Letter from Itoko S. [Sano] to Dorothy Okine, August 6, 1946
A letter from Itoko Sano to her friend, Dorothy Okine. She located Dorothy's address by looking in the Palms Book and encloses a copy of the Hanky Club in the letter. She includes updates, such as going to a show, "Rhapsody in blue," in Norwalk along with George Asawa, Florence, and Miyako. She also informs Dorothy that she is going to change her Japanese name, Itoko, to an English name, June, when school starts. The Okine Collection contains materials collected by Seiichi and Tomeyo Okine who were Issei flower growers in Whittier, California. It includes correspondence, photographs, financial documents, and a photo album. A large portion of the collection consists of family correspondence with Seiichi and Tomeyo Okine, including letters from their Nisei children, Masao and Makoto Okine, both soldiers overseas during World War II, to their Issei parents incarcerated in the Rohwer incarceration camp in McGehee, Arkansas. The correspondence also includes letters from their relatives and friends who are former incarcerees in the camps during the war and have “resettled” in Chicago, Illinois as well as letters from the Okines’ family members in Hiroshima, Japan during the Allied occupation of Japan. In addition, the collection includes a family photo album compiled by Dorothy Ai Aoki, a Nisei daughter to the Okines

L’irrompere del «fiat creatore». Bespaloff con e oltre Heidegger
The article analyzes Rachel Bespaloff ’s critique of Heidegger’s conception of freedom, highli- ghting the absence of an essential element: the «fiat creator», or the act of pure creation that transcends the limits of existing reality. Bespaloff argues that Heideggerian freedom is con- strained by historical and cultural conditions, while authentic freedom must include the ar- tistic capacity to generate new expressive forms. The author also emphasizes the importance of imagination and sensitivity, particularly through music, as key tools for achieving a deeper and more authentic understanding of human existence
Characterising modal definability of team-based logics via the universal modality
We study model and frame definability of various modal logics. Let denote the fragment of modal logic extended with the universal modality in which the universal modality occurs only positively. We show that a class of Kripke models is definable in if and only if the class is elementary and closed under disjoint unions and surjective bisimulations. We also characterise the definability of in the spirit of the well-known Goldblatt–Thomason theorem. We show that an elementary class of Kripke frames is definable in if and only if is closed under taking generated subframes and bounded morphic images, and reflects ultrafilter extensions and finitely generated subframes. In addition we study frame definability relative to finite transitive frames and give an analogous characterisation of -definability relative to finite transitive frames. Finally, we initiate the study of model and frame definability in team-based logics. We study (extended) modal dependence logic, (extended) modal inclusion logic, and modal team logic. We establish strict linear hierarchies with respect to model definability and frame definability, respectively. We show that, with respect to model and frame definability, the before mentioned team-based logics, except modal dependence logic, either coincide with or plain modal logic . Thus as a corollary we obtain model theoretic characterisation of model and frame definability for the team-based logics.

“Mimi-udon”.Japanese home-made cuisine of the next generation in Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture
The purpose of this study is to examine the origins and present of local udon noodles as they have been passed down in Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture. Mimi-udon is a local dish that has been handed down in the Semba area, of Sano City. The Semba area is a district in which the inhabitants did not eat rice cakes during the New Year, and instead Mimi-udon was mainly served as a New Year’s event food.
There are various theories about the origin of the name. One claims that it comes from trimmings of udon noodles (called“ mimi”). Another theory claims it is from old lore regarding“ mimifusagi-mochi,” the folk belief that“ if one eats ear-shaped food during the New Year, they will not hear anything bad all year round”.
It is widely believed that Mimi-udon began to be made sometime between the middle Edo period and the Meiji period. Since its cooking method is similar to "Mimi" in Yamanashi Prefecture, Mimi-udon is thought to have been inspired from the area.
In recent years, while handing down the tradition, its development has been continued for new uses such as pasta and Japanese sweets. The author concludes that this local area and wishes for this cuisine to be inherited in the next generations' community.departmental bulletin pape
Entrance strategy of SANO Ltd. in the Finaland's energy consumer market.
Theme of the thesis is SIA “SANO” strategy for entering in Finland energy resource meter market. The aim of the thesis is to determine the best possible market entering strategy of SIA “SANO”, based on Finland energy resource market, SIA “SANO” current experience, the experience of other companies and expert opinions. The aim also includes defining proposals for achieving the strategy. Research results show that SIA “SANO” has possibilities to enter Finland’s energy resource market because all the prerequisites for successful export have been fulfilled – The knowledge level of the current management is high, company can be competitive, Finish market shows demand for this type of product and there is empty production capacity, that can not be fulfilled in local market. The results of the research indicate that the company has the opportunity to enter the Finnish energy resource market, as the preconditions for successful export are met: there is sufficient level of management knowledge, the company is competitive, there is free production capacity that is not realizable in the domestic market and there is demand for the service On the market in Finland. At the international level, not all companies are developing, although any product can be found on an export market or establish a branch abroad. Kubisten Georg Pauli? : Mens sana in corpore sano – muralmålningarna på Per Brahegymnasiet
In 1912 Georg Pauli painted Mens sana in corpore sano, a mural painting in al secco technique at Per Brahegymnasiet in Jönköping. The outcome of the painting caused a lot of different reactions, many people found it strange and bad and criticized it harshly. As a student myself at the school many years later, I found the painting a bit weird, and later in life during my studies in art history I became interested in Mens sana in corpore sano and why it looks like it does. In this study, I have seeked to understand the painting and its context. I have analyzed the motive according to Erwin Panofskys iconological method, to see what the three levels means. For the context of the paining, I give a presentation of mural painting both in schools and society during 1910s, Pauli as a painter and author, and his relation to cubism. I will also present how others have been writing about and interpretating Mens sana in corpore sano over the years since the painting was created 1912 to 2024.
“sakekasu dish simotukare and kasuni”.Japanese home-made cuisine of the next generation in Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture
This paper is an investigation of the local cuisine "simotukare" and "Kasuni" in Sano City, Tochigi
Prefecture. Comparing the cooking methods of the early Showa era and the present day, there were no
changes in the ingredients, but there were differences in the cooking methods. In the early Showa era,
large pots were used to cook large quantities of food, but today, pressure cookers are used to shorten the
cooking time.
In a comparative survey with neighboring prefectures, it became clear that in Saitama Prefecture,
there is a widespread area along the Nikko Highway where "shimotsukare" is made. In Saitama
Prefecture, there are two types of shimotsukare: one is eaten raw and the other is boiled, and the use of
salmon heads and sake dregs is limited. In Gunma Prefecture, it was found that it was only made in the
area adjacent to Tochigi Prefecture.
Comparing "Shimotsukare" and "Kasuni," the author concluded that "Shimotsukare" is a "special"
dish made only during the "Hatsu-uma" season in February, while "Kasuni" is a dish made as an
everyday side dish
