The end of the “time of the streets”: temporality in the life course of a Russian ex-gangster
We present the analysis of two biographical narratives by Tzigan, an ex-gangster from the Russian city of Kazan. Using the methodological approaches developed in qualitative longitudinal research, we explore his journey in and out of the gang as a part of the collective biography of a generation that came of age at a time of catastrophic collapse of the Soviet social order and a difficult transition to market economy, and who elected to join the alternative social order of street gangs. His decision to leave the gang was also conditioned by the macro-changes in the post-Soviet society, which reverberated through the world of the streets. We address the different times in Tsigan’s life – his childhood, youth and adulthood, his time on the streets, his decision to leave the gang and his reflexions and memories of his past as reconstructed through the narratives presented at two different points of his biography. We show how his memory of the time in the gang has dramatically changed between the first and the second interviews, as he looked retrospectively on his former self from the vantage point of his current law-abiding life. In our analysis, we use the theoretical and conceptual framework of sociology of time and processual sociology and Bakhtin’s concept of chronotope
Identification of the Model of the Dynamic System of a Milling Machine Based on the Study of Vibroacoustic Characteristics
In this paper, the authors propose a method for ensuring the reliability of the computational model intended for the study of dynamic processes in technological cutting systems. The advantage of using 3D models in CAD/CAM/CAE systems for solving such problems is shown. The method of conducting an experimental study to identify the calculated model by natural frequencies is justified. The method is proposed for adjusting the 3D model in order to ensure that the dynamic pattern occurring during cutting corresponds to experimental processes. The authors give a concrete example of solving the problem of identifying the computational model of the dynamic system of a milling machine. An example of solving the applied problem of optimizing cutting modes in terms of vibration resistance parameters using the identified computational model is also given

High Temperature Treatment of Birch Plywood in the Sparse Environment for the Creation of a Waterproof Construction Veneer
AbstractOne of the most common wood-laminated materials widely used in the construction industry and in the houses is plywood. Having small thickness, plywood possesses a high strength and is easily installed. However, the exploitation of plywood in a wet environment leads to a loss of its strength and biological damage. The article presents the technology of vacuum-contact thermo modification of a birch veneer with the subsequent production of plywood with an increased water resistance. The laboratory equipment for contact thermo modification of wood that allows the even thermo modification of the material is presented. The research studying the physical characteristics of the laminated material on the basis of the heat-treated wood were conducted. It is established that the high-temperature processing of veneer in a rarefied environment causes a reduction of hygroscopicity, while the color, density, mass and cellular structure of the sample are changed. The increased water resistance of plywood on the basis of the heat-treated veneers was experimentally confirmed as a result of the studies; meanwhile, the rational processing temperature of the wood filler is in the range of 190-210°С. Thus, the developed plywood can be used in wet conditions inside, which, in contrast to the bakelized plywood, does not violate the sanitary regulations
