The article analyses the traits that are peculiar to Luigi Da Porto’s novella of Giulietta and Romeo, highlighting that, if compared with Bandello’s more successful version, it is based on a meaningful interplay of silence and simulation which influences all the characters. In this way, Da Porto’s story proves to be a tragedy of appearance and denied communication. Furthermore, this article shows that the peculiarities of Da Porto’s novella lead to the identification of a specific ‘Veneto’ tradition of the Veronese lovers’ story, which is not only anchored in the fifteenth-century local novella, represented by the "Refugio de’ miseri", but involves also other genres, from the poem in ‘ottave’ (Gherardo Boldieri’s "L’infelice amore dei due fedelissimi amanti Giulia e Romeo") to the tragedy (Luigi Groto’s "Adriana")
Indocyanine green fluorescence angiography: a new ERAS item
ERAS protocol and indocyanine green fluorescence angiography (ICG-FA) represent the new surgical revolution minimizing complications and shortening recovery time in colorectal surgery. As of today, no studies have been published in the literature evaluating the impact of the ICG-FA in the ERAS protocol for the patients suitable for colorectal surgery. The aim of our study was to assess whether the systematic evaluation of intestinal perfusion by ICG-FA could improve patients outcomes when managed with ERAS perioperative protocol, thus reducing surgical complication rate. This is a retrospective case-control study. From March 2014 to April 2017, 182 patients underwent laparoscopic colorectal surgery for benign and malignant diseases. All the patients were enrolled in ERAS protocol. Two groups were created: Group A comprehended 107 patients managed within the ERAS pathway only and Group B comprehended 75 patients managed as well as with ERAS pathway plus the intraoperative assessment of intestinal perfusion with ICG-FA. Two board-certified laparoscopic colorectal surgeons jointly performed all procedures. Six (5.6%) clinically relevant anastomotic leakages (AL) occurred in Group A, while there was none in Group B, demonstrating that ICG-FA integrated in the ERAS protocol can lead to a statistically significant reduction of the AL. Mean operative time between the two groups was not statistically significant. In five cases (6.6%), the demarcation line set by the fluorescence made the surgeon change the resection line previously marked. The prevalence of all other complications did not differ statistically between the two groups. Our study confirms that combination between ICG and ERAS protocol is feasible and safe and reduces the anastomotic leakage, possibly leading to consider ICG-FA as a new ERAS item
Quantum Spacetime and Algebraic Quantum Field Theory
We review the investigations on the quantum structure of spactime, to be found at the Planck scale if one takes into account the operational limitations to localization of events which result from the concurrence of Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity. We also discuss the different approaches to (perturbative) Quantum Field Theory on Quantum Spacetime, and some of the possible cosmological consequences

Bembo’s Letter to Maria Savorgnan Published in the Anthology by Paolo Gherardo (1544) and the History of the Fourth Volume of Bembo’s Letters · In view of the publication of a four-volume edition of his letters, Pietro Bembo subjected them to a careful and detailed revision and rewriting process. This article discusses Bembo’s revision work by offering an analysis of a littleknown draft of a letter he wrote to his then-lover Maria Savorgnan, which was published for the first time in 1544, while the author was still alive but without his approval, in the collection of letters edited by Paolo Gherardo and printed in Venice. By means of this specific case study, this article also provides an opportunity to reflect in more detail on the publishing history and printed tradition of the fourth volume of Bembo’s posthumous letters, published in Venice by Gualtiero Scotto in 1552, which collects in particular the letters written by the Venetian humanist to his female correspondents
The article falls into a wider research on the redactional history of Bucolicum carmen meum by Francis Petrarch before the autograph transcription of the 1357 (today Città del Vaticano, Bibl. Apostolica Vaticana, Vat. lat. 3358). In particular, it deals with an important editorial fossil of the eclogue Parthenias (= Buc. carm. I) preserved by the letter Fam. X 4 addressed to Gherardo Petrarca presumably in December 1349, whereby the author provided his recipient with exegetical assistance to understand the allegorically encrypted meanings of the eclogue
Plato’s κάλλιστον δρᾶμα in Greek Biography
In the huge repertoire on Plato’s Nachleben in the ancient world conceived by Dörrie, several passages, which derive from the Greek biography, include a judgement of great value and sharp originality on Plato’s corpus: a judgement, that is mainly handed down by means of the Greek biography code, which, on the basis of his Peripatetic origin, demonstrates as central feature the fruitful commitment to project details of the work of an author on his personal life experiences. The paper will give a critical assessment on the reflection of Hermippus on Demosthenes as Plato’s pupil, of Dicaearchus on the dream of Socrates, of Alexander Polyhistor on the tragedies stake, of Dionysius of Halicarnassus on Plato’s troubles, of Euphorion of Chalcis and Panaitius on the incipit of the Politeia, of the author of the commentary in the Berlin Papyrus on the incipit of the Theaetetus. The principal aim is to reconstruct in the Greek biography the roots of the modern interpretation of Plato’s corpus as the result of a great and conscious literary engagement, in accordance to Plato’s definition of his own production as κάλλιστον δρᾶμα
Un teatro dietro le quinte. Le drammaturgie inedite di Gherardo Gherardi.
Gherardo Gherardi (1891-1949), journalist, theater critic, dramatist and screenwriter, played a central role in the scene of the show and, generally, in that of the culture between the two world wars.
This work returns, in diplomatic edition, eleven Gherardi’s unplublished plays in italian language, that, through the entire published production of the author, convey both themes and forms already known and dormant or undervalued aspects of his dramaturgy.
Three papers, they too returned in diplomatic edition, of Gherardi with Silvio d’Amico, Giulio Pacuvio and Ruggero Ruggeri, almost completely unpublished, follow the edition of the unplublished plays.
A historical-critical essay introduces the philological part of the thesis. This essay, making use of documentary materials, describes the Gherardi’s biographical profile, his poetic and his dramaturgical identity, without forgetting the exegetical study of a significant, even for the troubled process of drafting, unpublished play of his dramaturgy: Diogene.
A new and detailed teatrografia and a document summary of the author’s archival collection complete the work
The Role of Blockchain in the Public Sector: An Overview
The chapter examines what utility and what functions blockchain can have in the public sector. Having given some thoughts on the underlying objections that could be made to the use of blockchain in the public sector, the author analyses some of the fundamental elements of data management, starting from the notion of database. Having therefore described what are the functional processes for data management in the public sector, the author illustrates which features and functionality of the blockchain could be useful in the public sector. Some potential uses of blockchain technology are therefore described
Peter II Orseolo – Dux Veneticorum et Dalmaticorum
Autor analizira ekspediciju dužda Petra II. Orseola god. The author analyzes doge Peter II Orseolo’s expedition to Dalmatia in the year 1000 which is known from John the Deacon’s report, looks at the ambiguities of this report and in doing so pays particular attention to the interior affairs of Venice at the time of the expedition and describes the conflict of two tendencies amongst the leading families in Venice: alignment with the German Empire headed at the time by the Candian family or closer connections with Byzantium which was advocated by the Orseolo family. The second option prevailed when Peter II Orseolo came to power, when in close cooperation with Byzantium he undertook a campaign with the Venetian fleet all the way to the island of Korčula. For Byzantium this campaign was very important because of their struggle with Samuil since the goal was to draw away a part of Samuil’s forces to the West but it was also of immense advantage to the Venetians because Byzantium, in order to pay for Venetian intervention, was forced to give up real authority over the Kvarner islands, retaining a mere formal sovereignty over them. As another example of a new powerful presence of the Venetians on the Adriatic the author analyzes the aid which Peter II Orseolo gave to Bari under Byzantine rule in 1003. A precious graphite on an island near the settlement Vieste on Gargano testifies to this aid
