Ibadism in Oman and developments in the field of Christian – Muslim relationships

    No full text
The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between Christians and the IbadT of Oman, as a contribution to Christian-Muslim dialogue. The main focus is an assessment of the contribution offered in the past by the small missionary presence, and of the potential scope and areas of dialogue between the recent guest-worker Christian community, and their hosts - a Muslim country growing in international status. The thesis tells the story of a dynamic engagement in dialogue. The history, customs and beliefs of the country will be outlined, with particular emphasis on meeting points with Christian missionaries. The History of the Imams and Seyyids of Oman by SalTl bin Razlk, translated by CP. Badger and published in 1871, is the source of several more recent works consulted. The Journal of the Arabian Mission of the Reformed Church of America, Neglected Arabia/ Arabia Calling: 1892-1962 and the quarterly The Muslim World (from 1911) have been among other main sources. Some of the many books and articles by Samuel Zwemer have been read; he visited Muscat in Oman on several occasions - his brother Peter contracting a fatal illness while serving there. The IbadT believe their understanding of Islam to be close to that of the Prophet Muhammad; individual in faith, they fiercely claim to be orthodox in their interpretation of the Our'an and they are quick to speak out when they think Its essential tenets are being compromised. They can therefore perhaps afford to be relaxed when it comes to living alongside those who are not themselves IbadT and are willing to listen to them with an open mind. Their courteous meeting with the Christians they welcome to their country offers clues in the wider field of Christian-Muslim relations

Social media has emerged as an accessible communication tool for mass audiences worldwide. These new platforms are widely used in Afghanistan for various purposes. Given Afghanistan's high vulnerability to climate change impacts, the country requires effective public awareness and communication strategies across both traditional and new media. To inform policymaking for collective climate action, there is a need to analyze the content of social media discourse on climate change. The primary aim of this study is to explore climate change communication on the X platform to develop effective policies and strategies for leveraging social media, particularly the X platform, to communicate about climate change impacts in Afghanistan. The study employed a descriptive research design combined with a content analysis approach. The results indicate that the social media discourse revolved around key themes, including climate change impacts, Afghanistan's vulnerability to droughts, flash floods, monsoon rains, and unexpected snowfall, the lack of funding for climate change communication and mitigation efforts, and the disproportionate impact on women. The analysis also found that the total user engagement during the five-month study period reached 424,522 interactions, including reposts, replies, likes, and views. The findings of this study can inform the development of targeted, evidence-based communication strategies and policies to raise public awareness and catalyze collective action on climate change in Afghanistan, leveraging the reach and engagement potential of social media platforms

The secondary sources are books related to the world of Islamic education and the hadith of al-Arba`in al-Nawawiyah, especially the syarahs on the book. The author tries to analyze the contents (content analysis) of the hadiths in the book al-Arba`in al-Nawawiyah to find the values of Islamic education that can be drawn from them. After that, the author tries to use these values in the world of education in Indonesia.

The Correction of Some Verses of âOnsori Divan

The necessity of recorrecting some Persian prose and poetic texts is an undeniable fact, especially the texts before the raid of Mughals. Unfortunately, the main problem of corrected texts is not just the lack or not using of authentic manuscripts but the reason should be sought in the method used by correctors and their lack of attention to several literary and linguistic principles. The negligence of such principles has occurred in the correction of âOnsoriâs divan and caused his verses to be far from authenticity yet. This article aims to study and correct some verses of his divan which have been recorded incorrectly in Yahya Gharib (second impression, Tehran, 1344) and Mohammad Dabir Siaghi (second impression, Tehran, 1363) publications. Most corrections have been done on the basis of grammatical and semantic criteria and with regard to the conventions of old Persian poetry, especially methods of rhyming and imagery. Doing so, in addition to manuscripts used by the mentioned correctors in their correction, another manuscript which is older than those ones is also used in this study. Undoubtedly, in selecting the correct record, the author has not judged on the basis of subjective criteria and has not considered the stylistic characteristics of the poet as proven and absolute data. The author has always been loyal to the principle that any guess and hypothesis should have a background of textual criticism otherwise analogical and subjective corrections are created to which most of the prose and poetic texts have been subjected until now and various kinds of distortion are found in them

AbstractThree tetra-ferrocenylethynylpyridinyl copper complexes, L4(CuI)4 (1), L4(CuBr)2 (2), L4(CuCl)2 (3) and one ferrocenylethynylpyridinyl Ligand (L) have been investigated for their HOMO and LUMO energy levels. The band gap energy for each material has been calculated using optical absorption spectrum. Cyclic Voltammetry was used to estimate the oxidation potential and energy band diagram consequently. Cyclic voltammetry in dichloroethane showed chemically reversible multiferrocenyl oxidation signals with evidence for product electro-crystallization. We isolated the semi-oxidized products by electrodeposition onto a Pt disc electrode and investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). SEM confirmed the spontaneous formation of crystalline oxidation products with distinctive morphologies for complex 1 & 3. Energy dispersive X-ray elemental analysis shows presence of hexaflurophosphate (counter-ion) with the Fe:P ratio of 2:1, and 2:1 for the electrocrystallized products of 1 and 3, respectively proposing the formulae [1]2+(PF6−)4 and [3]2+(PF6−)2 for the electro-crystallized products

PhDThis study is undertaken on the premise that Islam and Islamic law is to be taken into serious consideration in any future legislative reform of laws in Malaysia. Islam being the religion of the country and the strong religious sentiment of the Muslims (who form the majority in Malaysia) cannot be overlooked or dismissed lightly by the legislators in Malaysia. Reformation of intellectual property laws is timely, as we are now approaching to the dateline set by GATF-Trips agreement which aim is to improve our standard of intellectual property protection. This study seeks to analyze and evaluate the current legislation pertaining to intellectual property in Malaysia in terms of the philosophy and rules governing the existence, ownership and exercise of these rights and their consistency and inconsistency with Islam and Islamic law. The main objective of this study is to prove that a coherent and logical conceptual framework of ownership of intellectual property can be derived from an Islamic perspective which not only offers the basis of rights but also defines the scope of these rights. From the point of ownership of rights, support can be obtained from the normative framework of property rights within the traditional classification of 'mal' (property) and 'haqq al-milkiyyah' (ownership rights) under Islamic law. From the point of exercise of rights, the exact scope can be defined from the analysis of fundamental concepts which have been developed by Muslim jurists. It has been established that Islam and Islamic law offers a sound and systematic paradigm, which in deeper analysis, can satisfy both our current obligations under international treatises, as well as our responsibility to practise our religion to the fullest
