Profesionalno je radila kao gimnazijska profesorica. Objavila je dva rada: članak Nekoliko misli Henri Bergsona o estetici (1929.) i prijevod s engleskoga Peter Pan u perivoju Kensington (1922.). Ovdje donosim gotovo nepoznatu biografiju Ivane Rossi, sažetak njezine disertacije i pregled recepcije Bergsonove filozofije u nas.The Croatian woman philosopher Ivana Rossi (1892–1963) was the first Croatian woman to defend a doctorate in philosophy in 1916 at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb. The topic of her dissertation was „The Basic Thoughts of Henry Bergson’s Philosophy“ (Osnovne misli filozofije Henri Bergsona). This dissertation was written much before Henri Bergson’s death in 1941, while he was professionally still very active. Ivana Rossi’s dissertation is the first serious presentation of Henri Bergson’s philosophical thought among the South Slavs. For hitherto unknown reasons — mostly likely personal — Ivana Rossi did not even attempt to work as a professional philosopher in the Academia. (She spent her entire professional career as a high school teacher in Zagreb, working in three different gymnasia: the “Kraljevska ženska realna gimnazija”, the “Partizanska realna gimnazija”, and the “III. muška realna gimnazija”.) In 1929, she published the article, „Some of Henri Bergson’s Thoughts on Aesthetics“ in the journal Književnik. Her second published work is her translation of James Barrie’s „Peter Pan in Kensington Park“ published in 1922. This book is the first Croatian translation of a book on Peter Pan. In this article, in addition to the hitherto little–known biography of Ivana Rossi and the reception of Bergson’s philosophy in Croatia, the author also presents a summary of her dissertation

The aim of this thesis was to investigate whether the administration of the high-fat diet containing 42 % kcal of fat affects expression of selected markers of endothelial dysfunction, the key mechanism in development of cardiovascular complications. Methods: In this thesis were evaluated changes in the expression of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), endoglin (ENG), endothelin-1 (ET-1), intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1) and vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 (VCAM-1). An experimental group of male C57BL/6J mice aged 7 months was fed the high-fat diet containing 42% kcal of fat for 12 weeks. The control group was fed a standard laboratory diet. Cílem této diplomové práce bylo zjistit, zda podávání vysokotukové diety s obsahem 42 % kcal tuku má vliv na expresi vybraných markerů endotelové dysfunkce, která představuje klíčový mechanismus v rozvoji kardiovaskulárních komplikací. Metody: V práci byly sledovány změny v expresi endotelové syntázy oxidu dusnatého (eNOS), endoglinu (ENG), endotelinu-1 (ET-1), intercelulární adhezní molekuly 1 (ICAM- 1) a vaskulární adhezní molekuly 1 (VCAM-1). Experimentální skupině myších samců kmene C57BL/6J ve věku 7 měsíců byla po dobu 12 týdnů podávána vysokotuková dieta s obsahem 42 % kcal tuku. Kontrolní skupina byla krmena standardní laboratorní dietou. K hodnocení pozorovaných markerů endotelové dysfunkce byla použita Western blot analýza s následnou detekcí za využití chemiluminiscenčního činidla. Giants as Mythological Creatures in two Stories by Ivana Brlić - Mažuranić
No full textOvaj diplomski rad bazira se na dosadašnjim istraživanjima o divovima u kojima su opisane karakteristike divova kao mitoloških bića. Na temelju tih istraživanja su u ovom radu analizirani divovi u dvije bajke autorice Ivane Brlić – Mažuranić, a to su Regoč i Priča o Zorku Bistrozorkom i o Sreći. Većina autora koji su istraživali književni opus Ivane Brlić – Mažuranić uglavnom su pisali o utjecajima slavenske mitologije na njezinu inspiraciju, njezinim Pričama iz davnina i mitološkim bićima unutar njih, dok su divovi i ostala njezina djela u manjoj mjeri istražena. Svrha ovog rada je na temelju dosadašnje literature istražiti i opisati divove sa psihološkog aspekta te na taj način dati doprinos istraživanjima koja su vezana uz stvaralaštvo Ivane Brlić – Mažuranić. Divovi se kao bića pojavljuju u mnogim mitologijama diljem svijeta, ali su u svakoj od njih prikazani u različitim verzijama, a u ovom se preglednom radu opisuju karakteristike divova koje je autorica bajki prikazala na svoj jedinstven način. Bajke su analizirane sa psihološkog aspekta, a likovi su opisani na temelju Big Five teorije ličnosti.This master's thesis is based on previous research concerning giants in which the characteristics of giants as mythological creatures were described. Based on those studies, this work analyzes giants in two tales by Ivana Brlić – Mažuranić – Regoč and Priča o Zorku Bistrozorkom i o Sreći. Most authors who have written about the literary opus of Ivana Brlić – Mažuranić wrote mostly on the influences of Slavic mythology on her inspiration, her Tales of long ago and the mythological creatures within them, while giants and the rest of her literary works were somewhat less researched. This thesis focuses on researching and describing giants from a psychological aspect and, in that manner, contributes to previous research concerning Ivana Brlić – Mažuranić. Giants appear in numerous mythologies around the world, but each one of them presents a different version of the creature and this thesis describes the characteristic of giants as presented by author in her unique way. The tales have been analyzed from a psychological viewpoint and the characters have been described using the Big Five personality traits theory

Weight Polynomials of Linear Codes
No full textCilj rada je izložiti osnovne pojmove iz teorije linearnih kodova, s naglaskom na težinske polinome koda i njemu dualnog koda. Vezu među njima, eksplicitnom formulom, daje identitet Jessie MacWilliams koji se može dokazati na više načina. U radu su prikazane neke ekvivalentne forme tog identiteta, kao sustavi linearnih jednakosti za koeficijente te dokaz pomoću takvog oblika. Za samodualne kodove, s dodatnim posebnim svojstvima, identitet Jessie MacWilliams interpretira se kao invarijantnost težinskog polinoma pod djelovanjem odredene grupe linearnih transformacija. Tim pristupom dolazi se do dokaza nepostojanja projektivnih ravnina reda oblika 8m+6.Također, u dokazu nepostojanja projektivne ravnine reda 10, težinski je polinom od ključne važnosti kao baza za opsežno računalno pretraživanje kojim je ta tvrdnja napokon i dokazana. Na kraju je ukratko opisano kako je pristupom
pomoću teorije kodiranja dokazano nepostojanje nesimetričnog 2 − (22, 8, 4) dizajna, čije se istraživanje pokazalo još zahtjevnijim nego za projektivnu ravninu reda 10.The aim of this thesis is to describe basic concepts from the theory of linear codes, with an emphasis on the weight polynomials of the code and its dual code. The explicit formula between them is given by the identity of Jessie MacWilliams, which can be proven in several ways. The thesis presents some equivalent forms of this identity, as linear systems equalities for the coefficients, and the proof using those forms. For self-dual codes, with additional special properties, the MacWilliams identity is interpreted as the invariance of the weight polynomial under the action of a certain group of linear transformations. With this approach, proof of the non-existence of projective planes of order 8m + 6 is obtained. Furthermore, in the proof of the non-existence of a projective plane of order 10, the weight polynomial is of key importance as the basis for an extensive computer research that finally proved this claim. At the end of this thesis, it is briefly described how the non-existence of an 2–(22, 8, 4) block design was proven by an approach using coding theory, the research of which turned out to be even more demanding than for the projective plane of order 10

Seismic analysis and design of a masonry building
No full textOvim radom dan je proračun konstrukcije zidane zgrade čija je namjena poslovna. Zgrada se nalazi u Koprivnici, a sastoji se od prizemlja, dva kata te neprohodnog ravnog krova. Konstrukcija zgrade je jednostavnog tlocrtnog oblika i pravilna je po visini, a proračunava se za vertikalna i horizontalna djelovanja. Prvi dio rada odnosi se na proračun armiranobetonskih elemenata i zidanih zidova, na vertikalno opterećenje. Potresni proračun i provjera potresne otpornosti zidane zgrade provedeni su na temelju linearno elastičnog proračuna i nelinearnog proračuna po metodi postupnog guranja. Linearni proračun proveden je pomoću tabličnog kalkulatora Excel, a nelinearni uz pomoć programskog paketa AmQuake. Rezultat nelinearne analize su ciljani pomaci koji se uspoređuju s kapacitetom nosivosti, za granično stanje nosivosti i uporabljivosti.This paper provides a structural analysis of a masonry building with business occupancy. The building is located in Koprivnica and consists of a ground floor, two upper floors and an impassable flat roof. The structure of the building is a simple floor plan and regular in height, the vertical and horizontal actions are analysed. The first part of the paper deals with the analysis of reinforced concrete elements and masonry walls on vertical load. The seismic analysis and the verification of seismic resistance of the masonry building were conducted based on the linear elastic analysis and non-linear analysis according to pushover analysis. The linear analysis was conducted with the aid of the table calculator in Excel and the non-linear with the aid of the software package AmQuake. The results of the non-linear analysis are target displacements which are compared to structural capacity, for ultimate limit state and usability
Firm Growth in Advanced Stages of Economic Transition: Evidence from Slovak Industry
No full textThis article analyzes the reaction of firms to transition in adjusting firm size. The author offers an empirical analysis in the context of the firm-growth model with emphasis on the presence of ownership and corporate-structure effects.There is no evidence for a general firm-growth/firm-size relationship. On the other hand, the author finds evidence that firm growth is a function of size for firms of a particular type. Specifically, there is an inverse growth-size relationship for privately owned joint-stock companies. Examining the character of these effects, the author concludes that their character is transitory: It corresponds to events related to exogenous settings of economic privatization and the economic restructuring process rather than tangible ownership or corporate-governance effects.firm growth; firms; transition; ownership; industry; Slovak Republic
