Chao Yuen Ren (1892–1982)
Y. R. Chao is easily the most famous linguist to have come out of China. Born before the end of the last dynasty in China, he received a traditional Confucian education, but was also one of the first Chinese people to be sent to the West for training in modern Western science (under the Boxer Indemnity Fund). The remarkable breadth and scope of his studies included physics, mathematics, linguistics, musical and literary composition, and translation, and he was a pioneer in many of these fields

Lauren Stogner, stage name Ren Rum, is interviewed by Sarah Steiner as a part of the Gender and Sexuality Oral History project. Stogner is a pansexual female who does horror and cosplay drag as a king and has been dressing up, wearing wigs and performing for her family since she was 3. She performs at Scandals, The Odditorium, Ole Shakey’s and the Kingdom show at Scandals Nightclub. Stogner talks about using the stage for political activism and about being the vice president of College Democrats on the campus of Western Carolina University. Stogner also talks about cosplay, drag in a rural community, preparing to perform, meeting her drag mom, and performing for the first time. This species was erected based on both complete forewings and hind wings (Wang & Ren, 2007 a). After re-examining part and counterpart of the holotype, we have reconstructed the hind wing of Q. fangi (Fig. 3). Genus Jurataenionema Liu and Ren, gen. nov. Type species. Jurataenionema inornatus Liu and Ren, sp. nov. Etymology. The generic name is taken from the combination of Jura and T aenionema (a genus of Taeniopterygidae) Species included. The type species J. inornatus Liu and Ren, sp. nov. and J. stigmaeus Liu and Ren, sp. nov. Diagnosis. Wings are macropterous, translucent. No additional veinlets on the costal area, c–r present or very faint, sometimes grey pterostigma presents in the terminal space of forewings; Rs with three branches, M and CuA with two long branches, and fork at level of midlength of Rs stem; 5–8 crossveins in the median and cubital areas. Ninth sternite produced, with a median tongue–like erect and then bent forward extension tapering to around or cuspidal tip, tenth tergite transversely wide, sclerotized. Cerci short, eight to ten segments. Remarks.
