Formation and Disruption of Open Clusters

    No full text
We deqal with the evolutionary properties of the galactic open cluster system, showing how relevant has been for the Galactic environment the dissolution of many loose clusters

We present preliminary results of the hydrodynamical simulations of the collapse of a protogalaxy up to star formation

Turbulence in the frame of the evolution of a self-gravitating protocloud

    No full text
This paper studies the influence of turbulence generated by the supersonic motion of fragments formed during the collapse of a self-gravitating cloud. The dependence of the results upon the physical parameters needed to describe turbulence is investigated. The results are given for the three values of the gas cloud mass. The presence of turbulence with consequent dissipation is shown to raise appreciably the gas temperature. The results show that the turbulent velocity dispersion is sistematically smaller than the fragments' orbital velocity dispersion

Galactic nuclear activity induced by globular cluster merging

The interpretation of the difference observed between the radial distribution of globular clusters and that of halo-bulge stars in elliptical galaxies is discussed in terms of evolution of their globular cluster systems. I present a short summary of the evidence that dynamical evolution of globular cluster systems is not only able to explain the flattening of their distribution toward the galactic center, but also it may have played an important role on the primordial activity of the parent galaxy
