The buckling differential equation for such columns is extremely difficult to solve analytically. Thus, the authors propose a numerical approach by discretizing the column into a finite number of segments. Each segment has constants  (modulus of elasticity),  (moment of inertia), and  (subgrade stiffness). Next, an exact analytical solution is derived for each prismatic segment resting on uniform elastic foundation. These segments are then assembled in a matrix from which the critical buckling load is obtained. The derived formulation accounts for different end boundary conditions. Validation is performed by benchmarking the present results against analytical solutions found in the literature, showing excellent agreement. After validation, more examples are solved to illustrate the power and flexibility of the proposed method. Overall, the proposed method provides reasonable results, and the examples solved demonstrate the versatility of the developed approach and some of its many possible applications

    Abstract: The spousal abuse is a form of abusive and aggressive actions that woman encounters in her close relationship with her male partner who attempts to uphold control and power over his spouse. This subject has increased widely nowadays and it needs to be investigated through the lens of literature in order to give a voice for the voiceless wives who endure the bad temper and abuse of their spouses. It will be studied in The Wrongs of Woman which is considered as a feminist novel and one of the best 18th century novels. Wollstonecraft’s philosophical and gothic tale tells the story of Her husband has committed her to an insane asylum. It critiques the oppressive sacredness of getting married in eighteenth-century Britain, and also the judicial framework that upholds it, according to Wollstonecraft., and focuses on society rather than individual female wrongdoings. The purpose of this dissertation is to utilize a thematic method to evaluate the theme of spousal abuse of women in the novel, and to investigate the impact and consequences on the main female characters. Her novel , was designed to be read and appreciated as both profoundly restorative and historical important in terms of what that exposes concerning patriarchal and patriarchal systems’ effects on women’s lives.     Home-made chemical vapor deposition-based synthesis of binder-free nanostructured magnesium-molybdenum-sulfide electrode materials for supercapacitor application

    Molybdenum disulfides (MoS2) is considered as promising electrode materials (E-M) for high electrochemical performance (ECP) of lithium-ion batteries and supercapacitors due to their layered nanostructures. Herein, MoS2, MgS and hetrostructure MgS/MoS2 E-Ms comprising of nano-particles/sheets/needles like structures are synthesized on Nickel foam (Ni–F) by a simple home-made chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technique. The XRD analysis confirmed the formation of MoS2, MgS and MgS/MoS2 polycrystalline E-Ms growing along different directions. The FESEM analysis is confirmed that the addition of MgS layer over the surface of MoS2 change the surafce morphology from nano-particles to nano-needles. The change in structural and microstructural features is indicated the appearance of defects, micro-strain and dislocations density which are fruitful for excellent ECP. The cyclic voltammetry analysis is indicated the pseudocapacitive nature of the synthesized E-Ms. The maximum specific capacitance values for MoS2/Ni–F, MgS/Ni–F and MgS/MoS2/Ni–F E-Ms are 1273, 1688 and 3934 F/g at 1 A/g respectively. Moreover, the addition of MgS layer over MoS2/Ni–F is revealed the excellent cyclic stability of 98.76 % at current density of 10 A/g after 4000 cycles, energy density values are ranged from 79 to 136 W h/kg with homologous power density of 250–2500 W/kg and very small charge transfer resistance. The simulations of Power's Law and Dunn's model is confirmed that the excellent ECP is due to both capacitive and diffusive controlled contributions of heterostructured MgS/MoS2/Ni–F E-Ms. Additionally, MgS/MoS2/Ni–F E-Ms have both battery and pseudocapacitive nature due to unique nano-needles like morphology. The excellent electrochemical properties of MgS/MoS2/Ni–F E-Ms substantiate their potential applications in portable energy storage devices.</p

    Implications of the Improvement of Teaching Quality for Professional Development (PD) of Academics at the Colleges of Applied Sciences (CASs) in the Sultanate of Oman

    The Oman Accreditation Council (OAC), which is called later the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA), designed a higher education institution (HEI) Quality Assurance (QA) framework for Omani public and private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), starting with a quality audit process in 2008. The Colleges of Applied Sciences (CASs), as a public HEI, are required to ensure the quality of all services and activities to meet particular national standards (specified in the framework) in order to gain a HEI and programme certificate. In line with a quality audit scope, the quality of the fields of PD and related teaching quality should be ensured and enhanced by the promotion and contribution of the former field to the maintenance and improvement of the latter one. The chief purpose of this study was to identify the uptake and implications of the growing requirement to improve teaching quality and the PD of academics at the CASs in the Sultanate of Oman especially in the context of the application of the QA framework. The study focused on examining the academics’ participation in professional development programmes (PDPs) and current perceptions of PD with respect to the improvement of teaching quality improvement at these colleges. The current study also dealt with a reorganization and prioritization of academics’ PD needs, barriers to effective PD, and factors to enhance PD of academics regarding teaching quality improvement in the colleges. Based on the purpose and research objectives, the current study adopted both positivist (quantitative) and interpretive (qualitative) research paradigms. Because the study perused quantitative and qualitative data regarding certain variables, it chose a mixed-research design. The researcher designed survey questionnaire to collect quantitative data and a semi-structured interview and a focus group discussion to probe and interpret quantitative findings. After fulfillment of the validity and reliability measurements, a self-completion questionnaire was distributed to a stratified random sample of academics (170) over the six CASs. A total of 150 questionnaires (out of 170) were completed and returned and the response-rate reached 88.2%. The quantitative data was analyzed by appropriate analysis using the Statistical Package for Social sciences (SPSS), while the qualitative data was analyzed by appropriate qualitative analysis. The findings of the study showed that the level of academics’ participation in PDPs to improve teaching quality in the last two years in the CASs seems to be unsatisfactorily low. The current perceptions of the PD situations in the colleges, relating to teaching quality improvement, signified a shortage in the number of available PDPs and/or a discouragement of academics’ participation in these programmes in the last two years. The study also revealed all the 22 PD needs of academics regarding the improvement of teaching quality are significantly demanded by participants; the higher rated needs focused on a development of ‘student centred’ skills, such as critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Furthermore, the study illustrated that the highest significant perceived barriers to effective PD in the CASs, as related to teaching quality improvement, focus on a lack of a clear institutional PD policy and a lack of appropriately systematic PD plans. The study also revealed all 10 perceived factors to enhance PD regarding teaching quality improvement are very important. The most significant factors represented and stressed particular problematic issues (the high rated barriers) and a reduction of a heavy workload to enhance academics’ participation in PD regarding the improvement of teaching quality. Conclusions drawn from the discussion of the findings of study include a lack of a clear PD policy at national and institutional levels and absence of a particular authority/unit concerning PD issues in Omani HEIs. The two problematic issues resulted in a lack of systematic and realistic PD plans in the CASs, involving a lack of academics’ involvement in PD plans, a misconnection of academics’ PD needs to PD, inappropriate facilities and resources allocation, and inappropriate evaluation processes of PD. In addition, the conclusions also include that PD of academics regarding the improvement of teaching quality in the colleges requires more attention and focus to manage particular significant issues perceived by participants as both barriers and potential facilitators relating to PD of academics. Based on identified conclusions, particular implications for policy and practice to enhance PD to improve teaching quality were set at three levels: governmental, institutional, and individual. Moreover, achievements of the current study according to the research questions were identified and contributions of the study to the fields of PD, teaching quality, and the context of QA and quality audit in HE were addressed. Based on the findings and conclusions, particular directions and recommended issues were suggested to be studied by further research to benefit the enhancement of PD and related teaching quality improvement

    Accuracy Comparison of Guided Implant Placement Between Tooth and Mucosal Supported Stereolithographic Models in the Maxillary Arch. (An experimental study)

    Objective: Employing stereolithographic surgical guides is highly beneficial for enhancing and analyzing implant position accuracy. This study aimed to differentiate between the accuracy of implant position with two different models employing guided surgery based on the support level (tooth-mucosa). Methods: A total of 80 implants were virtually planned and surgically positioned on twenty maxillary dental arches utilizing two distinct stereolithographic models (40 using tissue and 40 using tooth supported surgical guides). Four virtual implants were planned for each dental arch in the implant planning software. Accuracy measurement was made possible by matching process within the software between virtually planned and actually positioned implants, utilizing radiographic markers in the maxillary arch as matching points. Measuring was carried out at the center of the implant hexagon, apex and angle deviations. Results: The overall difference between tooth- and mucosa-supported surgical models for angular and apical deviations was not statistically significant except for hexagonal deviation, which showed (P 0.001), where the mean distance deviations at the hexagons and apices level showed 1.24 ± 0.38 mm and 1.22 ± 0.51 mm for the guides supported by teeth, and 1.83 ±1.09 mm and 1.24 ±0.69 mm for the guides supported by mucosa. The angular deviation for tooth- and mucosa-supported guides measured 4.38 ± 3.22 and 3.9 ±2.61 degrees, respectively. Conclusions: Based on this study’s results, it is concluded that there is a correlation between implant placement accuracy and the type of surgical guide support. Specifically, surgical guides supported by mucosa showed lower accuracy at the hexagon level compared to those supported by tooth structures. The resiliency of the mucosa may influence implant placement accuracy and subsequent prosthetic plan

    Design and Development of Al-Rasheed Road Package number 10 in Gaza StripThis project main goal is the development and design of street, In North west region of Gaza Strip called Al-Rasheed street package No. 10, streets around 2080 m. The project included theoretical topics needed in the design and implementation as well as the steps and stages followed in the design of the project since its stages until the end. The project dealt with in the foreground on the cause of his choice and purpose and action plan in place to complete the project, also presented a comprehensive study of the project area in terms of location, importance and current status of the street, including case studies to raise surveyors and traffic statistics, which also identifies the factors affecting the traffic statistics, have been clarified design engineering the content of classification of streets of the area and the calculation of the number of lanes and to identify trends of spinoff and the design of spin-off and vertical sectors of the streets, as well as structural design to the content to determine the types and thickness of the pavement of the streets of the region. Using AASHTO for the design and method of paving asphalt for the design of pavement concrete bricks, and to clarity the requirements and standards for the design of parking geometrically and structurally. Finally, the results were presented and the recommendations that come out through the study of this region and its development.
