Tunable Spin and Orbital Edelstein Effect at (111) LaAlO3/SrTiO3 Interface
No full text: Converting charge current into spin current is one of the main mechanisms exploited in spintronics. One prominent example is the Edelstein effect, namely, the generation of a magnetization in response to an external electric field, which can be realized in systems with lack of inversion symmetry. If a system has electrons with an orbital angular momentum character, an orbital magnetization can be generated by the applied electric field, giving rise to the so-called orbital Edelstein effect. Oxide heterostructures are the ideal platform for these effects due to the strong spin-orbit coupling and the lack of inversion symmetries. Beyond a gate-tunable spin Edelstein effect, we predict an orbital Edelstein effect an order of magnitude larger then the spin one at the (111) LaAlO3/SrTiO3 interface for very low and high fillings. We model the material as a bilayer of t2g orbitals using a tight-binding approach, whereas transport properties are obtained in the Boltzmann approach. We give an effective model at low filling, which explains the non-trivial behaviour of the Edelstein response, showing that the hybridization between the electronic bands crucially impacts the Edelstein susceptibility

Am Beispiel eines von der Hauptstadt besonders entfernten Departements, studiert der Autor die Wahlen im August 1790. Weit davon entfernt, die Sache einer aktiven Minderheit von Aktivisten zu sein, zeugt die Wahlbeteiligung von einem großen Interesse der Wähler (61 % der Vollburger sind in den Primärversammlungen anwesend). Ebenfalls läßt die Soziologie der Wähler sowie der Gewählten die Anwesenheit sehr verschiedener Schichten der lokalen Gesellschaft, nämlich wichtige Minderheiten von Bauera, zum Vorschein kommen. Diese Arbeit gestattet dem Autor, die Ergebnisse seiner Forschung mit den klassischen Thesen der Historiographie sowie mit den Fallen anderer Departements, die auch Gegenstand einer Untersuchung sind, zu vergleichen.Melvin Edelstein, Electoral Participation and Sociology in the Landes department in 1790.
Taking the example of a department far-removed from the capital, the author reviews the elections of August 1790. Far from being dominated by an active militant minority, voter participation reveals a keen interest in politics, with 61 % of active citizens present at primary assemblies. So too, the sociology of the voters and of those elected highlights the presence of a wide variety of strata from local society, especially large minorities of fanners. La participation alta (con 61 % de presencia de los ciudadanos activos en las asembleas primarias) indica el gran interes de los electores. La sociologie de los electores como de los elegidos révéla la presencia de capas sociales muy diversas, en particular una minoria importante de cultivadores.
