A note on inner-outer factorization of wide matrix-valued functions
In this paper we expand some of the results of [8, 9, 10]. In fact, using the techniques of [8, 9, 10], we provide formulas for the full rank inner-outer factorization of a wide matrix-valued rational function G with H∞ entries, that is, functions G with more columns than rows. State space formulas are derived for the inner and outer factor of G.</p

In this paper a definition is given for an unbounded Toeplitzlike operator with rational symbol which has poles on the unit circle. It is shown that the operator is Fredholm if and only if the symbol has no zeroes on the unit circle, and a formula for the index is given as well. Finally, a matrix representation of the operator is discussed

Three-component velocity measurements in a momentum-conserving, axisymmetric, turbulent jet
Experiments have been performed on a momentum conserving axisymmetric turbulent jet, the turbulence characteristics of which are well known [1]. Simultaneous three-component velocity measurements are acquired with high spatial and temporal resolution, using a new triple-sensor hotwire probe. Velocity and directional calibrations are performed using a dedicated automatic calibration system. Two experiments are performed; one for capturing the average velocity field in a 3D volume, and one for investigating the turbulence spectra in specific points in space. In the first experiment, measurements are performed in 9 equidistant cross-planes, from 10- to 50-diameters downstream of the nozzle using a computer-controlled traversing system. The spatial resolution is as low as 1 mm and the sampling rate was 10 kHz. In the second experiment, long velocity time histories are acquired with 50 kHz sampling rate to perform power spectral density computations for each velocity component. Preliminary results of velocity capture confirm the general characteristics of the turbulent jet. The power spectra at different positions indicate that the turbulent fluctuations are not isotropic at lower frequencies
Canonical form for H-symplectic matrices
In this paper we consider pairs of matrices (A,H), with A and H either both real or both complex, H is invertible and skew-symmetric and A is H -symplectic, that is, ATH A = H. A canonical form for such pairs is derived under the transformations (A,H) → (S −1AS, STH S) for invertible matrices S. In the canonical form for the pair, the matrix A is brought in standard (real or complex) Jordan normal form, in contrast to existing canonical forms.</p

A General History of the Congregation of the Mission Beginning after the Death of Blessed Vincent de Paul
This work is the earliest known history of the Congregation of the Mission and dates from about 1730. Vincentian historian John E. Rybolt, C.M., building on the initiative of Stafford Poole, C.M., completed this English translation from the original French. The author, Claude-Joseph Lacour, C.M. (1672-1731), drew from already published materials and his own recollections. While the story he tells may seem familiar, Lacour included materials that are unknown anywhere else and delivers a first-hand account of the Congregation’s rapid growth in those early days. Low Rank Perturbations of Quaternion Matrices
Low rank perturbations of right eigenvalues of quaternion matrices are considered. For real and complex matrices it is well known that under a generic rank- perturbation the largest Jordan blocks of a given eigenvalue will disappear while additional smaller Jordan blocks will remain. In this paper, it is shown that the same is true for real eigenvalues of quaternion matrices, but for complex nonreal eigenvalues the situation is different: not only the largest , but the largest Jordan blocks of a given eigenvalue will disappear under generic quaternion perturbations of rank . Special emphasis is also given to Hermitian and skew-Hermitian quaternion matrices and generic low rank perturbations that are structure-preserving
