A method constructing density functions: the case of a generalized Rayleigh variable
summary:In this paper we propose a new generalized Rayleigh distribution different from that introduced in Apl. Mat. {\it 47} (1976), pp.\,395--412. The construction makes use of the so-called ``conservability approach'' (see Kybernetika {\it 25} (1989), pp.\,209--215) namely, if is a positive continuous random variable with a finite mean-value , then a new density is set to be , where is the probability density function of . The new generalized Rayleigh variable is obtained using a generalized form of the exponential distribution introduced by Isaic-Maniu and the present author as
Courage in Nicolae Steinhardt's life and theology
This dissertation explores the topic of courage in Nicolae Steinhardt's life and theology. Nicolae Steinhardt (1912-1989) was a Jewish-born intellectual who converted to Orthodoxy as a political prisoner in Communist Romania, to then later become a monk. In the beginning I introduce the topic, motivation and structure of this dissertation, which analyses courage as experience and virtue. In the first chapter I present the author, his context, life journey, work and its reception. In the second chapter I focus on the topic of courage as a virtue in Steinhardt's work and theology and I review it from multiple perspectives. The last chapter concludes the analysis by assessing the relevance of Steinhardt's contribution to today's context
Economic resilience and the state: A global panel analysis
Modern economies are disturbed by recessions that became more and more globalized, much contagious between countries and regions and with higher negative impact during recessions. In this dynamic context, the recovery after recession is essential to prepare the economy for the next business cycle. Understanding of these business cycles (their causes and impact) is fundamental for public policies that should avoid to be pro-cyclical and to add more vulnerabilities to the existing ones. The economic resilience is now a key concept and refers to the capacity of the economy to recover after any recession. The aim of this paper was to explore the relationship between the dimension of the state and the resilience of the economic system by using a global panel data. The study includes 87 countries (870 observations) and data covering 2009 – 2019 provided by World Bank. We used 2 depending variables: GDP gap and GDP per capita gap and 12 explanatory variables grouped in 4 categories: dimension of the state, the quality of public governance, economic development and regional/global economic dependence). The results are robust and significant, confirming that the dimension of the public intervention and the quality of the public governance & administration have a clear impact on the economic resilience and recovery between business cycles

STUDY ON THE RISK MANAGEMENT IN BANKING INSTITUTIONS
Risk is a key factor for businesses, because you cannot get profit from any activity without risk. Since banking risks are a source of unpredicted expenses, their proper management might stabilize revenues, having the role of shock absorber. At the same time, strengthening the value of banking shares can only be achieved through real communication with the financial markets and the implementation of adequate programmes of banking risk management. The paper analyzes, for the beginning, a series of general aspects regarding risk and banking risk management. Then, we present the conclusions resulting from the quantitative research descriptive type which had as objective the analysis of knowing the measures that have to be taken in the banking management for a better management of risks that might cause bankruptcy and opinions about the NBR responsibilities to monitor and control the banks in the system.risk, management, bank
The necessity of operational risk management and quantification
Beginning with the fact that performant strategies of the financial institutions have programmes and management procedures for the banking risks, which have as main objective to minimize the probability of risk generation and the bank’s potential exposure, this paper wants to present the operational risk management and quantification methods. Also it presents the modality of minimum capital requirement for the operational risk. Therefore, the first part presents the conceptual approach of the operational risks through the point of view of the financial institutions exposed to this type of risk. The second part describes the management and evaluation methods for the operational risk. The final part of this article presents the approach assumed by a financial institution with a precise purpose: the quantification of the minimum capital requirements of the operational risk.Operational risk, operational risk profile, standard approach, gross income, administrative general expenses
A REVIEW OF STUDENT TEST PROPERTIES IN CONDITION OF MULTIFACTORIAL LINEAR REGRESSION
Having in view previous contributions of the author related to the impact of collinearity on the estimated values of parameters of multifactorial linear regressions, in this paper the correlation between Student and Fisher test is emphasized and a correction of the standard computation of the Student test is proposed, in order to increase the respective test relevance and to detect the occurrence of “statistical illusions” determined by collinearity. Also, the impact of adding a new explanatory variable in the linear regression equation is analyzed and the conditions in which such a step is efficient are determined.Correlation between Fisher test and Student test computed values, Coefficient of alignment to collinearity hazard, Corrected Sudent Test, Interdependence between adjusted coefficient of determination and corrected Sudent Test, Anticollinearity
