Poly-amino-phenolic additives accelerating the carbonation of hydrated lime in mortar

    No full text
Preliminary tests were carried out to evaluate the influence of poly-amino-phenolic (PAP) oligomers on the absorption of CO2 from air into aqueous saturated solution of Ca(OH)2. Further experiments were then conducted by employing the best additive (PAP2), to facilitate the carbonation of hydrated lime mortars and to identify the most favorable additive content. Mechanical tests and results obtained by infrared spectra suggests that this additive behaves better in accepting, transferring, and giving up CO2 to the lime

Granulation technique for the inertization of fly ash

    No full text
Experimental results on the inertization of fly ashes from coal thermal plants and from municipal solid waste ininerators are reported. A series of mixtures, containing hydrated lime as binder, with the aim to obtain pastes with satisfactory compressive strength are formulated utilizing the granulation technique at room temperature. The treatment with hydrated lime and additives coulld be a cheaper method for the inertization of fly ashes

An update report on the water chemistry of the lakes of central Italy

    No full text
Albano, Bolsena and Bracciano are the most important lakes in Central Italy; the relevance and the potential vulnerability of these lakes is enhanced by their location in a populous area, with a high water demand for agriculture and other public uses. The waters of Lake Bracciano are already utilized for drinking supply to the city of Rome. The aim of this paper is to update the information on the water chemistry of these lakes, on the basis of samplings carried out by the authors; moreover experimental data are compared with similar analyses available from the literature. Besides the mass hydraulic balance of the lake system, the whole volcanic basin was considered and data related to the period 2000-2005 were also highlighted
