Genus Pseudochasmatonotus n. gen. Type species: Pseudochasmatonotus furcatus n. sp. Etymology: This species is named using the combination of 'pseudo' and Chasmatonotus, in reference to the close affinities with this genus. Diagnosis: Male antenna with 11 flagellomeres distinctly hairy, eye with strong dorsomedial extension, dorsocentrals biserial, mid and hind legs without pseudospur on tarsomere 1, squama with 4 setae; wing membrane covered with numerous macrotrichia; scutum with median longitudinal groove, gonostylus bifurcate (mains characters).Published as part of Published, First, 2007, Chironomid midges from early Eocene amber of France (Diptera: Chironomidae), pp. 1-66 in Zootaxa 1404 on page 3
