D6.1 RUN-EU Plus Innovation Ecosystem
Get PDFThe RUN European University Innovation Ecosystem will promote a knowledge sharing approach and knowledge transfer capacity, valorising the entrepreneurial mind-set amongst our researchers and innovators. Building on innovative partnerships between RUN-EU researchers and industry partners and other stakeholders, the aim is to remove existing obstacles to innovation and revolutionize the way the public and private sector work together to bring research developments and advancements to the marketplace for societal benefit. Since its launch in 2020, the RUN-EU Erasmus+ project (grant agreement no. 101004068) has already developed key pillars of this innovation ecosystem which include the introduction of 3 innovation hubs and 8 themed research clusters.
This document presents these already established key elements in addition to a review of the current innovation capacity of the RUN-EU partner institutions which was undertaken by the RUN-EU PLUS Horizon 2020 project (grant agreement no. 101035816). It proposes an Innovation Capacity Programme and a governance structure which will build the RUN-EU Innovation Ecosystem as a pan-European ecosystem of innovation embedded in all RUN-EU partner regions and allows pan-European collaboration in business, research, and education as a vehicle of regional development

No full textThis document describes the development of the RUN-EU PLUS researcher career training programme for the period 2022-2024 based on feedback information from the project partners. The programme has been designed to be offered across all RUN-EU PLUS partner organisations.
According to the RUN-EU PLUS workplan, three editions of the researcher career development programme will be implemented. The first workshop of the programme was delivered on the 9th of June 2022, and two following workshops in 2022 will be implemented in September. Further editions of the programme will be delivered in 2023 and in 2024. The programme covers 1) three annual workshops of an average duration of one day, 2) the themes of existing courses for researchers provided by the RUN-EU partner universities, and 3) identified programme development needs. The workshops will address the researchers of all partners (estimated a total of 125 researchers involved)

informing teaching and learning and adding to the global body of knowledge. These
principles detailed within the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity (ECoC)
together with good research practices are essential for promoting and safeguarding
culture of research integrity in RUN-EU PLUS.
RUN-EU PLUS brings together 7 regionally focused Institutions (more than 75.000
students and 8.000 staff), committed to societal transformation in their regions in the
context of both new and emerging regional and global challenges, sustainable regional
development and regional needs. The members have a regional as opposed to a city
focus and have a proven track record in the delivery of future and advanced skills
activities in teaching, learning, research and engagement relevant to societal challenges
including future industry, sustainable development, environment and climate change,
ageing population and social inclusion. RUN-EU through the RUN-EU PLUS coordinated
support action is committed to building research capacity and scale through the
development of research human capital, facilitating research activity and opportunities
linked to education and enterprise with a regional orientation. Researchers are the most
important asset of the RUN-EU research system
D4.6 RUN-EU Plus Research and Career Evaluation System.
Get PDFAn essential goal of the Regional University Network - European University (RUN-EU) is that
RUN-EU researchers will develop strong competencies in research and transferable skills in
addition to the ability to effectively plan their future career and learning paths. The Research
and Career Evaluation System that is being developed by the RUN-EU PLUS project should
explicitly support these general goals.
This report is the first description of the Research and Career Evaluation System developed for
the RUN European University. We follow the recommendations described in the EU report
Towards a Reform of the Research Assessment (2021) with the aim to develop research skills
and researcher career evaluation systems that are based on intrinsic merits and performance.
Also following the EU report suggestions, the RUN-EU research and career evaluation system
aims to be flexible to “accommodate the diversity of countries, disciplines, research cultures,
research maturity levels, the specific missions of institutions, and career paths”. As the RUN
European University alliance is a multidisciplinary and international network, it is natural that
the partner universities have some different practices regarding research and researcher
evaluation, such as in researcher recruitment. One university of the alliance, TUS, currently has
a Researcher Career Framework Policy in place. It provides the focus for topics and content
included in the researcher career evaluation system. The university also implements a personal
development plan template for researchers to use to identify skills training requirements. IPCA
is in the process of developing a researcher career evaluation system, as is FHV and HAMK

Open science is an overarching topic that influences all work packages within RUN-EU PLUS. This deliverable aims to give a short definition and an overview on open science in the context of the European Union. It defines the role and characteristics of Open Science Ambassadors (OSA) and it establishes the RUN-EU PLUS OSA network. The deliverable also contains the nominated OSA of each partner within the alliance.
2. Open Science in modern universities
2.1 Open Science in the EU
Open Science is a crucial part of the digital future of the European Union (EU). It is a policy priority for the European Commission. By applying open science in all research and innovation funding programmes the EU intends to “improve the quality, efficiency and responsiveness of research”1. The official definition of open science by the EU is as follows:
“An approach to the scientific process that focuses on spreading knowledge as soon as it is available using digital and collaborative technology. Expert groups, publications, news and events.”1
In further detail, eight ambitions of the EU’s Open Science policy are defined2.

2) European Open Science Cloud (EOSC)
3) New generation metrics
4) Future of scholarly communication
5) Rewards
6) Research integrity
7) Education and skills
8) Citizen science
To sum up: Open Science is seen as a system change by the European Union and it is a specific goal of the RUN-EU PLUS network to support this system change by implementing a clear Open Science strategy within the network
D4.3 Annual report on the implementation of the research career development framework training workshops. 1st report.
Get PDFAn essential goal of the RUN European University is that RUN-EU researchers will develop strong competencies in research and transferable skills and the ability to plan their future career and learning paths. The European Charter for Researchers (Commission Recommendation 2005/251/EC) views teaching as an essential means for structuring and disseminating knowledge and as such as an invaluable option within researcher career paths (see also European Commission, Press release 18 January 2022).
This document focuses in detail on the RUN-EU PLUS Research Career Development Framework training workshops and the implementation of the inaugural workshop in June 2022. The RUN-EU PLUS Deliverable 4.2 (D4.2) Researcher Career Development Training Workshop Programmes (July 2022) presents the full training programme which will delivered annually from September 2022, including the planning process and background material. This Deliverable 4.3 report is the first of three annual RUN-EU PLUS reports of Work Package 4 presenting the workshop content that was delivered and the feedback responses from workshop participants. Suggestions for improvements will be implemented in the subsequent editions of the programme

The branding utilised also follows from RUN-EU in order to continue connectivity and recognition of quality of product and activities promoted. The RUN-EU PLUS webpage menu contains links to each activity associated with a work package output and content is continuously updated to ensure real-time communication and dissemination of RUN-EU PLUS outputs. Impacts are therefore measurable based on number of hits per activity page. News articles are also posted here

This RUN-EU PLUS Communication and Outreach Strategy document lists all planned dissemination and communication activities, tools, and channels, and matches them with target stakeholders’ categories and key performance indicators. This document will be a reference framework for evaluating the impact of dissemination activities and will be updated and adjusted during the duration of the project whenever needed

No full textHosted by the Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest (TUS),
Ireland, the RUN-EU PLUS Annual International Conference on Applied Research with
Business and Society (ICARUS) was held online on 14 December 2022 (10h00-15h00
CET). There were 292 Eventbrite registrations for the conference and 188 attendees at
the event. This was the second of the annual RUN-EU PLUS ICARUS conference since the
project was launched on 5 November 2021, at the RUN-EU General Assembly in Ireland.
The annual ICARUS conference engages research students, scholars, researchers, and
business and society stakeholders in discussions concerning the development of
practice-based research degree programmes, open science practice and researcher
career development across the Regional University Network – European University
(RUN-EU). Conference attendees from the 7 RUN-EU partner HEIs were joined by
colleagues from the University of Burgos and Howest University of Applied Sciences,
Belgium as well as be associated partners of RUN-EU who are our regional stakeholders
