    No full text
The formation of the literary image of Ivan Matveyevich Muravyov-Apostol is discussed, who entered the history of Russian literature as the author of a journalistic series “Letters from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod” and “The Journey in Tauris in 1820.” It is noted that I. M. Muravyov-Apostol is famous for being “a scholar and lover of antiquity.” The author of the article explores the translation activity of I. M. Muravyov-Apostol, his enthusiasm for the work of the Roman poet Horace. It is shown how the translations of satirical works and odes of Horace by Muravyov-Apostol influenced the formation of his literary interests and, accordingly, the creation of the literary image of the writer. The critical works devoted to the translation activity of Muravyov-Apostol are considered. The role of friendship is noted between the writer and G. R. Derzhavin with whom they were united by similar attitude to the literary and civil issues, as well as interest in ancient culture and translation of satirical works and odic poetry of Horace. Excerpts from their correspondence are given, as well as opinions of other writers about the creative activities of Muravyov-Apostol. The author concludes that special influence on the formation of Muravyov-Apostol’s literary image had self-presentation of his translations at meetings of the society “Beseda lyubiteley russkogo slova.

What Are The Proven Utility Scale Applications For Solar Steam Systems In Alberta?

    No full text
This paper will assess What are the proven utility scale applications for Solar Steam systems in Alberta? Although Alberta does not have adequate sunshine to generate year-round electricity through solar technology, there is suitable irradiance to economically produce high-quality steam for use in industrial processes. Solar steam systems will empower Alberta oil industry meet its environmental commitments while providing revenues that can help recoup capital investment. This study will integrate an economic analysis as an additional dimension to energy generation potential and environmental benefits of the technology. The financial modeling will reflect the baseline cost for solar fields within NREL’s System Advisor Model. The performance-enhancing and cost-reducing model of enclosing solar mirrors in a glasshouse, proven by GlassPoint, will increase the viability of solar steam applications in Alberta. Building a solar steam generation system is seen as technically feasible, with the obstacles being mainly economic and surface right allocation

On applications of blending generating functions of q-Apostol-type polynomials

    No full text
Motivated by Kurt's blending generating functions of q-Apostol polynomials [16], we investigate some new identities and relations. We also aim to derive several new connections between these polynomials and generalized q-Stirling numbers of the second kind. Additionally, by making use of the fermionic p-adic integral over the p-adic numbers field, some relationships including unified Apostol-type q-polynomials and classical Euler numbers are obtained.Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK)Turkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Arastirma Kurumu (TUBITAK); Hasan Kalyoncu UniversityHasan Kalyoncu UniversityThe first author is thankful to The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) for their support with the Ph.D. scholarship. The Ruse of Reading: The Postcolonial Literary Marketplace and the Novels of Gina Apostol

    No full text
This paper explores the politics of reading in the novelistic production of Gina Apostol in relation to Sarah Brouillette’s analysis of the postcolonial literary marketplace, Timothy Brennan’s critique of cosmopolitanism, and Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak’s tracking of the native informant in postcolonial discourse. In Brouillette’s work, postcolonial writers, unlike the Romantic author who disavows commercial popularity, are aware of the commodification of their work and interact with it, either through resistance or complicity. Cosmopolitanism for Brennan denotes an unequal flow of intellectual commodities between center and periphery instantiated in the consciousness of the migrant writer valorized in “international book markets because of their authentic native attachment to a specific Third World locale” (“Cosmopolitans and Celebrities” 3). Lastly, the native informant, in Spivak’s A Critique of Postcolonial Reason, is a postcolonial subject whose self-representation projects the ascendancy of liberal Western discourse while authenticating a homogenized identity for the ‘Other’

“The Journey in Tauris in 1820” by I. M. Muravyov-Apostol: Abstract and Concrete Reader in Author’s Compellation

    No full text
The article presents two views on the image of the addressee of the letters from “The Journey in Tauris” by I. M. Muravyov-Apostol. The study notes that the author of “The Journey...”, without specifying a particular person, creates an image of a reader poetically minded and interested in history, who tends to collect and analyze the information, knows (or at least interested in) ancient languages and culture, and dreams of his / her own journey in search of ancient artifacts. At the same time, having analyzed the text of the work and highlighted some facts from the author’s life, we see that the author’s compellation points to a concrete person - K. N. Batyushkov, friend and relative of the writer. In addition, these provisions help to recreate the image of the writer himself - scholar, great connoisseur of antiquity, rigorous researcher of antiquity, scientist seeking in his work to encompass all areas of knowledge; man who can impress the readers with his narrative. Given the fact that we have few memoirs of contemporaries about I. M. Muravyov-Apostol, this kind of material is of interest to create a literary portrait of the writer

The article is dedicated to the functioning of the omission technique in the chapters of “Memoirs” by M. I. Muravyev-Apostol, written in different periods of his life: its stylistic and compositional design, meaning, as well as the factors due to which it was used by the author, including psychological reasons, the influence of literary tradition and undevelopment of the certain type of discourse in the culture of the first half of the 19th century

Recurrence relations, associated formulas, and combinatorial sums for some parametrically generalized polynomials arising from an analysis of the Laplace transform and generating functions

    No full text
The aim of this paper is to obtain some interesting infinite series representations for the Apostol-type parametrically generalized polynomials with the aid of the Laplace transform and generating functions. In particular, by using the method of generating functions, we derive not only recurrence relations, but also several other formulas, identities, and relations as well as combinatorial sums for these parametrically generalized numbers and polynomials and for other known special numbers and polynomials. These identities, relations and combinatorial sums are related to the two-parameter types of the Apostol-Bernoulli polynomials of higher order, the two-parameter types of Apostol-Euler polynomials of higher order, the two-parameter types of Apostol-Genocchi polynomials of higher order, the Apostol-Bernoulli polynomials of higher order, the Apostol-Euler polynomials of higher order, the Apostol-Genocchi polynomials of higher order, the cosine- and sine-Bernoulli polynomials, the cosine- and sine-Euler polynomials, the lambda-array-type polynomials, the lambda-Stirling numbers, the polynomials C-n(x,y)Cn(x,y), and the polynomials S-n(x,y)Sn(x,y). Finally, we present several new recurrence relations for these special polynomials and numbers.Scientific Research Project Administration of the University of AkdenizThe author Y. This paper give us a demonstration of twin primes conjecture using approximation of function (iupsilon) that we introduce in section 6. Section 1-5 give us introduction to terminology and a clarification on (iupsilon) terms. In particular section 5 is really important because of its Lemma. Section 7 reassume foregoing explanations and it give us two theorems and one corollary;the theorem 7.2 give us exact approximation of twin primes counting function
