The reaction of molibdenum(VI) dioxo derivatives with hetrocumulenes
The reactions of ArNSO (Ar = p-MeC6H4) with cis-Mo(O)2(chel)2 (chel = S2CNEt2, CH3COCH- COCHH3) give the molybdenum(VI) oxo-arylimido derivatives, Mo(O)(NAr)(hel)2, and sulphur dioxide. From cis-Mo(O)2(S2CNEt2)2 and CyNCO (Cy = C6H11) the dimeric Mo2O3(S2CNEt2)4 is obtained, with the concomitant formation of carbon dioxide and biuret, (CyNHCO)2NCy. The spectroscopic properties of the molybdenum(VI) oxo-arylimido derivatives are reported and the possible reaction mechanisms are discussed
Frequency-comb-based fast and precise continuous-wave terahertz spectroscopy for non-destructive testing
This study presents an advanced continuous-wave terahertz spectroscopy referenced to a frequency comb to enhance the reliability of non-destructive testing. Through heterodyne photomixing of fixed and swept lasers in a near-infrared regime, we generate a frequency-sweeping terahertz signal (0.1–2.5 THz) with >10 THz/s sweep rate. The frequency comb ensures precise spectral definition, with frequency instabilities tens of MHz at a single sweep, which can be further reduced by increasing averaging times. This precision allows accurate measurement of the physical properties and geometry of tested objects, benefiting the semiconductor and battery industries by improving product quality
Frequency-comb-based ultrastable terahertz-frequency synthesizer traceable to an optical reference
The terahertz spectral regime finds applications in terahertz spectroscopy and next-generation wireless communications, necessitating improved frequency stability and accuracy. This study presents a novel approach to achieve ultra-stable terahertz continuous-wave generation by referencing an optical cavity using an optical frequency comb. The results demonstrate an extended operating frequency range of 0.1-1.1 THz with frequency stability of about 10-15 at 1 s. This exceptional level of stability has significant implications for terahertz wave research, holding the potential for groundbreaking advancements in both fundamental and industrial applications

Self-assessment of psychic and psychical qualities by future teachers and pedagogic-psychologists
Степанов Владимир Алексеевич. Кандидат педагогических наук, доцент кафедры общей психологии Южно-Уральского государственного университета:[email protected]. Vladimir A. Stepanov. Candidate of pedagogical sciences, docent of department of general psychology of South Ural University: [email protected].
The author compares the data of the experimental studies on self-assessment of psychic and psychical qualities by future teachers and pedagogic-psychologists. He comes to the conclusion that the development and formation of selfesteem is an important condition of individuality development. The author considers the creation of favorable conditions for the formation and development of self-esteem to be an important goal for educative system
A Genetically-Engineered Thyroid Gland Built for Selective Triiodothyronine Secretion
Thyroid hormones (thyroxine, T4, and triiodothyronine, T3) are indispensable for sustaining vertebrate life, and their deficiency gives rise to a wide range of symptoms characteristic of hypothyroidism, affecting 5–10% of the world’s population. The precursor for thyroid hormone synthesis is thyroglobulin (Tg), a large iodoglycoprotein consisting of upstream regions I-II-III (responsible for synthesis of most T4) and the C-terminal CholinEsterase-Like (ChEL) domain (responsible for synthesis of most T3, which can also be generated extrathyroidally by T4 deiodination). Using CRISPR/Cas9-mediated mutagenesis, we engineered a knock-in of secretory ChEL into the endogenous TG locus. Secretory ChEL acquires Golgi-type glycans and is properly delivered to the thyroid follicle lumen, where T3 is first formed. Homozygous knock-in mice are capable of thyroidal T3 synthesis but largely incompetent for T4 synthesis such that T4-to-T3 conversion contributes little. Instead, T3 production is regulated thyroidally by thyrotropin (TSH). Compared to cog/cog mice with conventional hypothyroidism (low serum T4 and T3), the body size of ChEL-knock-in mice is larger; although, these animals with profound T4 deficiency did exhibit a marked elevation of serum TSH and a large goiter, despite normal circulating T3 levels. ChEL knock-in mice exhibited a normal expression of hepatic markers of thyroid hormone action but impaired locomotor activities and increased anxiety-like behavior, highlighting tissue-specific differences in T3 versus T4 action, reflecting key considerations in patients receiving thyroid hormone replacement therapy
PKC in rat dorsal raphe nucleus plays a key role in sleep-wake regulation
Studies suggest a tight relationship between protein kinase C (PKC) and circadian clock. However, the role of PKC in sleep-wake regulation remains unclear. The present study was conducted to investigate the role of PKC signaling in sleep-wake regulation in the rat. Our results showed that the phosphorylation level of PKC in dorsal raphe nucleus (DRN) was decreased after 6 h sleep deprivation, while no alterations were found in ventrolateral preoptic nucleus (VLPO) or locus coeruleus (LC). Microinjection of a pan-PKC inhibitor, chelerythrine chloride (CHEL, 5 or 10 nmol), into DRN of freely moving rats promoted non rapid eye movement sleep (NREMS) without influences on rapid eye movement sleep (REMS). Especially, CHEL application at 5 nmol increased light sleep (LS) time while CHEL application at 10 nmol increased slow wave sleep (SWS) time and percentage. On the other hand, microinjection of CaCl2 into DRN not only increased the phosphorylation level of PKC, but also reduced NREMS time, especially SWS time and percentage. While CHEL abolished the inhibitory effect of CaCl2 on NREMS and SWS. These data provide the first direct evidence that inhibition of intracellular PKC signaling in DRN could increase NREMS time including SWS time and percentage, while activation of PKC could suppress NREMS and reduce SWS time and percentage. These novel findings further our understanding of the basic cellular and molecular mechanisms of sleep-wake regulation. (C) 2015 Elsevier Inc.
