Investigation of the application of Statistical Process Control into Low Volume Manufacturing
Statistical process control (SPC) into Low Volume Manufacturing environment face a challenge applying SPC techniques. SPC is commonly used for quality control and improvement in the manufacturing sector. In the early 1920s, Dr Walter Shewhart developed the control chart employed to monitor a process over time, where the first data is collected and then plotted on a graph. Moreover, a control chart is composed of a Central Line (CL), the Upper Control Limit (UCL) and the Lower Control Limit (LCL). Parameters and control limits are calculated to analyze the control chart, requiring twenty to twenty-five subgroups of data, with three to five values per subgroup, or at least sixty measurements. However, collect this amount of data is difficult in certain production processes, where the lot size could even be one and it could take weeks or months to accumulate enough data to estimate the process parameters.
Statistical process control is a challenge in some scenarios such as startup production, different or individual parts in the same production line, or production of customized products. In these cases, there is not enough amount of data to compute the parameters to monitor the process. Therefore, special techniques and statistical methods are required. Some authors developed self-starting control charts and alternative methods for short-run production, e.g. Q charts, Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (EWMA) and Cumulative sum (CUSUM). This thesis studies the performance of these SPC tools, implementing a Low Volume Statistical Process
Control (LV-SPC) model through an Excel spreadsheet, analyzing the production process data from companies that are performing low volume manufacturing. This work provides an interpretation and explanation about statistical process
control into low volume manufacturing, analyzing the application of different SPC methods developed for short production runs based on data collected from different companies. Data collected was processed to individual measurements from the process deviation rather than the mean values. Converting the data to individual values the SPC methods for low volume manufacturing are viable to use. Also, performance, effectiveness, and how it can be further implemented were discussed
INFLUÊNCIA DO ÁCIDO GIBERÉLICO NA FERTILIDADE DE GEMAS E NO CRESCIMENTO DOS RAMOS DE VIDEIRAS CV. RUBI

Efeitos do paclobutrazol na fertilidade de gemas e no crescimento dos ramos de videiras cv Rubi Effects of paclobutrazol on bud fertility and shoot growth of grapevine cv Rubi
The low bud fertility has been one of the most limiting factors in vineyards at São Paulo State, and this problem has been correlated, in many cases, to the excess of plant vigor. In this context, a trial was carried out in a commercial vineyard of 'Rubi' table grape, located at Palmeira D'Oeste (SP), Brazil. The experimental design was in complete randomized blocks with six treatments and four replications. The vine shoots were sprayed with paclobutrazol at 0; 500; 1,000; 1,500; 2,000 and 2,500 mgL-1, at the fifth leaf phenological stage. The variables evaluated were: percentage of fertile buds; percentage of bud necrosis; fresh weight and length of shoots and diameter of internodes. Applications of paclobutrazol reduced the weight and the length of shoots and the internodes diameter. The percentage of fertile buds was also reduced, probably due to the decreasing in endogenous gibberellin levels necessary for uncommitted primordia formation
Muslim democrats: moderating Islam, modifying the State
What explains the increase in moderate Islamists movements in the Middle East? Why do Islamist movements at times adopt moderate strategies while others do not? What conditions facilitate Islamist ideological moderation? And finally, what effect does the integration of Islamists into the political arena have on the state? The central claim of this study is that the moderation of opposition movements is the outcome of political processes that involve the tension among three variables: political inclusion, internal organization of the movement, and ideological frames. Over time, the interaction of these affects the trajectory of an Islamist movement, such as the Muslim Brotherhood, ultimately leading to sustained ideological change.Ph.
Signs of style in Balys Dvarionas’ opera "Dalia”
Straipsnyje Balio Dvariono opera "Dalia" (1959) nagrinėjama iki šiol mažai tyrinėtais aspektais, siekiant nustatyti įvairias sąsajas su to meto istoriniu kontekstu, estetinėmis nuostatomis, socialiniais momentais, kvestionuojami kai kurie iki šiol su šiuo sceninės muzikos opusu susiję stereotipai bei norima nustatyti to istorinio laikotarpio bei paties kūrėjo paliktus stiliaus ženklus. Pasak autorės, opera "Dalia" tęsia romantizmo operų tradiciją, joje akivaizdi rusų kompozitorių įtaka. Čia gausu ryškių, įsimenančių melodijų, vyrauja homofonija, muzikoje persipina herojinis ir lyrinis pradai. Opera atitiko daugelį to meto sovietinių ideologų reikalavimų: sukurtas herojinis-istorinis libretas (pagal rašytojo ir dramaturgo Balio Sruogos dramą "Apyaušrio dalia"), jame atsispindi kovos momentai, vaizduojami liaudies kovotojai, šaržuojami aukštuomenės bei dvasininkijos atstovai. Reikšminiai žodžiai: Balys Dvarionas; Opera "Dalia"; Lietuvių muzikos istorija; Lietuvių opera; Formalizmas; B. Dvariono muzikos stiliusThe article examines Balys Dvarionas’s opera "Dalia" (1959) in terms of aspects, which have not been extensively studied until present for the purpose of establishing different relations with the historical context of the period, the aesthetical provisions, social moments, questions certain stereotypes, related to the said opus and attempts to identify the signs of the style of the historic period and those, left by the creator himself. According to the author the opera "Dalia" continues the tradition of the Romanticist operas, the influence of Russian composers is obvious. The opera is plentiful with prominent and memorable melodies, homophony and heroic and lyrical subjects intertwine in the music. The opera complied with most Soviet ideological requirements of the period: a heroic – historical libretto (according to the drama “Apyaušrio Dalia” by Balys Sruoga), reflecting moments of fighting, depicting folk fighters and caricaturing the representatives of nobility and clergy. The opera characterizes with patchiness and kaleidoscopicality of musical imagery. The orchestra plays an especially important role, i. e. the function of unification of the musical material of the entire opera; the orchestra part sensitively responses to the dramaturgy nuances, turns of the plot, the orchestra comments the events on the stage. B. Dvarionas’s "Dalia" was staged three times – two stagings at the Lithuanian Opera and Ballet Theatre (in 1959 and in 2004) and as a Lithuanian Television film (in 1985)
