Three hundred rainbow trout (242.9 ± 6.9 g) were randomly assigned to 12 fibreglass tanks (25 fish/tank). The fish were fed, for 231 days (feeding level: 0.74 % average bw), four experimental diets, containing increasing levels of coconut oil: diet A 0 %, diet B 6 %; diet C 12 % and diet D 13 %, as replacements of herring oil and cod liver oil. Weight gains of fish were > 3 g d-1 and FCR lower than 1.5, for all treatments. No significant difference was observed in the main carcass traits and whole body composition, but whole fish energy content significantly increased in fish fed diet D (10.68 KJ g-1). Different dietary fatty acid profiles had significant effects on the rainbow trout muscle contents of C10:0, C12:0, C14:0, total n-3, and the main ratios: SFA/USFA; DHA/EPA; DHA/AA, n-3/n-6, but not on total fatty acids content of the muscle

Boccaccio nel Seicento: censure e recuperi della "compassione"

SIMONA MORANDO, Boccaccio in the sixteenth century: censorship and recovery ofthe «compassion» In the introduction of this paper, the literature of the seventeenth century is defined as a writing of compassion but not of consolation (quotations from Giovanni Cisano, Torquato Accetto, Emanuele Tesauro, G. B. Marino). The distance between the writers studied here and Boccaccio is due to the censored editions of the Decameron in sixteenth century, to the censorship of Boccaccio as a «maestro d’amore», to his unrefined language, to his interpretation by many critics as a light and burlesque author. But, as reported in a writing by Boccalini, Boccaccio’s Latin works are very much appreciated in seventeenth century literature. This is especially the case of De casibus virorum illustrium, a gloomy and pessimistic book about misfortunes of famous men and about compassion, which nevertheless believes in the ability of letters to give back fame to ruined men. As shown in the conclusion through some writings by Tassoni, many other seventeenth century authors do not have this kind of hope

This study aimed to assess the urination and defecation frequency along with the nitrogen excretion produced by lactating cows spending either 2 or 4 h a day in an outdoor exercise area, to then estimate the load of cows allowed considering the nitrogen limitation in manure established by the EU directive. Six Italian Simmental lactating cows housed in a free-stall were paired and alternatively subjected to the following exit managements: no daily outdoor access, a 2-h daily outdoor access (U2; from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.), and a 4-h daily outdoor access (U4) divided into a morning (U4a; 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.) and an afternoon (U4b; 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.) exit. Using a crossover design, each pair of cows was subjected to each exit management for a period of 2 weeks, then switched twice, until the completion of 6 weeks of evaluation in order to ensure all the three different group combinations. The study considered as treatments the two exit managements: U2 and U4. Cows in the paddock urinate..
