Water-saving Rice Production Technologies in Krishna Western Delta Command of Andhra Pradesh – An Economic Analysis
The economic analysis of water-saving rice production technologies, viz. system of rice intensification (SRI), semi-dry and rotational irrigation vis-Ã -vis farmers’ practice has been carried out based on the study executed in Modukuru pilot area of Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. Among the three water-saving rice production technologies analyzed, the total cost of cultivation has been recorded highest in SRI (Rs 58645/ha), followed by rotational (Rs 47140/ha) and semi-dry (Rs 39321/ha). But, the per hectare yield has been found highest in SRI (6.85 t), followed by semi-dry (6.66 t) and rotational (6.2 t), inferring that all the three technologies have recorded higher yields over farmers’ practice of 5.5 t/ha. However, the net returns and B-C ratio are maximum in semi-dry (Rs 43,484/ha; 1.11), followed by rotational (Rs 30,085; 0.64) and SRI (Rs 26,466/ha; 0.45) methods. Similarly, the water-use efficiency has been found highest in SRI (8.53 kg/ ha-mm), followed by semi-dry (8.02 kg/ha-mm) and rotational (7.33 kg/ ha-mm) methods, while the water-use efficiency benefit (Rs/ha-mm) has been recorded maximum in semi-dry (52.39), followed by SRI (42.08) and rotational (35.56) methods. With the initiation of Andhra Pradesh Water Management Project, Bapatla, the area under semi-dry rice cultivation has been found increasing over a period of four years, from 0.6 ha in 2004-2005 to 22 ha in 2007 -2008.Agricultural and Food Policy,

Granulometric Studies on Modern Barrier System of the Right Bank of Krishna Delta, East Coast of India
283-286Granulometric studies have been undertaken on 3 sand spits present on the right bank of the Krishna River confluence with the Bay of Bengal. The size parameters (mean size, standard deviation, skewness and kurtosis) and CM diagrams are discussed. The past and the present growth rates of the delta are evaluated to support the granulometric studies. Major spits 1 and 2 have reached stability while spit 3, which emerged at the mouth is still in active growth. The progradation of the Krishna Delta is due to the development of the bars and spits, leading to the consequent filling of the lagoonal areas. The present progradation of the deltaic facies ultimately may pave the way for the disappearance of the bay
Fuel Consumption Monitoring for Travel Demand Modeling
The purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of fuel consumption patterns on travel demand estimation. This paper evaluates and calibrates travel demand estimation by CUBE software and its relation to fuel consumption, with the use of data provided by Sharif University, for the city of Shiraz, Iran in 1999. This research proves the presence strong correlations between vehicle fuel use and the trip's generation process by exogenous and endogenous variables. Systematic Review on Impact of Different Irradiance Forecasting Techniques for Solar Energy Prediction
As non-renewable energy sources are in the verge of exhaustion, the entire world turns towards renewable sources to fill its energy demand. In the near future, solar energy will be a major contributor of renewable energy, but the integration of unreliable solar energy sources directly into the grid makes the existing system complex. To reduce the complexity, a microgrid system is a better solution. Solar energy forecasting models improve the reliability of the solar plant in microgrid operations. Uncertainty in solar energy prediction is the challenge in generating reliable energy. Employing, understanding, training, and evaluating several forecasting models with available meteorological data will ensure the selection of an appropriate forecast model for any particular location. New strategies and approaches emerge day by day to increase the model accuracy, with an ultimate objective of minimizing uncertainty in forecasting. Conventional methods include a lot of differential mathematical calculations. Large data availability at solar stations make use of various Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques for computing, forecasting, and predicting solar radiation energy. The recent evolution of ensemble and hybrid models predicts solar radiation accurately compared to all the models. Geochemical studies of the river-estuarine systems of Krishna and Godavari
During summer season, the Krishna River waters are enriched in major cations Na, K, Mg, Ca and Si by a factor of 1.2-1.9, in U by a factor of 3 and in δ D by 14.2 % compared to those of Godavari. The high δ D of Krishna River waters (+ 1.6 %) over those of Godavari (- 12.6 %) indicate relatively more evaporation of the former by 15%. The Uranium concentrations of Krishna waters at Vijayawada is 2.6 °g/l which decreases to 1.6 °g/l at Puligadda which is approximately 100 km whereas the 234U/ 238U activity ratio at both place is identical 1065 ± 0.03 suggesting authigenic removal of U does not appear to behave conservatively in the Krishna estuary as has been its behaviour in other India and some world rivers; there is removal of U from the Krishna estuarine waters. The major cations and δ D behave conservatively in both Krishna and Godavari estuaries. Si behaves almost conservatively in the Krishna Estuary whereas in the Godavari estuary there is about 15% Si removal. The fluxes of all the measured constituents from Krishna and Godavari to the Bay of Bengal during the non-monsoon period are calculated. The clay, silt and sand fractions as well as the Al, Fe, Mn, Cr and Ni concentrations of the clay fractions were determined in Krishna estuarine sediments. The non-monsoonal fluxes from Krishna River to the Bay of Bengal are also estimated
