Before and After the Commentators: An Essay in Periodization.
This article considers the historical and philosophical significance of the Neoplatonic commentators on Aristotle. The authors set Richard Sorabji's recent Sourcebook on the commentators within a wider backgroung, which covers the commentators' contribution in the shaping of late antique philosophy and their posterity in the Islamic philosophical tradition. After an introductory section (1) regarding the current status of research in this area, the authors tackle the following issues: (2) Plotinus, the commentators and the development of late antique thought; (3) the Sourcebook and Islamic Philosophy. Riccardo Chiaradonna is co-author of section (1) and author of section (2), where the reception of Aristotle's school treatises is set out as a key feature in the transition from Post Hellenistic to Late Antique philosophy. Plotinus has a pivotal position in this process and the Neoplatonic incorporation of Aristotle's treatises would have not taken place without Plotinus' contribution
The volume provides the first collection of (Greek and Arabic) fragments of the Peripatetic philosopher Boethos of Sidon (1st century BC), with French translation and an extensive commentary essays

Place in Rashed Hussein's Poetry
Arabic poetry is spatial poetry in its connection to the environment that produced it and the human being that created it. Thus, the literary researcher has to look at the 'place' in poetry in detachment of nationality, which may limit the place to some external features, or may be best lost to overused expressions. The literary critic should therefore dig deep into the depth of the relationships that the place has with different meanings, verbal and practical traditions, morals, and behavior.
This study aims to reveal Rashed Hussein's relationship with the 'place'. It focuses on introducing an approximate quantitative census of places and their different spaces. In addition, the research examines the positive and negative references to the place in an attempt to explore the poet's motives to refer to these types of places.
The study also examines and analyzes the data according to the dialectic theory and the phenomenon of contradictory dualities in order to understand how to deal with the conflicts that result from historical circumstances.
The study concludes that the 'place' constitutes a fundamental component in Rashed Hussein's poetry, which reflects his personal circumstances, patriotic Palestinian circumstances, and Arab national circumstances. It also argues that the poet carries the place in his thoughts and feelings, which implies that there is a blending of the poet and the place, and therefore, the elements of nature, earth and the human beings combine within him. Rashed Hussein describes trees, stones, plains, mountains, rivers and the sea, the village and the city that live in his memory. This combination of various places creates the internal world of the committed poet, Rashed Hussein
An industrial study of effort estimation in mobile app development using agile processes
Estimates of software effort, size and cost are essential to a project manager, in order to plan and manage a project to prevent it from failing. The planning and development of mobile apps are unlike traditional software applications due to the characteristics of the mobile environment, including high autonomy requirements, market competition and many other constraints. The aim of this study is to investigate the current state of practice relating to the essential factors and optimal techniques for effort estimation that help and support an Agile team to give reliable estimates for developing a mobile app task. The results of a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of effort estimation models in mobile app development are presented; this is followed by a summary of estimation techniques used across mobile apps. In particular, the focus in the SLR is on the software estimation models applicable to the Agile Software Development (ASD) process. From the SLR, some research gaps are suggested, along with possible future work on mobile effort estimation techniques in ASD. Following this, the research aim and objectives are provided for this study, as well as appropriate research methods, strategies, plans and designs. In this study 20 interviews were conducted in 18 different organisations, consisting of both structured and non-structured questions. The result revealed that Expert Judgment and Planning Poker were the most used estimation techniques in the organisations. Some challenges and issues were raised and discussed around these techniques. The results, in addition, revealed 68 comprehensive factors and appropriate techniques that could be used in effort estimation for development of a mobile app. A proposed effort estimation technique has been constructed from the interviews. Moreover, the study presents case studies in three companies that examined and evaluated their current estimation techniques. It proposes and has validated an estimation technique to enhance the accuracy of existing techniques. The study presents the effectiveness of the estimation factors/predictors in supporting a development team to manage, estimate and create subtasks for their user storie
Mapping the Discipline of the Olympic Games An Author-Cocitation Analysis
The authors conducted an author cocitation analysis on prominent authors writing about the Olympics during the 1990s. Author cocitation is an established bibliometric technique that can be used to measure the relative similarities of topics written about by the cited authors. This enables a visual representation of the “intellectual space” of the discipline, in this case the Olympics, to be created for the period under review. So core and peripheral research areas are identified, along with their major contributors. The representation appears as a two-dimensional cluster-enhanced map. Subject expertise was then applied to the results to place labels on the generated clusters of authors and their topics
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
A framework for experimenting content caching and distribution in ICN over SDN
Information (or Content) Centric Networking (ICN or CCN) is a new logical and an architectural solution for networking. It originates from the consideration that people value the Internet for thecontent it contains and not for where this content comes from. In this work, we are referring to our ICN based architecture which is called CONET (COntent NETwork). The thesis work covers several aspects on expanding the proposed architecture and addressing the issue of its deployment starting from the current IP networks. Thie is still an open issue, and different approaches have been proposedin the past. The contributions of this work have been classified in the upcoming few major points. The first is the proposal of a solution to support ICN paradigm leveraging the SDN concepts. Our approach is specifically designed to support the ICN framework called CONET, however the underlying ideas and concepts are general and applicable to the ICN proposals which follow the basic mode of operation of CCN/NDN approach. We have implemented our solution combining and extending Open Source tools. In the time frame in which this work has been conceived and developed, the available OpenFlow testbeds and the Open Source tools werebased on OpenFlow 1.0 specification, therefore we had to design the solution and the experiment taking into account the features that were available on off-the-shelf OpenFlow equipment. We discuss also the realization of advanced caching policies like Tag Based Forwarding Filter (TBFF), Dynamic Tag Based Forwarding (DTBF) and FIX (P) over the designed architecture. Caching policies are needed to optimize the use of the resource, because it is not possible in general to cache of all the items. The second contribution of this work concerns the design and implementation of an open source environment for the emulation of the proposed solutions over OpenFlow distributed testbeds (OFELIA – like) and its adaptation for the single host emulation over Mininet. The emulation environment includes also a web GUI framework for the monitoring of the experiments, which is capable to monitor at run time the traffic and the cached items in the network, and to provide tools for evaluating the performance of the proposed solutions
