    A mathematical model of odor dispersion from a wastewater treatment plant

    Smell is an important criterion of the quality of atmospheric air. The paper looks at quantitative and qualitative methods of odor assessment and describes the method of field olfactometry. Studies were carried out on the spread of odor from the WWTP OAO OKOS in the Kaliningrad region of Russia which resulted in 817 measurements. For each measurement, the following parameters were recorded: odor strength (D/T), odor character, atmospheric pressure (mmHg), temperature (°C), relative humidity (%), wind speed (m/s), wind direction and the the point where a measurement was taken. A mathematical model is given of the dependence of odor strength on the distance to two sources s1 (m) and s2 (m) and the wind direction from a straight line passing through a given point and a source 1 — a1 or a source 2 — a2

    AN EFFICIENT SPEECH GENERATIVE MODEL BASED ON DETERMINISTIC/STOCHASTIC SEPARATION OF SPECTRAL ENVELOPES

    The paper presents a speech generative model that provides an efficient way of generating speech waveform from its amplitude spectral envelopes. The model is based on hybrid speech representation that includes deterministic (harmonic) and stochastic (noise) components. The main idea behind the approach originates from the fact that speech signal has a determined spectral structure that is statistically bound with deterministic/stochastic energy distribution in the spectrum. The performance of the model is evaluated using an experimental low-bitrate wide-band speech coder. The quality of reconstructed speech is evaluated using objective and subjective methods. Two objective quality characteristics were calculated: Modified Bark Spectral Distortion (MBSD) and Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ). Narrow-band and wide-band versions of the proposed solution were compared with MELP (Mixed Excitation Linear Prediction) speech coder and AMR (Adaptive Multi-Rate) speech coder, respectively. The speech base of two female and two male speakers were used for testing. The performed tests show that overall performance of the proposed approach is speaker-dependent and it is better for male voices. Supposedly, this difference indicates the influence of pitch highness on separation accuracy. In that way, using the proposed approach in experimental speech compression system provides decent MBSD values and comparable PESQ values with AMR speech coder at 6,6 kbit/s. Additional subjective listening testsdemonstrate that the implemented coding system retains phonetic content and speaker’s identity.     Obtaining data on the results of the study of Ukrainian scholars on radical Jihadism is the purpose of this study. To achieve this goal, the study uses analysis and hermeneutics as its research methods. The research found that in the Ukrainian Islamic studies, there are now five main areas of research: theoretical, historical, social, economical and the area of security provision. In Ukraine, the problem of radical Jihadism is considered within the framework of the security research direction. The study showed that the security trend in Ukrainian Islamic studies is still poorly presented. A few studies have been written on this topic. Among the authors dealing with this problem, it is necessary to name such researchers as M. Azarov, S. Zin’ko, M. Kiryushko, S. Kuzmin, O. Licarenko, V. Ostroukhov, and V. Petryk. In particular, V. Ostroukhov, O. Likarenko, and V. Petrik identified six signs that separate Islamist extremism from moderate Islam. S. Zin’ko argued that Europe has not yet developed a pan–European approach to counteracting radical Islam. The implementation of large–scale scientific research projects on the study of the dangers of radical Jihadism is still ahead in Ukraine

    In the paper, the methodology for the ecological environmental impact assessment of the forest fire consequences under complex radiation conditions of fire load has been proposed on the basis of the scientific researches of leading experts in the field of forest fires simulation, such as Abramov Yu. O., Komyak V. O., Kutsenko L. M., Lytvyn N. V., Pokrovsky R. L., Tarasenko O. A., Vasyliev S. V., Soznik O. P. The analysis determines that the stochastic nature of the processes of forest fires occurrence, development, extension and variation of the degree of vegetation burning in the forest areas depend on the fire load, season of the year and other fire-technical and meteorological factors, which in turn are complicated by the content of radionuclides with different activity times. The information base of this technique is a model where forest is considered as a single-layer two-phase medium consisting of air and gaseous pyrolysis products during combustion of forest combustible materials and their solid pyrolysis products. While constructing a physical-mathematical model of a two-phase heterogeneous mixture the methods of solid-state mechanics was used, which made it possible to present the fire load as a two-component continuum with interpenetrating phase motion and interphase mass, momentum, and energy exchange. During the research, the adequacy of the proposed methodological apparatus was checked and the main directions of its further application as a basis for solving the problems of forecasting the negative environmental impact on the environment were determined. The practical significance of the obtained results is the possibility of their use for complex ecological audits of the territory which is subject to the secondary radiation influence both inside and outside the exclusion zone of the Chornobyl NPP

    The Evaluation of Impact of Cable Power Lines on the Environment

    The thermal impact of cable power lines and structural materials of cables on the environment has been considered. A quantitative evaluation of the thermal impact of electrical cables with cross-linked polyethylene insulation on the environment was carried out using the Elcut program. Analysis of the temperature field near the loaded cable line of 10 kV demonstrated high values of soil temperature that negatively affects its redox potential and living organisms. To evaluate the environmental impact of electrical cable materials, an approach has been developed that takes into account not only the toxicity of the materials but also their volumetric content in the cable. Cable lines with cables with traditional paper-oil insulation cause more damage to the environment than cable lines with cables, insulated with crosslinked polyethylene. The environment, in turn, also has an impact on the electrical cables: the values of long-term permissible load currents depend on the ambient temperature (when laying cables in the open air, in an earthen trench or in cable rooms). The impact of solar radiation on the thermal conditions of the electric cable is estimated. A comparative analysis of the complex environmental impact of electric cables with traditional insulation and insulation of crosslinked polyethylene demonstrated that unarmored cable with crosslinked polyethylene insulation at a voltage of 10 kV (regardless of the type of its shell) causes less damage to the environment than the same traditional cable throughout the considered temperature range on their surfaces
