over the period from 1949 to 2016, its area increased by 4.7 km2 and the length – by 3.3 km (from 18.2 to 21.5 km). The highest speed of advancing had been estimated for the Schmidt glacier, in 2007–2013 it exceeded 100 m/year. We had identified a new isolated glacier between glaciers Erman and Schmidt, named as the Obvalny (the «Avalanche») glacier, since in 1945 this glacier was buried under volcanic-avalanche deposits resulted from the Klyuchevskaya volcano eruption. In 1975–2016, the Obvalny glacier advanced over a distance of about 1700 m. Also, we had found more 30 ice-rock massifs («wandering glaciers») on slopes of the Klyuchevskaya volcano. Their contours looked like drops or tongues, and some of them advanced in the frontal zone. From 2002 to 2016, the «wandering glacier» in the upper reaches of river Glubokaya (eastern sector of the volcano) advanced for 740 m (55 m/year). Advancing of glaciers here is a consequence of lateral and terminal eruptions of the Klyuchevskaya volcano in XX and XXI centuries.
