    No full text
Starting from the analysis of the metaphorology linked to the thematic field of the conflict, as it is revealed in the fight between the two protagonists of "Im Dickicht der Städte", the author highlights how in Brechtian drama determinate processes of linguistic construction tend towards the recovery, on a formal level, of the civilisation divide which is evident, on a thematic level, in the inhumanity of the fight that the two protagonists engage. Particular attention is paid to the incidence that these aspects have on interlinguistic and intralinguistic translation strategies, on the basis of the staging directed in 1997 by Roberto Ciulli (in Müllheim an der Rühr) and by Federico Tiezzi (in Florence)

    "Hamletmaschine" di Heiner Müller

    No full text
The essay analyses the work of one of the most important, discussed, and contradictory authors of the German theatre of the post-war period, an author who lived in the German Democratic Republic. The study regards the modern tragedy in which the story as such does apparently not exist anymore, since it is ‘frozen’ after the disruption of all ideologies. The text is composed by a series of quotations, faithful or reworked self-quotations which are not always immediately detectable, thus rendering the interpretation extremely complicated. "The Hamletmachine" is the intellectual’s destruction: Hamlet is an intellectual who experiences only nausea and disgust with a world that is unable to change. The original Shakespearian text is turned upside down: Hamlet becomes the symbol of the loss of hope. According to the author, drama is, at the same time, the representation of the necessary collapse and the self-critique of the contemporary intellectual

Pari trattamento linguistico nelle aree germanofone

The article deals with gender-inclusive language in Austria, Germany and Switzerland which pay particular attention to its use. The lively discussion about gender-inclusive language was prompted in German-speaking countries by an article by Trömel-Plötz nel 1978, who approached the Ungleichbehandlung von Frauen im Sprachsystem und Sprachverhalten in a soberer way than positions expressed in the framework of German feminist linguistics (s. too Sieburg 1997: 25), and the subject remains significant today. The website of the Bundesverwaltungsamt shows very clear guidelines containing various solutions for Sprachliche Gleichbehandlung and indicating pros and cons of achieving gender linguistic equality (e.g. Sprachliche Gleichbehandlung). The very concise Austrian guidelines underline that formulations giving women the impression of being just mitgemeint are unsuitable and indicates solutions to a greater or lesser extent present in the guidelines of Germany stressing the need for double denominations such as Landeshauptmann – Landeshauptfrau or for denominations with derivative suffix, such as Bürgermeister – Bürgermeisterin. In Switzerland, gender-inclusive language is treated in the handbook Geschlechtergerechte Sprache 2009 (192 pages), taking into account Italian, French and Romance in the awareness that gender linguistic equality depends on the specifities of the single language too. The handbook underlines that the decisive element is the Adressatengerechtigkeit (suitability for the target readership) and that the motto is creativity. It stresses, furthermore, the importance of using gender-inclusive language in rules and contracts. The Region Trentino-South Tyrol decidely treads the path of gender-inclusive language, as shown for ex. by the denomination of professions using double forms both in Italian and in German

Übersetzungspraxis und Hermeneutik im Spannungsverhältnis zwischen Vergangenheit und Gegenwart

    No full text
The article moves from Schleiermacher’s reflection that the hermeneutic method is a necessary component in the life of a cultivated person insofar as we continuously interpret the (not especially complex) discourse of our interlocutors, which clarifies why Hermeneutics sometimes becomes banal if his further observation is not taken into account i.e. that Hermeneutics as a technical method can be applied when the object to be dealt with lends itself to being treated with hermeneutic methods. Translators became aware of the importance of Hermeneutics for their work when translation evolved into an academic discipline and had to set up a theoretical basis. The author argues that Hermeneutics can still be useful for translation if it is employed within certain limits, above all the social acceptability of the interpretation provided by the translator. Furthermore, the article highlights the problem of misunderstanding and not understanding as treated by Schleiermacher and also useful for the present as well (concept of instability). The author also underlines the importance of sociable conversation (geselliger Dialog), to be considered a hermeneutic dialogue, important in mapping the “right” interpretation

    Karl May als imaginärer Reisender

This essay deals with Karl May (1842-1912), one of the classical authors of travel and adventure young adult literature, a writer who played an important role within the context of the educational process of a large part of the German-speaking population at the end of the 19th century. Travelling is a central topic in May’s works, as the author leaves for fictive worlds in order to write, while his narrators are constantly travelling. Along his weariness of Europe and the vague pedagogic intention to instruct his own nation as well as to help the visited populations in some way, another implicit motif is that of travelling as a mission to bring to his readers the concrete example of the love among men

    Note sull'attualità di Hebbel (1813-1863)

L'articolo prende in esame l'attualità di Friedrich Hebbel, indagando in particolare i "Diari" e alcune opere teatrali (come "Gyges und sein Ring" e "Die Nibelungen"). The present paper deals with the relevance of Hebbel to the present day. The subject of strangeness, the clash of different cultures with their colliding values, the subject of the uneaseness and the loneliness of man in modern society and the subject of the struggle for the self-assertion, expressing itself in the emphasis of passion as a necessary element for the survival of an integral man, are developed in an innovative way of writing anticipating the coming of new literary forms

Carl Schmitt, La nostalgia del Sistema

    No full text
