This second updating volume enriches the repertory with 1.192 entries on as many authors. Of these, 682 are new, while the remaining 510 have been updated on the basis of recent scholarship, which has brought important new evidence to their bio-bibliographic profiles. All in all, 1.082 among specialized studies and bio-bibliographic catalogues were consulted and examined either partially or in their entirety (see list in the volume). The main biographical data (date of birth, death or period of activity, chief positions and where those positions were held, membership in a religious or if any) have been entered. Literary genres practiced have been catalogued and all forms of the author’s name as found in editions, manuscript catalogues, and general and specialised bibliographies have been accounted for. However, most importantly, a critical examination of issues relating to author identification and attribution of works – an investigation that constitutes the nucleus, as well as the most important character, of the research – has been carried out. The project involves updating volumes including new acquisitions and updates on previous authors will be published

The paper sets forth the state of our knowledge about Sicco Polenton’s, his brother Francesco’s and his son Modesto’s funerary memories – which were once arranged in the Paduan churches of St. Leonard and St. John of Verdara but are now partly lost and partly conserved in contexts totally different from the original ones – and systematically compares them with their respective will dispositions and the subsequent actions of Eufrasia Novello and Alda Brazolo, widows and executrixes of Francesco and Modesto Polenton respectively. Furthermore, on the basis of an hitherto unpublished document we locate the position and the possible dedication of the Polenton chapel at Verdara

The essay discusses the genre classification of the 'fabua' Catinia as a 'humanist comedy'. The first part of this research focuses on the evolution of the 'modi dicendi' theory and the rhetoric of 'dramatic forms', between the late Gothic period and the early fifteenth century, taking into account the traits of the Mid-Latin and Neo-Latin 'theatricality' as well; according to such consideration, the study examines the typology of this play by Sicco Polenton. The second part of the essay pays attention to the eclectic contamination of this text, at the crossroads of 'comedy' and 'satirical dialogue', following the author's critical statements defining his own 'fabula' and the interpretation of the praefatio of the 'Catinia': from them, as well as from the comparison with the coeval comedies and with the models and archetypes offered by the tradition, we may understand Sicco's concept of 'fabula' and 'comicality'
