Well-posedness in vector optimization and scalarization results
In this paper, we give a survey on well-posedness notions of Tykhonov's type for vector optimization problems and the links between them with respect to the classification proposed by Miglierina, Molho and Rocca in [33]. We consider also the notions of extended well-posedness introduced by X.X. Huang ([19],[20]) in the nonparametric case to complete the hierchical structure characterizing these concepts. Finally we propose a review of some theoretical results in vector optimization mainly related to different notions of scalarizing functions, linear and nonlinear, introduced in the last decades, to simplify the study of various well-posedness properties.
COVID-19 and university students: Development of the Robust – Pandemic Coping Scale (R-PCS)
The COVID-19 pandemic has provoked an increase in both psychopathological symptoms and negative emotions. Examining how university students coped with the pandemic can give indications about how to intervene to support them. Coping is a multi-component process referring to all the actions marshaled to face the traumatic impact of stressful events. We studied how university students coped with the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, by developing the Robust – Pandemic Coping Scale (R-PCS), deputed to measure coping strategies related to epidemics/pandemics. We involved 2,987 Italian university students who participated to an online survey, including the R-PCS and the Power to Live with Disasters Questionnaire (PLDQ). We conducted exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, which supported the goodness of a 4-factor model (i.e., Despair, Adjustment, Proactivity, Aversion) for the R-PCS, invariant across gender and age. Then, we applied the Rasch analysis. The correlations with the PLDQ supported also the criterion validity of the scale. Therefore, we described the development of a new, brief, and psychometrically sound instrument to assess students’ coping strategies related to epidemics/pandemics. Our study revealed also gender and age differences: Scores were higher for Despair, Adjustment, and Proactivity for females; for Aversion for males; and for Proactivity for students older than 23 years. At the applied level, the R-PCS could be used to investigate the efficacy of evidence-based interventions aiming at supporting students during the pandemic or to monitor their reactions. And it could also be a basis for developing further scales for assessing coping related to other disasters
Radiation pressure on a moving body: Beyond the Doppler effect
Copyright © 2012 Optical Society of AmericaThis paper was published in Journal of the Optical Society of America B and is made available as an electronic reprint with the permission of OSA. The paper can be found at the following URL on the OSA website: http://www.opticsinfobase.org/josab/abstract.cfm?uri=josab-29-11-3136. Systematic or multiple reproduction or distribution to multiple locations via electronic or other means is prohibited and is subject to penalties under law.The dependence of macroscopic radiation pressure on the velocity of the object being pushed is commonly attributed to the Doppler effect. This need not be the case, and here we highlight velocity-dependent radiation pressure terms that have their origins in the mixing of s and p polarizations brought about by the Lorentz transformation between the lab and the material rest frame, rather than in the corresponding transformation of frequency and wavevector. The theory we develop may be relevant to the nano-optomechanics of moving bodies
What transition for cities? Scientific debate, research, approaches and good practices
This Special Issue intended to wonder about what the possible transformation for cities towards the sustainability transition could be. Hence, contributions coming from scholars as well as from technicians have been collected around three main topics: methodologies for prefiguring possible sustainable transitions; urban policies and drivers of the transition; possible projects and applications for sustainable transition. Reflections and suggestions elaborated underline the awareness that transition process, above all, needs cooperation among decisions, information sharing, and social behaviors changes
The recovery of the waterfront as opportunity of urban consolidation for Naples
The proposed work is divided into two parts.
In the first part, we investigate the phenomenon of “waterfront renaissance” pointing out actors and tools of change, which starting from America cities have been affecting the main European port cities. The overview on the most important cases allows us to determine some key points characterizing many interventions of urban waterfront re-qualification.
In the second part, the work aims at defining areas, tools and actors involved in the change affecting the city of Naples, with particular reference to restore the relation between city and sea, described in the new general master plan, approved in 2004.
The peculiarity of Naples - which, in order to improve the relation with sea, chose the cooperation among administrative bodies and the recovery of areas to be given to public use – represents the starting point for determining the factors helping to realize the spaces of intersection among city, port and sea
Introduzione
