Ecomusei e micromusei
Faced with a renewed framework of museology, the concept of cultural heritage, expanding enormously, refers to a great complexity of underlying elements, stories and relationships that require and await a necessary narrative, conveyed by material and immaterial, communicative artifacts. Design is called, today more and more often, to operate within the complexity of design strategies that are able to develop new ways of enhancing, communicating and using cultural heritage and traditional productions rooted in the territories, exploring their multiple aspects also through methodologies of highly experimental design (interactive, multimedia). Each ecomuseum represents a unique reality, by territorial resources, relationships and processes. The article recounts these intertwining relationships through the description of some emblematic pro
First bryosociological remarks from Puglia region
In the ambit of a large phytosociological survey on the vegetation of the Puglia region, for a more complete knowledge of the territory and comprehensive environmental characterization, the Authors have considered to extend the study to the bryophyte vegetation, reporting here the first results. They are some bryophyte associations, for the first time reported for the Puglia region for which to date no bryosociological data is known. The communities are referred to the phytosociological classes Pleurochaeto squarrosae-Abietinelletea abietinae Marstaller 2002, Barbuletea unguiculatae Mohan 1978 and Ctenietea mollusci v. Hübschmann ex Grgi? 1980. In particular, within the class Pleurochaeto squarrosae-Abietinelletea abietinae the association Pleurochaeto squarrosae-Cheilotheletum chloropi Privitera & Puglisi 1996 was detected. It is a terricolous, meso-xerophilous, photo-sciophilous association characterized by Cheilothela chloropus, an oceanic Mediterranean species occurring with a very high cover value, sometimes tending to form monophytic conenoses. The community was found in the Southern part of the Puglia region, in some areas of the so called "Alto-Salento" and precisely at Ostuni (Costone S. Biagio), Grottaglie (Taranto) and Ravines of Fantiano (Taranto), in correspondence of garrigues characterized by Thymbra capitata referable to the Helianthemo jonii-Thymetum capitati Biondi & Guerra 2008 of the class Cisto cretici-Micromerietea julianae Oberdorfer 1954 ex Horvati? 1958. To date the association Pleurochaeto squarrosae-Cheilotheletum chloropi is known only for Sicily; therefore, it is here reported for the first time from the Italian Peninsula. Weissietum controversae Marstaller 1988 is included in the alliance Grimaldion fragrantis ?marda et Hadàc 1944 of the class Barbuletea unguiculatae. It is a terricolous, photo-sciophilous association, found at Ravines of Riggio (Taranto) in correspondence of garrigues of the Helianthemo jonii-Thymetum capitati and in the coastal area next to island La Chianca (Gargano, Foggia) in correspondence of the halotolerant garrigues of the Agropyro-Helichrysetum italici Bartolo, Brullo & Signorello 1989 of the class Helichryso-Crucianelletea maritimae (Sissingh 1974) Géhu, Rivas-Martínez & Tüxen in Géhu 1975 em. Biondi & Géhu in Géhu & Biondi 1994. Known only for Sicily Weissietum controversae, as well as Pleurochaeto squarrosae-Cheilotheletum chloropi, is signaled for the first from the Italian Peninsula. Finally, Encalypto streptocarpae-Fissidentetum cristati Neumayr 1971, referred to the class Ctenidietea mollusci, is reported. It is a chasmophytic and exochomophytic, mesophytic, sciophytic association, found on Mt. S. Angelo (Gargano, Foggia) in correspondence of garrigues characterized by Thymbra capitata and Rosmarinus officinalis of the class Cisto cretici-Micromerietea julianae. Encalypto streptocarpae-Fissidentetum cristati is already known for Trentino Alto Adige and Sicily. This study is a little contribution to the knowledge of the bryophyte vegetation, unjustly neglected for a long time in Italy, as well as in many other European Countries, despite it provides useful, relevant environmental information
Fungal and fungal-like plant pathogens of the Maltese Islands
The paper provides updated lists of plant pathogenic species belonging to the kingdoms Protozoa, Chromista and Fungi (one, 21, and 211 species entries, respectively) recorded in Malta. It is intended primarily for the use of plant pathologists and authorities involved in plant protection and quarantine issues. It is based on published papers and unpublished reports of several authors and on our original data. The latter were based on inspections in the field and at the Maltese fruit and vegetable market, on surveys requested by EC and on samples brought by farmers at the Għammieri, Marsa, laboratories of the Ministry for Rural Affairs and the Environment (MRAE). They include records or more than 30 species new for Malta and several new host and new location records. Major diseases observed during 2004-2006 include Verticillium wilt of olive, late blight of potato and tomato, powdery mildew on several hosts, crown and root rot (Forl) of tomato, Sclerotinia stem rot of vegetables, grey mould of several crops, leaf mould of tomato. Most of the pathogenic species reported at the beginning of the last century are still present. Several species, including Spongospora subterranea f. sp. subterranea, Colletotrichum acutatum, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. radicis-lycopersici, probably have been introduced recently. Intensified plant trade, due to world trends and the accession of Malta into the EU, increases this risk and requires consolidating the national quarantine service and extending monitoring of the territory. The incidence and severity of some diseases could be traced back to inappropriate cultural practices or unsuitable seed or plant material. MRAE and private organisations have a key role to play in improving this situationpeer-reviewe

The work aims to re-examine the chronology of the settlement of the overseas canonical and military orders in Barletta, from the years after the First Crusade to the first quarter of the second half of the 12th century. Known for its strong connections with the Crusader State and the Holy Land, Barletta was the site of all main religious
orders related to the Crusade. The canons of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem came first in the city, followed immediately by the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem and Templar. While, at the beginning of the second half of the 12th century , the canons of Saint Mary of Nazareth settled in Barletta, drawn by the port, important junction of complex connections among the city and rural lands of Capitanata, Murgia and Ofanto Valley. Certain, the link
between the city of Puglia and Normans promoted the settlement in this part of Apulia of a considerable number of merchants and religious orders. The fame of the "sea of Barletta" was so great to be involved in the story of Franks to conquer of the Holy Sepulchre
Light project e strumenti digitali: per una fruizione narrativa dei beni culturali
Lighting design, exhibition design and communication design play together a very important and significant role during the processes related to conservation, requalification, restoration, promotion and fruition of cultural heritage. Through the selection of some projects of light design, in association with the use of new technologies and digital tools, the article describes new design processes for the fruition and promotion of cultural heritage. Expanding the concepts of conservation, fruition and promotion of cultural heritage, these projects encourage a very deep relation between the cultural heritage and the visitor, who moves in a “cognitive and emotional space increased” by the combination of light and virtual information applied to the real scene of the urban, architectural or artistic heritage. The article describe, also, the synergy between specific and specialized professional skills, called to work together. A new original design mode work in a multidisciplinary system
