Bass Reeves sent this telegram requesting a writ of arrest. The suspects were One Polk and One Tom, and they were allegedly selling whiskey without a license in Crawford County. The next pages document the fulfillment of this request. The second page of the writ shows edits made on the form text by Reeves reflecting the unique situation of the allegations.Bass Reeves is perhaps the most famous deputy marshal who worked for the Western District of Arkansas.
