Semeiotica e clinica del distretto cervico-facciale

    No full text
The head and neck are characterized by the presence of bones and muscles that make up the support structure of the upper airways and digestive. Then there are many bands that separate compartments inside which shall run a complexity of vascular structures, nerve and lymph. The anatomical knowledge of this district is of fundamental importance for the study of semiotics and understanding of the natural history of the disease

The Segond’s fracture and the anterolateral ligament

The study of Mullins et al. reasonably explains how the Segond's fracture is probably the most frequent avulsion fracture of the tibia plateau, but it does not challenge the hypothesis of the existence of a discrete ligament (the ALL) strong enough to sometimes pull out its bony insertion as a result of a forced internal rotation and of an ACL failure

Desing and Numerical Analysis of Redler Conveyor Using Discrete Element Method (DEM)

    No full text
Analizirali smo masne pretoke v treh regijah Redlerjevega transporterja in rezultate primerjali z analitičnim preračunom. This thesis examines the transport of wheat in vertikal and inclined orientations using a Redler conveyor system. The teoretical background of Redler conveyor operation is outlined, together whit the Discrete Element Method (DEM), which was employed to perform numerical simulations. Both analytical calculations and numerical simulation were conducted in Ansys Rocky, accompaied by a comprehensive calibration of the material model for wheat. Mass flows were analyzed in three regions of the Redler conveyor and compered with analytical predictions, the results of the simulations show good agreement with analytical calculations with minor deviations. We analyzed wheather the material moves at a uniform velocity across the intire cross-section of the Redler conveyor, which was confirmed by data analysis. We examined In addition the degree of trough filling, location of maximum wear of Redler conveyor and forces acting on the scrapers . The study concludes that the final Redler conveyor desing should incorpurate modified scrapers in order to enhance material discharge at the end of the transport path

    Analysis of Failed Redler Link

    No full text
The redler link in question has failed during bend test due to presence of a surface defect. Investigation showed that the defect was a lap or fold that got created during forging. This had resulted in a discontinuity in the material with a sharp root. Subsequent carburising treatment had worsened the situation resulting in a highly sensitive notch in the component surrounded by a brittle material like carburising layer. Subsequent examination confirmed that the forging defects were present in the raw material (billet) itself and got translated into the defects seen in the final products. A detailed analysis of the problem is presented in this report and the recommendations are made to prevent recurrence of similar failures

Utilization of Pharmacogenomic Testing for Medication Optimization in the Primary Care Setting

    No full text
Background and Purpose: The use of pharmacogenomic testing (PGT) can optimize medication therapy to each patient resulting in fewer adverse side effects and increased adherence. The purpose of this project was to evaluate the current use, attitudes, and practices of cytochrome p450 genetic testing followed by distribution of reference guide to assist with integration into practice. Methods: Assessment of current provider knowledge, attitudes, and use of PGT was evaluated via a pre-intervention survey followed by an educational in-service. A post-intervention survey evaluated any change in knowledge or confidence from the pre-survey. The convenience sample for this project included two groups. The first group consisted of 19 adult patients who underwent PGT. The second group consisted of ten providers who work at the four clinics. Conclusion: Majority of providers lacked the confidence and knowledge about PGT to fully utilize. The provider in-service brought forth an increase in the likelihood of ordering PGT, confidence in counseling patients and adjusting current medication regimens, and test awareness. Implications for Practice: Current use of PGT is low due to lack of knowledge and confidence. Formal education about PGT is recommended to sustain PGT. Patient outcomes will directly benefit from the use of PGT.Manuscrip

Rupture of the patellar tendon after platelet-rich plasma treatment. A case report

    No full text
Introduction: Rupture of the patellar tendon is becoming more and more frequent, even in sports activities overloading the extensor mechanism of the knee. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment has been recently introduced in treatment for several knee- and sport-related injuries including muscle strain cartilage defect and tendinopathies. The aim of this case report is to present a case of rupture of the patellar tendon occurred after injections of PRP. CASE REPORT: A case of a 40-year-old male soccer player sustaining a patellar tendon rupture after a series of 4 PRP injections. At surgery, a complete rupture in the middle of the patellar tendon was found, with severe degenerative changes of the tendon tissue. This case questions the actual efficacy and safety of PRP in severe degenerative tendinopathies
