Student affairs programs at Rowan University and their impact on students\u27 sense of mattering
The purpose of this study was to determine the attitudes of student participants of the Rowan After Hours’ program on mattering. The subjects of this study were 400 Rowan University student participants of the Rowan After Hours program. Data were collected using a variation of the College Mattering Inventory (Tovar et al., 2009) which contains a 37 Likert scale statements consisting of seven subscales that sought to determine students’ attitudes toward mattering in seven subscales. Results indicated that students participating in the Rowan After Hours program had a positive attitude towards mattering overall, and the highest subscale was the subscale that dealt with mattering to the Rowan After Hours program. The lowest subscales were mattering versus marginality and mattering to instructors. The results of the current study were compared to the normative sample from the 2009 study by Tovar, Simon, and Lee as well as a previous study on mattering conducted at Rowan University (McGuire, 2012) with undergraduate students. Correlations were found between frequency of attending the RAH program and connection to campus
GRIEF AND BEREAVEMENT IN HIGHER EDUCATION: A ROWAN UNIVERSITY CASE STUDY ON THE STUDENT CONCEPTUALIZATION OF HIGHER EDUCATION AFTER LOSS
This case study explores grief and bereavement on the Rowan University Glassboro campus and how those impact the lives of students. Using a quantitative survey and semi structured interviews participants were able to evaluate their experiences at Rowan while processing life altering deeply emotional challenges. Special focus is paid to their relationship with professors and if their views on higher education have changed. Findings show that a student’s area of study and relationship to their professors impacts how satisfied students are with their accommodations at the university. Recommendations for institutional changes are discussed for Rowan specifically and higher education as a whole
The role and awareness of sexual violence initiatives at Rowan University through undergraduate students\u27 perceptions
The purpose of this mixed methods study was to determine the overall role and awareness of Rowan University\u27s sexual violence programs through the perceptions of undergraduate students. An online survey was distributed to all enrolled Rowan University undergraduate students to determine their perceptions of the sexual violence initiatives. After the survey was closed, semi-structured virtual interviews were conducted to further investigate those perceptions. Out of the 16,874 surveys distributed, 301 complete responses were recorded, which was about a 1.8% response rate. Out of the 43 participants who signed up after the survey to complete an interview, eight of them followed through, which was about an 18.6% response rate. The findings show that there is an overall lack of awareness for the sexual violence initiatives and for sexual violence itself on Rowan\u27s campus. Nevertheless, data shows that there are also many benefits that the programs carry to help students and sexual violence victims/survivors, as well as helpful suggestions provided by the participants to improve them. It is hopeful that this research study promotes the urge for sexual violence prevention at Rowan University through the sexual violence initiatives and the perceptions from undergraduate students, as well as speak volumes of encouragement for other college campuses to do the same
ROWAN UNIVERSITY UNDERGRADUATE RESIDENTIAL STUDENT PERCEPTIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY
This paper looks into the undergraduate residential student perceptions of the on-campus public safety department at Rowan University. The goal of this study is to analyze the following research questions: a) what the perceptions of the residential undergraduate students towards on-campus police departments at Rowan University are, b) how students\u27 perceptions at Rowan University affect their desire to file reports when necessary, and c) what the recommendations for the on-campus police department are to improve their relationship with the campus community. The study utilized a survey sent through Qualtrics to 5180 undergraduate residential students in February 2022. There was a total of 132 responses. Of this only 81 individuals completed the survey to completion. The conclusion of this was that students rated the services above average in most categories given, including overall perceptions in relation to efficiency, helpfulness, and level of care/support. Overall though it was indicated that students would like more opportunities to learn about the services provided and have more officers in visible locations
Student connection: how graduate assistants of Rowan University connect to the campus community
The purpose of this study was to investigate how graduate assistants at Rowan University, Glassboro campus connect to the campus community using socialization theory. Data collection consisted of interviews of 10 randomly selected first and second year graduate students during the 2006-07 academic school year. The interviews were conducted at Rowan University during the spring 2007 semester. On average the interviews took about 25 minutes to conduct. Participants were interviewed to see how the graduate assistants felt about graduate school and their programs of study. Interviews were transcribed into a word document and then analyzed for common themes.
The study provides insight into how graduate assistants connect to a campus community. Participants indicated positive relationships when it came towards peers in the classroom environment, but a definite lack of socialization outside of the classroom. Faculty were found to be a strong support system, but the availability outside of the classroom was lacking

The purpose of this research study was to determine the attitudes of low-income, first-generation White students\u27 as it relates to their sense of mattering at Rowan University. In addition to a demographic sheet, data were collected using Mattering Inventory (Tovar et al., 2009)
Attitudes toward women\u27s roles: a study of selected undergraduate students at Rowan University
The main purpose of this study was to look at students\u27 attitudes toward women\u27s roles of 381 selected undergraduate female and male students at Rowan University, Glassboro, NJ, in March, 2008. Also investigated was the impact of demographic factors such as age, class level, class status, major, gender and race. The data on the attitudes toward women\u27s roles was collected using a 25 item Likert-scale survey. The data analysis suggests that the selected students had a profeminist, egalitarian attitude rather than a traditional, conservative attitude. There was a moderate correlation between the gender of the students and their attitudes toward women\u27s roles and weak correlation between race and attitudes toward women\u27s roles. No significant correlation was found between the age, class level and class status of the students and their attitudes toward women\u27s roles
