Ankyloglossia, rare anomaly of tongue in adults: A case study
Tongue-tie, or ankyloglossia, is poorly defined and involves a short, thick, fibrosed, or fixed lingual frenulum. Ankyloglossia has been reported to cause feeding difficulties, dysarthria, dyspnea, and social or mechanical problems. Ankyloglossia occurs in 1.7% of all neonates. As age advances, frenulum grows in length and normal function is established. Frenulectomy is recommended if it persists. We have also come across with the case of Tongue Tie in one of our patient. Lyme disease in an experimental mouse model

This study sought to define the route of inoculation necessary to establish infection or disease in susceptible C3H/HeJ mice and also, to determine the virulence of four Borrelia burgdorferi isolates. Further, the influence of MHC Class I and Class 11 genes of the mouse H-2 complex on the susceptibility and/or resistance to Lyme disease was studied. This thesis demonstrates the development of multisysternic infection in the mouse model, namely, dermatological, cardiac, and arthritic lesions in C3HJHeJ mouse. It also demonstrates the involvement of Class I genes (K and D regions) and Class 11 genes (I-A and I-E regions) of the mouse H-2 complex on the quantitative antibody titers. This was achieved by using genetically stable B IO congenic and recombinant strains. The data presented in this thesis strongly supports use of C3HJHeJ and BIO congenic and recombinant strains as potential laboratory animal models for Lyme disease research
Synthesis and antibacterial activity of <i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">N</i>-substituted-[1,2,4]triazoles and 1,2,4-triazole[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazines

3-(5-methyl-1-phenyl-1H-4-pyrazolyl)-6-aryl-7H-[1,2,4]
triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazines 9a-e
have been prepared and screened for their antibacterial activity against
four human pathogenic bacteria, Escherichia
coli, Klebseilla pneumoniae, Shigella dysentriae and Shigella flexnei. Among the screened,
compounds 8b, <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:
normal">8c and 8e, in which
phenyl ring of isothiocyanate moiety bear 3-fluoro,
4-fluoro and 4-bromo substituents respectively, show high activity against all
the micro-organisms employed. The compound 9c
is highly active against all the test organisms employed. The zone of
inhibition is more than what is found for the standard drug neomycin, and
almost equal to the standard drug streptomycin
Formulation development and evaluation of medroxyprogesterone acetate injectable suspension
The aim of the present work is to develop sustained release parenteral drug delivery system of contraceptive drug i., e medroxyprogesterone acetate. The formulation was prepared by sterile combining of API and excipient powders by rapid stirring method. Different excipients used in the formulation are PEG 3350, Poloxamer -188, Polysorbate-80, Benzyl alcohol and Sodium chloride. The prepared parenteral suspension was evaluated for all official parameters like sedimentation volume, measurement of zeta potential, pH, viscosity, osmolality, dissolution, assay, particle size determination, and stability studies. The dissolution profile was found to be more when compared with the innovator formulation. Stability studies were also conducted at 25ºC / 60% RH and 40ºC / 75% RH conditions up to 3M.All the parameters evaluated are within the specified limits.

[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazoles 12a-j have been prepared and assayed for
their antibacterial activity against human pathogenic Gram-positive bacteria viz.,
Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and Gram-negative Escherichia
coli. Among the screened compounds 12b, 12c and 12f, in
which phenyl ring of triazole moiety bear 4-chloro, 4-nitro and 4-fluoro substituents
respectively, showed high activity against all the micro-organisms employed. The
activities of these compounds are almost equal to the standards.</span
Entomogenous fungi against brown plant hopper JBiopest 5(1): 1-6 © 386 JBiopest 6(2):139-143 Study on the efficacy of some entomogenous fungi against brown plant hopper, Nilaparvata lugens Stal in irrigated rice
ABSTRACT A field trial was conducted for three consecutive kharif seasons of 2010, 2011 and 2012 to study the efficacy of certain entomopathogenic fungi viz., Beauveria bassiana, Metarhizium anisopliae , Verticilium lecani @ 5 g/l having 1x10 8 CFU along with standard check -Acephate 75% SP @ 1.5 g/l against brown plant hopper, Nilaparvata lugen Stal and predators (mirid bugs and spiders). The results clearly indicated that Acephate 75 SP @ 1.5g/l was highly effective against BPH, but highly toxic to predators with higher grain yield and higher benefit cost ratio. However, B. bassiana, and M. anisopliae @ 5 g/l though found to be ineffective at 5 days after first spray, their efficacy against BPH increased with increase in days after spray and found to be at par with Acephate at 10 days after second spray. Among the entomopathogens, B. bassiana, and M. anisopliae were found to be relatively more effective against BPH and relatively less toxic to predators, followed by V. lecani.
