Access services’ shifts in Azerbaijani academic libraries during COVID-19: the case of ADA University Library

    No full text
This paper was given by Elchin Chingizoglu Mammadov, Library and Information Services, ADA University, Baku, Azerbaijan The COVID-19 pandemic made a unsuspected long-term strike to the academic library environment in Azerbaijan as well as elsewhere in the early spring of 2020. In particular, the consumption of physical resources (collections, facilities, etc.) was experienced via campus closures, budget cuts, strict quarantine requirements, enforced social distancing, etc. This article examines the respond of Azerbaijani academic libraries to the COVID-19 pandemic in the case of ADA University Library. The similarities and contrast of actions brought to the fore in against to global experience. The role of online information resources access, exchange, ILL and Electronic Document Delivery during pandemic is specifically investigated. The author describes the prompt transitions of ADA University Library in early spring 2020 due to the shutdown of university campus. Multititle solutions were implemented including online circulation and reference services, preparation of online tutorials, strengthening institutional repository with open access resources and organization of usage, full utilization of electronic ILL and Document Delivery services. Moreover, services like consultation, technical, experience sharing support to partner universities and institutions were organized. The author also outlines the role of long-term strategic view of ADA university leadership, that before Pandemic the library passed through successful digital transformations being ready for uncertainties.</p

DergiPark: 612489konjesThemain aim of the present research was to reveal changes on Land-Cover/Land-UseChanges (LC/LUC) patterns in the in the northern coast of the Urmia Lake byapplying an object-based image analysis (OBIA) process. Accordingly, in theimage process procedures stage, spatial changes on the Urmia Lake surfaces werecarefully acquired from the Landsat imageries, since 1987 to 2016. Then, in thesecond stage, LC/LU change patterns have been precisely delineated, for thesouthern hillsides of the Misho Mountain. The resulting models showed anoverall accuracy of nearly about 92.54% and a Kappa coefficient of 91% in theimage classification procedures. In the final stage, by introducing a CellularAutomata-Markov (CA-Markov) method and setting a transition matrix, the spatialchanges on the LC/LU patterns have been progressively simulated for theapproaching years till year 2020 inside the study area. The final models illustrate a meaningful significantdecrease in the Urmia Lake surface, accompanying by certain water volumesdiminishing tendency, highlighting the fact that the amount of salty lands aremeaningfully increasing. This harmful inclination has successively causes acritical diminishing on the vegetation’s types by emerging the most recentchanges on LC/LU  types  accompanying by  a  critical hyper-saline  condition  mainly around the  coastal  parts of the  Urmia  Lake.Implementations of the current significant changesstrongly pointing up that the majority of local biotic and abiotic componentsare in imitate dangers with serious environmental negative observations. Suchrapidly occurring revolutionized changes on LC/LU will impose various criticaleffects on the existing in danger ecosystems and vulnerable climaticsub-systems in immediate prospect.

In this research, the author proposes to study the feasibility of applying ISO shipping containers as alternative construction materials. Using retired shipping containers for dwellings, offices or other construction purposes is an environmentally friendly idea. The green generation constitutes a battle against harmful effects of industrial developments. Motivated by the green movement, this research addressed the recycling of shipping containers in the construction market. Particularly, this research studied the recycling of shipping containers for the purpose of student housing construction. The design and justification of the implementation of the innovative construction materials was achieved through the application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems. The research contribution includes the analysis of the feasibility of the application of the alternative structural components. This research discussed the development of an alternative sustainable method of construction. The author studied if the application of shipping containers as a structural component of a building can significantly reduce construction cost in addition to the decrease of energy consumption. The author found that it is feasible to use shipping containers to develop midrise student residences with 4-7 stories living quarters

AbstractOne of the undiscovered basic phenomena of the universe remains to be the nature of gravitation. We will attempt to explain the essence of gravitation by relying on the following:1)The extra-ordinary results of the experiment we conducted. According to our results, for a given fixed light source, the travel direction of the photons will alter at different hours of the day. The experiment will be explained in details in the next section.2)Search for an answer to the question: why do the following particles and waves travel at the same speeda)different kinds of electromagnetic waves,b)neutrinos, neutrinos have nonzero masses1.c)electric currents,d)gravity.Travelling at the precisely same speed shows a direct correlation

Some properties of the weak subdifferential are considered in this paper. By using the definition and properties of the weak subdifferential which are described in the papers (Azimov and Gasimov, 1999; Kasimbeyli and Mammadov, 2009; Kasimbeyli and Inceoglu, 2010), the author proves some theorems connecting weak subdifferential in nonsmooth and nonconvex analysis. It is also obtained necessary optimality condition by using the weak subdifferential in this paper
