Full text linkThe Bachelor's thesis is dedicated to the last three years of Hubert Ripka's life. The final period can be hardly taken out of the context of his previous political involvement. Thus, the author has decided to review Ripka's life in the first half of the 20th century. His activities, notably at the time of the third Czechoslovak republic, are presented here. The core part of the thesis is focused on political and diplomatic work of Huber Ripka in the period from 1955 to 1957. On the basis of the archive documents, the author presents the purpose and the content of Ripka's travels from London to Europe and the USA. The biographical section of the thesis is followed be an introduction to his political thoughts and concepts

No full textThe notion of a homotopy flow on a directed space was introduced in [19] as a coherent tool for comparing spaces of directed paths between pairs of points in that space with each other. If all parameter directed maps preserve the homotopy type of path spaces, such a flow (and these parameter maps) are called inessential.For a directed space, one may consider various categories whose objects are pairs of reachable points and whose morphisms may be induced by these inessential d-maps. Localization with respect to subcategories with these inessential d-maps as morphisms can be combined with a path space functor into the homotopy category; the quotient pair component category has as objects pair components along which the homotopy typeis invariant – for a coherent and transparent reason.This paper follows up [7, 14, 19] and removes some of the restrictions for their applicability. If one uses homology equivalence instead of homotopy equivalence as the basic relation, it yields an alternative to computable versions of “natural homology” introduced in [4] and elaborated in [3]. Performing piety: preachers and players in East Anglia, 1400-1520
Full text link“Performing Piety” examines the interdependent relationship between medieval sermons and plays in late-medieval East Anglia, arguing that the mutual use of thematic divisions and exempla (moral tales) evinces the reciprocal interaction of preacher and playwright. By focusing on these common rhetorical strategies, I stress the medieval play’s confluence with preaching’s form, rejecting the critical assumption that drama depends on the sermon to instead demonstrate the two genres’ interactive creation of a regionally-inflected performance continuum. In East Anglia, preachers and players used the same spaces in the area’s numerous churches and churchyards, a circumstance that reinforced these rhetorical and generic continuities. My dissertation therefore reevaluates the regional specificity of East Anglian preaching and drama and, by emphasizing the mutual employment of exempla, reconfigures East Anglian devotional culture.
