Miscellaneous materials created shortly after the passing of Dr. David R. Carr on 13 November 2009. These items offer a biographical portrait of Carr, describe his University service for more than 35 years, and capture reflections of those who knew him well. Also By The Same Author: AKTiveAuthor, a Citation Graph Approach to Name Disambiguation

    No full text
The desire for definitive data and the semantic web drive for inference over heterogeneous data sources requires co-reference resolution to be performed on those data. In particular, name disambiguation is required to allow accurate publication lists, citation counts and impact measures to be determined. This paper describes a graph-based approach to author disambiguation on large-scale citation networks. Using self-citation, co-authorship and document source analyses, AKTiveAuthor clusters papers, achieving precision of 0.997 and recall of 0.818 over a test group of eight surname clusters

A collection of drawings done by John R Carr when he was a student during the years 1959 to 1965 at the Central Technical College George Street Brisbane, were donated to Queensland University of Technology on the 25th October 2023. The drawings were prepared as part of the Architectural Diploma course conducted at the time by the Central Technical College. These drawings have been photographed to illustrate the techniques that were expected and used by the students and the profession at the time. The collection of drawings were prepared for the Architectural Design Stages 1 to 5 and Architectural Construction Stages 1 to 4. The collection may not be a complete representation of all the drawings required by the syllabus at the time. Some may be missing because they were either lost or not even completed because of sickness. The title blocks on the drawings indicate the various stages and years when they were prepared for the various subjects. An unusual arrangement for the final year of the 1965 CTC course was that the students in the sixth year of the CTC course combined with the sixth year students of the University of Queensland to complete their final year. The list of subjects included in the Central Technical college architectural course is listed below.
