Moral Normativity in an Interdisciplinary Perspective: Humans, Animals & Artificial Intelligence

    No full text
Nowadays many disciplines are devoting particular attention from a variety of perspectives to the normative nature of our ways of life. From linguistics to jurisprudence, from anthropology to philosophy, from economics to neuroscience, the subject of moral normativity constitutes a Gordian knot of the present age, towards which the efforts of scientific and philosophical understanding are directed. The following volume aims to reach a better understanding of moral normativity. It collects works by primatologists, sociologists, philosophers of law, ethicists, and phenomenologists to illustrate their contributions to resolving issues regarding the normative profile of ethical concepts, judgments and reasons, i.e., the source of the binding force that guides the behaviour of the human agent. With contributions by John J. Drummond | Federico L.G. The British Museum houses a small collection of six cuneiform tablets and a Palmyrene dedicatory inscription purchased in 1987 from the private collection of Solomon Pottesman. The aim of the present contribution is to provide a catalog of this lot and an edition of the so far unpublished cuneiform texts. In the appendix, Alessio Agostini added the edition of the Palmyrene inscription, which would have otherwise gone beyond the capabilities of the present author

Handheld-Impedance-Measurement System with seven-decade capability and potentiostatic function

This paper describes design and test of a new impedance-measurement system for nonlinear devices that exhibits a seven-decade range and works down to a frequency of 0.01 Hz. The system is specifically designed for electrochemical measurements, but the proposed architecture can be employed in many other fields where flexible signal generation and analysis are required. The system employs an unconventional signal generator based on two pulsewidth modulation (PWM) oscillators and an autocalibration system that allows uncertainties of less than 3% to be obtained over a range of 1 kΩ to 100 GΩ. A synchronous demodulation processing allows the noise superimposed to the low-amplitude input signals to be made negligibl

Medical nose reshaping: current evidence behind techniques

oai:iris.univr.it:11562/1125347he nose, centrally located on the face, plays a crucial role in facial aesthetics. Any imbalance in its length, width, tip position, or a gross deformity, such as dorsal hump and deviation, can significantly affect the overall facial harmony, which is thus a major concern for patients. When it comes to minor deformities, they have been treated with hyaluronic acid, toxin injection, and thread insertion since 2005. This study has originally been carried out to review the published medical literature on the non-surgical techniques for Medical Nose Reshaping (MNR): a PubMed search was carried out in December 2020 using the search terms: “Nose [and] filler”, “Nose [and] botulinum toxin” and “Nose [and] thread”. A large number of studies were identified and reviewed, and it was found that rhinoplasty remains the gold standard to correct nose defects; nevertheless, MNR is gaining popularity due to its minimal invasiveness, short downtime, and the market availability of different injectables, toxins, and threads. This study aims to provide an evidence-based approach to guide the use of non-surgical techniques for MNR by reviewing published medical literature and drawing on the authors’ experience

Il GEIE "italiano" tra impresa e società

    Get PDF
