Pseudolepraria, a new leprose genus revealed in Ramalinaceae (Ascomycota, Lecanoromycetes, Lecanorales) to accommodate Lepraria stephaniana
The new genus Pseudolepraria Kukwa, Jabłońska, Kosecka & Guzow-Krzemińska is introduced to accommodate Lepraria stephaniana Elix, Flakus & Kukwa. Phylogenetic analyses of nucITS, nucLSU, mtSSU and RPB2 markers recovered the new genus in the family Ramalinaceae with strong support. The genus is characterised by its thick, unstratified thallus composed entirely of soredia-like granules, the presence of 4-O-methylleprolomin, salazinic acid, zeorin and unknown terpenoid, and its phylogenetic position. The new combination, P. stephaniana (Elix, Flakus & Kukwa) Kukwa, Jabłońska, Kosecka & Guzow-Krzemińska, is proposed
Awareness of the risks of creatine monohydrate use among fitness centre users
Razprava in zaključek: Raziskava prispeva k razumevanju fiziologije in učinkov kreatin monohidrata. Introduction: Creatine monohydrate is one of the most researched dietary supplements for improving athletic performance. It is naturally produced by the body and is also found in meat and fish. Due to its safety and effectiveness, it is used by both recreational and elite athletes for better performance and faster recovery.
Methods: In the theoretical part, we used a descriptive method and in the empirical part we used an anonymous survey. Data was collected between the 15th of December 2024 and 15th of January 2025 from 194 people were analysed using IBM SPSS 29.0 and Microsoft Excel 2016.
Results: Statistical tests showed significant differences in the choice of information sources (p < 0.001) and the perception of dietary supplements (p < 0.001). Athletes are not aware of the risks of using creatine monohydrate (p < 0.050). Differences in awareness by age (p = 0.595) and education (p = 0.443) were not statistically significant, but were between sexes (p = 0.013) and physical activity (p = 0.023). Users are aware of use and dosage (p = 0.159), but there was no statistically significant association between duration of use and level of concern (p = 0.455).
Discussion and conclusion: The study contributes to the understanding of the physiology and effects of creatine monohydrate. Better information is needed on all food supplements, not just creatine monohydrate
