No full textThe article examines the historical use of the concept of celebration and commemoration for the study of the rituals of mmemory and of national identitiies. Through the contribution of social and political sciences, with a comparative approach to the countries of southern Europe (Italy, Spain, Portugal, France), on the nineteenth and twentieth century, it is a reflection of cultural history of politics, attentive to use of myths, symbols and rites. The construction of National States in the nineteenth century, the two wars and the post war in the twentieth century, the end of "Cold War" in the post 1989, comprising the steps of privileged historical cronologie. The comparison, based on research carried out previously by the author, propose a hypothesis about the processes of politicization and an original interpretation on the construction of civil religions in the contemporary age
