Variations on the Author
No full text“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
El neoliberalismo en medio del desastre en la crónica mi 27 F de Denisse Quezada
No full textTesina (Licenciado en Literatura)--Universidad Finis Terrae, 2023El presente trabajo se propone analizar y demostrar que en la crónica Mi 27F (2022), de la periodista Denisse Quezada, se muestran problemáticas como el individualismo social, la diferencia de experiencia de un desastre y post-desastre en términos sociales y la priorización del Estado en la economía causadas por el neoliberalismo en el contexto del terremoto del 27 de febrero del 2010 en Chile. Esta obra trata sobre la búsqueda de una madre (Denisse Quezada) quien se encontraba en Santiago de Chile durante el terremoto del 27F mientras su hijo Mathias estaba de vacaciones con sus abuelos cerca del epicentro del fenómeno natural. El análisis se desarrollará a partir de tres preguntas de investigación: ¿Cómo la crónica documenta las estrategias por las cuales el Estado neoliberal prioriza la estabilidad económica frente a un desastre? ¿De qué manera se narra en la crónica el individualismo neoliberal en los ciudadanos chilenos frente al terremoto del 27 de febrero del 2010? ¿Existe una desigualdad en la vivencia y aflicción de un terremoto en las personas de pueblos rurales a diferencia de las que se encuentran en Santiago: la capital de Chile? ¿Cómo la crónica ilustra esta desigualdad? El interés de analizar esta crónica, consiste en demostrar que el neoliberalismo tiene una conexión directa con las incidencias de los desastres, como lo fue en este caso el terremoto del 27 de febrero del 2010
