Distribution Maps and Models for 13 Invasive Plants in Minnesota
No full textThis dataset consists of raster (.tif) and map (.png) files for 13 invasive plants in Minnesota. Species included consist of: common buckthorn, glossy buckthorn, multiflora rose, garlic mustard, Canada thistle, common tansy, leafy spurge, spotted knapweed, wild parsnip, purple loosestrife, Japanese knotweed, narrowleaf bittercress, and plumeless thistle. The rasters (.tif files) included here consist of the output of species distribution modeling (SDM) conducted for each species; these files depict the mean cross-model and cross-assumption distribution estimates for each species, on a scale of 0 to 1. Values near 0 indicate low likelihood of finding the species there, or low habitat suitability, and values near 1 represent a high likelihood of finding the species. Determining our peculiar velocity from the aberration in the cosmic microwave background
No full textABSTRACT The motion of our Solar system relative to the cosmic microwave background (CMB) rest frame leads to subtle distortions in the observed CMB sky map due to the aberration effect. Usually the corresponding peculiar velocity is determined from the CMB dipole but neglecting intrinsic dipole contributions. Here, it is investigated whether certain invariant scalar measures, which are derived from first and second order covariant derivatives on the sphere, can detect the distortions caused by the aberration effect at high multipoles. This would in principle allow to disentangle the Doppler from intrinsic dipole contributions providing an independent method for the determination of our peculiar velocity. It is found that the eigenvalues of the Hessian matrix of the temperature field are well suited for that task

No full textIl "Teatro Forum", creato negli anni '60 dal regista brasiliano Augusto Boal, originato dal "Teatro Spontaneo" di Levy Moreno (Vienna 1921), è un genere teatrale fondato sull'uso immediato dei più diversi spunti forniti dall'attualità, la cui notevole versatilità permette di sfruttare documenti di particolare varietà e ricchezza per l'insegnamento linguistico. Le autrice ne ricostruiscono alcuni momenti, dalle origini alla storia più recente, per poi sottolineare come il materiale grezzo lo si possa attingere dalle informazioni che appaiono sulla stampa - da qui la nozione tedesca "Zeitungstheater". Nella seconda parte del contributo viene illustrato un percorso didattico così come è stato presentato nell'ambito di un laboratorio svoltosi nella sezione teatrale del congresso internazionale degli insegnanti di tedesco L2 (IDT) a Graz nel 2005
