    Varvara Stepanova: Incomplete Design History Podcast

    Varvara Stepanova was a leader of the constructivist movement and co-author of the constructivist manifesto. Described as “a frenzied artist,” she designed books, magazines, posters, advertisements, as well as textiles, clothing, and costumes. On top of that, she was an author and poet. Her design style and aesthetic was avant garde, modern, and often characterized by simplicity and geometric forms and patterns, but Varvara was never content with stasis. She constantly evolved her style and worked to develop new concepts and ideas. As a co-founder of the Constructivist movement, her work typifies the aesthetic and philosophies of Constructivism. While Varavara worked on many of her own projects, she also did many together with her husband, Alexander Rodchenko, another well-known Constructivist designer. Her work often gets linked to Rodchenko’s, and it’s Rodchenko who gets mentioned in histories of graphic design and credit for designs that should be attributed to Stepanova as well.     As a result of the socioeconomic transformations in the Russian Federation, the openness of border regions under the influence of integration process taking place in the world community facilitates tourist mobility between neighbouring countries. The author describes an approach that considers the border regions of Northwest Russia as attractive destinations for tourists from neighbouring countries. The development of cross-border tourism as a specific form characteristic of only border regions is one of key areas of tourism development in these regions. An assessment of the prospects of developing cross-border tourism in the border regions of Russian Northwest becomes a relevant research objective. The author identifies the specific features and general trends in the development of cross-border tourism in the Russian regions in question. It is proven that Russian border regions are less competitive than the territories of neighbouring states in terms of the development of crossborder tourism. The author also points out to the avenues of stimulating cross-border tourism development in Russian border regions

    Art return rates from old master paintings to contemporary art

    We study return rates on art investment using a complete dataset on repeated sales for Old Master Paintings, Modern art and Contemporary art auctioned worldwide at Christie's and Sotheby's from 2000 to 2018. We show that return rates do not depend systematically on past prices or the place of sale, but we emphasize substantial differences in returns across sectors. We also control for changes in transaction costs (buyers' premiums and artists' resale rights), characteristics of the sale (evening sales, price guarantees and past bought-ins) and news on the lots (changed attributions, public exhibitions or death of the author) that appear reflected in art returns. We confirm the absence of masterpiece effects in American, Chinese and Ethnic art. Finally, using historical data on prices during Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical periods, we find evidence that price changes are independent from initial prices also in the long run

Pirmā daļā autore ir teorētiski analizējusi pedagogu un psihologu teorētiskās atziņas par 3 – 4 gadus vecu bērnu psiholoģisko attīstību, matemātisko prasmju veidošanos un vizuālo mākslu. Otrajā daļā ir veikts pētījums par bērna zināšanām pirms pētījuma un pēc pētījuma, veikta pedagoģiskā analīze par praktisko darbu pētījuma laikā. Spēle padara valodas mācīšanos aizraujošāku, interesantāku nomāc skolēnos baiļu sajūtu, bailes kļūdīties, lietojot valodu, un būtiski atvieglina mācību darbu. Spēles iesaista skolēnus darbībā, kas ir pamatnosacījums sekmīgai valodas apguvei. Strādājot pie izvēlētās tēmas, autore balstījās uz šādu teorētiķu atzinumiem, kā I. Kāposta, A. Markova, M. Skatkins, pedagoģiskās aprobācijas rezultātā, pierādot savas tēmas aktualitāti.The theme of this diploma paper is games as a way of forming motivation teaching Latvian as the second language in 6th form. The author indicates that the chosen theme of the diploma paper is essential in nowadays school. Language games help to make the process of teaching the second language more interesting and exciting, lessness the fear of pupils and the fear of making a mistake when using the language and, in fact, making it easier to learn. Bakalaura darba “Atgriezeniskās saites izmantošana 5. klases matemātikas stundās” mērķis ir izpētīt atgriezeniskās saites lomu mācību procesā un izstrādāt metodiskos materiālus efektīvas atgriezeniskās saites izmantošanai matemātikas mācību stundās. Lai sasniegtu darba mērķi, bakalaura darba ietvaros ir izpētīta metodiskā literatūra par atgriezeniskās saites būtību un izstrādāti metodiskie ieteikumi atgriezeniskās saites efektīvai mācīšanai skolēniem matemātikas mācību stundās. Veikti novērojumi divās 5. klasēs par atgriezeniskās saites ietekmi uz skolēna iesaistīšanos mācību procesā. Darba izstrādes laikā ir aprobētas un pilnveidotas dažādas atgriezeniskās saites formas un veidi, veikta skolotāju anketēšana, lai apzinātu praktizējošu skolotāju pieredzi saistībā ar atgriezenisko saiti un tās lietošanu mācību procesā, kā arī aptaujāti skolēni, lai noskaidrotu galvenos ieguvumus, mācību procesā, izmantojot atgriezenisko saiti, un skolēnu attieksmi pret atgriezeniskās saites lietošanu turpmāk matemātikas mācību stundās. The bachelor paper’s “Feedback in Math Lessons in 5th Grades” purpose is to investigate the role of feedback in the learning process and to develop methodological materials for the use of effective feedback in math lessons. In order to achieve the aim of the work, in the framework of the Bachelor paper, methodological literature connected to the nature of feedback is explored and methodological recommendations for effective student teaching in math lessons are explored. Observations were made in two 5th grades on the impact of the feedback on the student’s involvement in the learning process, to whom the author taught math for the first time. Various forms and types of feedback were approbated and refined. Teacher surveys have been conducted to identify the experience of practicing teachers in relation to the feedback and its use in the learning process. The students were questioned to find out the main benefits of using feedback in the learning process and the attitude of students towards the usage of feedback in math lessons in the future. Purposefully choosing feedback activities in the lesson, the student's ability to manage his own learning is encouraged and a deeper understanding of his performance in relation to the lessons attainable outcome is shaped

    Kvalifikācijas darba temats : 2- 3 gadus vecu bērnu pašapkalpošanās prasmju apguve pedagoģiskajā procesā Darba autore: Inese Stepanova Kvalifikācijas darba mērķis: teorētiski izzināt un empīriski pārbaudīt 2-3 gadus vecu bērnu pašapkalpošanās prasmju apguvi pirmsskolas pedagoģiskajā procesā Mērķa īstenošanai tika izvirzīti pētījuma uzdevumi: 1.Analizēt zinātnisko literatūru, kas saistīta ar 2-3 gadus vecu bērnu pašapkalpošanās prasmju apguvi, 2.Empīriski pētīt 2-3 gadus vecu bērnu pašapkalpošanās prasmju sekmēšanu pirmsskolas pedagoģiskajā procesā, 3.Izstrādāt secinājumus. Darbs sastāv no divām daļām: 1.Teorētiskā daļa, 2.Empīriskā daļa. Teorētiskajā daļā: tika analizēta zinātniskā literatūra par pašapkalpošanās prasmju būtību pirmsskolas periodā un 2-3 gadus vecu bērnu attīstības raksturojums pētnieciskā temata kontekstā. Darba autore analizēja un aprakstīja, kādi ir pedagoģiskie nosacījumi, lai pašapkalpošanās prasmju attīstība noritētu pedagoģiskajā procesā. Empīriskajā daļā: tika veikts vērojums par bērnu pašapkalpošanās prasmēm pirms pētījuma uzsākšanas un to raksturojums. Darba autore izvirzīja četras pašapkalpošanās prasmes (ievēro personīgo higiēnu, uzvelk un novelk apģērbu, ievēro galda kultūru, apmeklē labierīcības) un veica pedagoģisko izmēģinājuma darbību, lai šīs prasmes uzlabotu. Pēc pedagoģiskās izmēģinājuma darbības, tika apkopoti rezultāti un izdarīti secinājumi. Kvalifikācijas darbs sastāv no: 43 lapaspusēm, 3 tabulām, 16 attēliem, 8 pielikumiem, 32 izmantotās literatūras. To empirically study the promotion of self-care skills of 2-3 year old children in the preschool pedagogical process, 3. Develop conclusions. The work consists of two parts: 1.The theoretical part 1.The empirical part In the theoretical part: the empirical part the scientific literature on the nature of self-care skills in the preschool period and the characteristics of the development of 2-3 year old children in the context of the research topic were analysed. The author of the work analysed and described the pedagogical conditions for the development of self-service skills to take place in the pedagogical process. In the empirical part: an observation of children's self-care skills was made before the start of the study and their characteristics. The author of the work identified four self-care skills (observes personal hygiene, puts on and takes off clothes, observes table manners, visits the restrooms) and conducted a pedagogical pilot activity to improve these skills.After the pedagogical pilot activity, the results were collected and conclusions were drawn.     Poetic metaphor in literary discourse devoted to war ("War of the beasts and the animals" by Maria Stepanova)

    Maria Stiepanowa (1972) - rosyjska pisarka, eseistka i dziennikarka, za swój wyjątkowy talent literacki była szeroko nagradzana w Rosji i Europie. W roku 2015 opublikowała poemat Wojna bestii i zwierząt, będący poetycką reakcją na historyczne wydarzenie, jakim była aneksja Krymu przez Rosję (2014). Wyszukana poetyka i skomplikowana obrazowość utworu kryje w sobie opis odwiecznej historii starć i konfliktów dwóch narodów (Rosji i Ukrainy) mówiących wspólnym językiem. W artykule pragnę przyjrzeć się, w jaki sposób nowatorski język poetycki (metaforyka) Marii Stiepanowej ukazuje okrutne obrazy wojny i czy jej twórczość jest w stanie stać się „nowym głosem o wojnie” wypowiadanym w języku rosyjskim.Maria Stepanova (1972) is a Russian writer, essayist, and journalist, who is recognized in Russia and Europe for her outstanding literary gift. In 2015 she published a poem entitled War of the Beasts and the Animals, her poetic response to the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation (2014). The complicated poetics and convoluted imagery of this work describe an age-long history of conflicts between two nations (Russians and Ukrainians) being, as a matter of fact, a “civil war” (quote from the poem War of the Beasts…). In the paper, the author discusses how the innovative poetic language (metaphors) of Maria Stepanova processes the cruel images of war and tries to find the answer: whether it can become “a new voice in the war” spoken in Russian.Мария Степанова (1972) - российская писательница, публицистка и журналистка, за исключительный литературный талант получившая широкое признание в России и Европе. В 2015 году опубликовала поэму  Война зверей и животных, которая является поэтической реакцией на историческое событие, каким оказалась аннексия Крыма Россией в 2014 году. В сложной поэтике и образности произведения кроется описание извечной истории столкновений и конфликтов двух народов (России и Украины), фактически борющихся в одной общей гражданской войне и говорящих на одном и том же языке. В статье мне хотелось бы посмотреть, как новаторский поэтический язык (метафорика) Марии Степановой перевоплощает жестокие образы войны и способен ли он оказаться «новым голосом о войне», выраженным на русском языке
