    Fisher Information in Electromagnetism

    No full text
In my talk, I will discuss recent progress in applying the concept of classical and quantum Fisher informa;on to the problem of estimating system parameters in electromagnetic scattaering and nano-photonics. Specifically, I will demonstrate how Fisher Information can be maximised through wavefront shaping and quantum state engineering [1,2]. Quite interestingly, the density and flux of Fisher information satisfy a fundamental continuity equation – in analogy to the Poynting theorem for the density and flux of energy in a radiation field [3]. This viewpoint allows us to identify Fisher information a physical quantity that propagates through space and that can resonate, diffract, and interfere [4]. Finally, I will also say a few words about how such concepts can be generalised to the flow of Fisher Information through Artificial Neural Networks [5]. Factors of the Rotter Internal-External Scale

    No full text
Previous investigators have reported that the Rotter I-E scale (1966) may measure many dimensions rather than a unidimensional trait. Following Collins (1974), each of the 23 forced-choice internal and external alternatives of the I-E scale were separated and administered as 46 Likert-scale items. The Likert-format administration was equivalent to the original method. Principal factors analysis and varimax rotation yielded five factors: belief in a nonrational world, belief in a politically unresponsive world, belief in a predictable world, belief in a just world, and belief in the meaningfulness of personal effort. These factors are similar to those reported by Collins. </jats:p

Dimensions of the Rotter Trust Scale

    No full text
A cluster analysis of scores on the Rotter Trust Scale from 70 high school students produced 3 dimensions: (1) Belief in the integrity of social role agents, (2) Belief in the trustworthiness of human motives, and (3) Belief in the dependability of people to do what they say they will do. The internal reliability and the relative independence of the clusters led to treating each as a separate scale. Correlations of the cluster scores with a number of other variables resulted in descriptions of the high scorers for each dimension. Implications for the meaning of trust and directions for further research were discussed. </jats:p
