(2012: 45) redescribed Dasia subcaerulea on the basis of a single specimen registered as ZSIC 25945, collected by M.S. Chaitra from Singsar game road, Kudremukh National Park, which is> 500 km north of the type locality of D. subcaerulea. However, they erroneously mention the registration number of this specimen to be BNHS 363 in their appendix of specimens examined. As the authors were unable to examine the holotype of Dasia subcaerulea, they obtained photographs and data from the Natural History Museum, London, where it is housed. They state to have assigned their new specimen from Kudremukh to D. subcaerulea based “only on external morphological characters”. The photographs of the holotype in Harikrishnan et al. (2012: 46) (and in Wickramasinghe et al., 2011: 1967) clearly depict the prefrontals being in broad contact with each other, completely preventing contact between the frontal and fronto-nasal. In the specimen of D. subcaerulea from Kudremukh (ZSIC 25945) the prefrontals areseparated from each other, enabling contact between the frontal and fronto-nasal, as stated by the authors themselves (Harikrishnan et al. 2012: 45). In addition, there are differences in the number of midbody scale rows [28 as recorded by Smith (1949) vs. 26 in Harikrishnan et al. (2012)]. This is especially ironic considering that the authors themselves have used prefrontal midline contact and midbody scale rows as diagnostic characters in their own key to distinguish species of Dasia, and have also genetically tested distributional outliers (see D. olivacea vs. D. cf. olivacea). While it is known that Dasia species are rare to encounter in south India (personal observations), the mismatch of these significant and diagnostic morphological characters coupled with the very distant and ecologically heterogeneous collection localities (Bodinayakanur: 10.02 ° N, 77.35 ° E, 353 m asl. vs. Kudremukh: 13.21 ° N, 75.18 ° E, 750 m asl.), across a significant bio-geographic barrier, the Palghat gap, raise serious doubt on the veracity of their allocation of ZSIC 25945 to D. subcaerulea sensu Smith (1949). This allocation impacts the concept of D. subcaerulea, and hence the phylogeographic implications presented by the authors. As ZSIC 25945 is currently an outlier to D. subcaerulea sensu Smith (1949), both morphologically and geographically, it would be important to seek topotypic specimens of D. subcaerulea and of populations from between the type locality and Kudremukh. Moreover, the number of congeners in the genus Dasia was repeatedly misinterpreted by Harikrishnan et al. (2012). In the first line of their introduction they mentioned “The genus is presently composed of seven valid species...”, but the map placed right below the above statement shows eight valid species (even excluding Dasia cf. olivacea and their new species D. johnsinghi which was described in that paper). Again in their discussion they misinterpreted the number of congeners in Dasia as “The description of D. johnsinghi sp. nov. from the southern Western Ghats brings the total number of Dasia species to eight...” (see Harikrishnan et al. 2012: 48)”. All of the above statements are erroneous, bringing the total species to nine including their new species, D. johnsinghi. We emphasize the importance of inferences made in taxonomic papers, which will be applied by other “end-users” such as ecologists and conservation managers. Hence, a more cautious approach towards sensitive taxonomic and nomenclatural issues is needed. Ironically, the errors that we have highlighted here recall the concerned criticism raised by Vasudevan et al. (2007) for taxonomic papers being “pernicious” by publishing “inaccurate and imprecise” descriptions that will hinder the progress in taxonomy. Such mistakes have unwittingly appeared in a number of recent research publications, and several examples in this region have been highlighted recently (Pethiyagoda, 2007). We recommend a cautious approach towards sensitive taxonomic issues and insist that taxonomic papers should undergo a thorough peer review by practicing taxonomists (Alberts et al. 2008; Bahir 2009; Bahir & Gabadage 2009), thereby minimizing the possibilities for such mistakes in future.Published as part of Chandramouli, S. Dataset for the study of various error measures steering adaptive model order reduction algorithms in vibroacoustic applications
The dataset is associated with the university dissertation titled "Surrogate modeling of high-dimensional vibroacoustic problems using parametric model order reduction" by Harikrishnan K. Sreekumar. To evaluate the accuracy of a reduced order model in the context of model order reduction in the frequency domain, a range of error measures are available. The error measures are extensively used in adaptive algorithms to build reduced order models of optimal dimensions with the least effort. The author performs a detailed study on some of the popular error measures using simple plate examples that are discussed in the thesis. This current dataset publication contains essential artifacts (computational notebook, model data and primary results) that enable reproducibility of the outcome presented in the dissertation

Morphometric data on two species of Coryphophylax from the Andaman Islands
The data file Coryphophylax morphometry.csv contains morphometric data on two species of Coryphophylax, C. subcristatus and C. brevicaudus. These data were used in morphometric analyses which were part of the description of the new species (C. brevicaudus) (Harikrishnan et al, 2012)
Effect of chrysophanic acid on immune response and immune genes transcriptomic profile in Catla catla against Aeromonas hydrophila
The effect of chrysophanic acid (CA) (2, 4, and 8 mg kg−1) on the immunity and immune-related gene profile of Catla catla against Aeromonas hydrophila is reported. In both control and treated groups fed with 2 mg kg−1 (2 CA), the phagocytosis, hemolytic, myeloperoxidase content, and superoxide anion production decreased significantly between 6th and 8th weeks, whereas when fed with 4 mg kg−1 CA (4 CA) the H2O2 production and nitric oxide synthase increased significantly between 4th and 8th week. When fed with 2 CA and 4 CA diets, the total protein, bactericidal, and antibody titer increased significantly from the 4th week onwards. When fed with 2 CA, the IL-1β and IL-10 mRNA expression of head kidney leucocytes were significant between weeks 6 and 8. The expressions of toll-like receptors significantly increased when fed with a 4 CA diet from 4th week onwards. The 4 CA group significantly increased in TNF-α, TNF receptor-associated factor 6 (NOD), which influences protein expression, after the 4th week. The mRNA transcription of MHCI, lysozyme-chicken and goose type expressions significantly increased in 4 CA group within the 4th week. In summary, the dietary administration of 4 mg kg−1 of CA (4 CA) provides better immunity and enhances the up-regulation of immune-related genes in Catla against A. hydrophila
On the motion of hairpin filaments in the atmospheric boundary layer
Abstract: A recent work of Harikrishnan et al. [arXiv:2110.02253 (2021)] has revealed an abundance of hairpin-like vortex structures, oriented in a similar direction, in the turbulent patches of a stably stratified Ekman flow. The Ekman flow over a smooth wall is a simplified configuration of the Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL) where effects of both stratification and rotation are present. In this study, hairpin-like structures are investigated by treating them as slender vortex filaments, i.e., a vortex filament whose diameter is small when compared to its radius of curvature . The corrected thin-tube model of Klein and Knio [J. Fluid Mech. (1995)] is used to compute the motion of these filaments with the ABL as a background flow. The influence of the mean background flow on the filaments is studied for two stably stratified cases and a neutrally stratified case. Our results suggest that the orientation of the hairpin filament in the spanwise direction is linked to its initial starting height under stable stratification whereas no such dependency can be observed with the neutrally stratified background flow. An improved feature tracking scheme based on spatial overlap for tracking -criterion vortex structures on the Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) data is also developed. It overcomes the limitation of using a constant threshold in time by dynamically adjusting the thresholds to accommodate the growth or deterioration of a feature. A comparison between the feature tracking and the filament simulation reveals qualitatively similar temporal developments. Finally, an extension of the asymptotic analysis of Callegari and Ting [J. App. Math (1978)] is carried out to include the effect of gravity. The results show that, in the regime considered here, a contribution from the gravity term occurs only when the tail of an infinitely long filament is tilted at an angle relative to the wall.
